  Having previously spent many hours in TSW, TS and Trainz, I was blown away by the amount of content in Diesel Rail Car sim. There are hundreds of free addons, generally of very high quality. The sim focuses on diesel locos and passenger services. You'll be able to play on max. graphics settings with a GTX1080 or a newer GPU. There are options for simple or full controls and full controller support. The look and feel is amazing, you can really feel the power of the diesel engines (also thanks to great sounds). It feels fresh and made with love for trains, not easy profits.

  A great Simulator, plenty of routes via workshop. I had loads of trouble trying to play on the Steamdeck but the Developer was very helpful and I was able to get play it properly using the Steamdeck built in controller

  At first, I wasn't expecting too much from this game. However upon playing it for a few hours, it's actually really incredible and an enjoying experience. Unlike major railway games from Dovetail, Lapioware have made a simple yet also detailed game that covers the many aspects of driving vintage diesels that everyone will enjoy. Whether it's ranging from small rural stopping services to driving loco-hauled express service on various different routes, it's completely up to you. With a vast amount of different timetables pre-made make the game already packed with endless hours of gameplay. Not to mention the ability to be able to create your own timetable (Services), trains and even whole routes! The controls and the gameplay are a bit complex to get to grasp with when you first play the game, but after a while you soon get used to them. Even if it feels a little far-fetched then you have the ability to configure your own controls to suit your playing style. I would highly suggest you firstly try this game out with "simple controls" in order to get to grips with the systems. There are numerous different diesels you can drive, ranging from small locomotives like the class 03 shunter, large locomotives like the class 37 or 40, and then a range of DMU's ready and raring to drive at your leisure. Sounds and physics have been finely tuned and focused in on in the creation of this game. It realistic sounds and feels symbolise if you are actually driving a diesel in the 60's! You don't always have to be in the driving seat either; maybe taking a break and letting the AI drive you along the detailed scenery the maps have to offer is what you prefer. Personally, driving to the timetables is really engaging; keeping in time, whilst also maintaining the finest performance for passengers is a lot to juggle, but makes this game so much more interesting than other rail simulators, which don't dive as deep into the properties that make a train journey impeccable. Watch out for them penalties, because I soon rack them up! Well, I could write about this wonderful game for what seems forever, but really, go and play it. It'll be worth it.
