  I really wanted to give this game a thumbs up but DO NOT buy this game at full price ( I got it on sale with two other games I haven't installed yet but still cheaper than the ridiculous $20CAD+ price tag). Game is fun for a few hours but there is NO challenge what so ever. You are challenged to a bet by another captain each season but they can't even come close to the numbers you put up. You will have every skill and upgrade by the end of Season 2. The bugs were the final nail in the coffin for me, so frustrating. Lots of features you will never use, you can hire guys right from the start (with upgrading) so no need to even sort yourself. Also do not bother hiring 4 guys, completely pointless and causes even more glitches and bugs/ Lots of potential but as of right now I would not recommend at full price. If you do buy it, make sure you save A LOT as there are a ton of glitches that will make you have to exit out and lose progress.

  If you are a fan of the show then this will be a fun game to play. Things are still clearly being ironed out so please manage your expectations, but it still captures that crabbing experience. If i could make a suggestion to the developers, the AI crewmen have improved, but the captain needs more options regarding crew orders and priorities etc. My suggestion would be to split the duties into better categories such as rail/hydros/bait With the above in mind you can hire someone to operate the controls on the hydros without moving from that spot and someone else to do rail duty, which means less men running around like headless chickens and getting in each others way. The only time someone should be moving on deck is when they are moving from the rail to the bait/buoy's and back during pot preparation, or back round the table to sort crab, leaving a second guy working on the controls of the hydros to save the other crew running back and forth from the controls to his other jobs etc and allowing a more seamless crew synergy, otherwise it really defeats the purpose of having more than 1 deckhand. Additionally, in its current state captains are forced between 3 modes, pot setting, pot collecting, and resting. In order for the crew to work more efficiently we need a fourth option (collect and reset) to pull a pot out of the sea, empty the crab, rebait and reset the pot in the sea where it came from. This is needed because as of now you have to manually switch between pot setting and pot collecting between every pot you wish to pull out and empty whilst utilising crewmen to perform those tasks. If i set the crew to pot collecting they will collect the pot, and i can get them to empty it and sort the crab, but there is no option to reset the pot back in the sea, if you have 1 crewman as a sorter you can save yourself a ton of time rebaiting the pots and resetting them yourself while he sorts crab...... however this creates a new problem, If you reset the pot yourself and your crew is set to pot collection, Harry sorter will run over and begin hooking the pot you have just dropped in the sea because that was his set job, this wastes the bait and uses more if you decide to set the pot back in the water again, only this/next time remembering to turn pot collection off allowing you to rebait and set the pot without the crew instantly trying to retrieve said pot. You need to manually turn off collecting by switching back to setting and then drop the pot back after you bait etc, and then drive the boat forward and manually switch back to pot collecting in order for your crew to retrieve the next pot.   The devs seem to have abandoned what could have been a good game. I have only played for about 12 hours, and I have faced so many bugs its absurd. Right now, there is a pot on the deck that is empty but can't be used because the game claims there are crabs in it. The crew mates' tasks are poorly thought out. They will always try to use the same machine, the crewman who is throwing the line doesn't stand at the rail so has to move to the rail every time a pot reaches the front of the boat, unless you are travelling in first gear, they can't get there on time. I want to fish at "Edgar speed". The crew mates will sort crab but cannot put crab in the hold, they can put pots on the launcher but won't repair the pots or launcher and instead will stand still while everything is broken. This game could have been so much more and if the devs let the community get to it I am sure it would have been, but I am pretty sure they have abandoned this game. Steam is becoming Abandonware city with so many of the games in my collection being half finished piles of cash grabs. I think Deadliest Catch is heading into my pile of abandoned games so if you have not bought it yet I would suggest you don't. If you have already bought it, sit with me a while and let's hope that one day, in the future, someone can fix this game so it works as it should.

  I don't often write reviews but people seem to be hammering this game for not being a game from the past and that doesn't feel right to me. I never played the previous game so I guess I'm coming to this with no expectation and for me so far it's been enjoyable. If you like the kind of games where you zone out and chill to tasks like ETS 2, CMS, etc. then you know what to expect here, it has the same kind of vibe and it's easy to be immersed. Graphically for me with everything maxed it's actually really pretty and runs very smooth. Biggest issue for me so far was that the tutorial missed some very useful elements that would have made life a little easier (like why doesn't it reference the game mechanics guide under tab) but I got by. It took me a while to realise you can drive the boat so I understand why a lot of reviews seem to think you can't but it also shows people aren't giving it a fair shot before damning it. Devs also seem to be very community focussed and active so far and that is to be applauded. For an EA game this feels about right and I'm looking forward to seeing it progress towards release. For those of you that wanted an update of a previous game I guess this is not for you. Oh, and F2 hides HUD for all you screenshot junkies :)

  First let me say that this game is not for everyone. It reminds me of many games that you have to harvest this to get that. Then that enables you to get more of this. I have been a fan of Deadliest Catch since it's start. I also like sailing games. So this all blends well with me. This game will drive twitch players mad. I see the vision of the devs in the skills store, the ship upgrade store, the bar, and others. As more of it is added, the game expands exponentially. Right now it is enough to try to emulate the drive of the ship captains to keep moving and bringing in fish while the fishing season is open. It is a race against time to make the most money possible during the season. The in game manual really helps. As I progressed, and did know how to do something, or what decision to make, the manual explained it very well. As I just started my journey today, I cannot tell you what lies ahead. But I am looking forward to it.

  I'm actually enjoying this game. I love simulations and this one is pretty cool. It only took me manually identifying about a thousand crabs to figure out I didn't need to run the entire boat by myself and that I could hire crew to do things. Hiring someone to sort the crabs for me was the best money I ever spent. Now, I can sit back and watch the crew do the majority of the work and I can focus on my smoking and drinking habits while I rake in the money. I can't wait until I have enough money to afford cocaine.

  Do you remember "Deadliest catch:Alaskan storm" from 2007-ish? Well, forget it. This is a loneliness and darkness simulator. Seriously, no matter how high sun is, how many lamps are on, it's horribly dark. Crew can be hired, and it even does some work, but.... In my experience, captain had to steer the vessel (which felt incredibly arcady), then run forward to grappling hook, catch the pot (at this point crew kicked in and started actually working), then deposit sorted crabs, decide what to do with the pot (i.e. actively rebaiting it), and then returning to the wheelhouse (which is what? right, daaaaaaaark!) and driving (not sailing, not floating, just driving - it feels like toy car, not 700-ton trawler) to the next buoy. It's very detailed though, and I imagine it might be a good fun in coop mode (I suspect that's the main plan). Also this game probably have most beautiful water. But still, at this point it is technical demo, not a game.

  Seems the only thing the developers are doing at the moment is fishing for your money... Still if you buy it you have an opportunity to catch crabs along with your fellow seamen, have a look at them and then sell them for no point at all. in my opinion this is on the back burner for the developers other games which they also currently have in development (Dog Trainer and Model Builder) im a firm believer on finishing what you start and i get the feeling this is going to be one of those is it done yet in 2025 I will gladly change my review if im wrong.

  This game has the potential to be awesome. However, its so buggy as of the patch on 4/14/20, that its hardly playable. You will spend 2-3 hours working on something for it to freeze and all be gone. Be wary at the moment. I wanted to use the report bug feature but there are so many I don't know where to even start.

  Game overall is good, But there are a lot of glitches. Save the game and come back and the crab in your tank are gone, or the string you set is gone. Also it'd be nice too be able too fish for other crab than just King Crab
