  With the size of the screen a player will go blind. Enable a full screen capability or don't buy this game. It isn't worth losing your vision.

  Ive just purchased this game today. I must say, i am very much so entertained by it. Would love if you things could be fixed thou. Firefights feel nice and sounds is good. 1- full screen. That would be nice. 2- Easy exit from the game. missing 3- easy options that would be able to implement without a restart. 4- zoom in and out of the map would be amazing. Few things that us now day rts gamers are spoiled with. Otherwise the game is fun. The 3/4 of the screen bugs tho. There is a black void on the quater of my screen to the right, and so everything looks smaller. Please add zoom. getting up close and personal is ultra fun. good job devs

  Like others, I played the original Close Combat "Invasion Normandy" game and hoped that I would see improvement in this game. While there are new maps, and it does extend the campaign into the British and Canadian landings, the game is disappointing. The Grand Campaign was the worst feature, as it is impossible to beat the game due to a ridiculous mismatch of forces on the Pegasus Bridge map. You are forced to repeat the battle time after time with no hope of winning due to an abundance of German armor across a bridge that cannot be driven off by lightly armed paratroopers. Similar problems exist with the Ponte du Hoc map in which German artillery and other weapons appear out in the ocean to attack the Allied forces from the rear. Also, there is never any air or artillery support for the Allied forces over a three-day campaign. In short, this game looks good, but it is inaccurate historically, with battle after battle fought on the same maps even though the enemy is routed or destroyed numerous times, A game that does not allow you to advance is not much of a game. Buy only for play on individual maps if those interest you. Do not pay full price.

  spent 30 mins trying to get this game to fit my screen before i called for a refund. if you make a game please ensure people can see it. my verdict is this game is utter RUBBISH.

  Fans of close combat will enjoy this game. The fire fights are good and are at a faster pace than the newer games. However the AI is easy to beat. Motor sniping is way too effective.

  TL;DR: this feels like a half a game, compared with the original release "Invasion Normandy". I will assume in writing this review that you are familiar with the Close Combat franchise, and instead contrast this with the original game "Close Combat 5: Invasion Normandy". I give the game a Thumbs-down for reasons I will outline below. Wikipedia has this game as a "Remake of Close Combat V: Invasion Normandy". It is not! [h1]INTRODUCTION[/h1] Compared with the original game, there are improvements, such as flares for the night airborne operations, expanded airborne operations not present in the first game and some of the effects look a little better; but basically if you put the battle maps side by side, the games look almost identical. Except one costs A$56.95, and the original A$8.95. This is the main reason for the Thumbs-down. But there is another as you will read below. [h1]REVIEW[/h1] While I applaud the inclusion of the U.S. and British landing zones and airborne drops behind the three Commonwealth landing beaches of Gold, Juno and Sword, it comes with a price. A rather stiff price. The entire focus of the original game has been shifted. The entirety of the Cotentan Peninsular campaign, maps heavy with industrial rail and port facilities has been cut out of the game, focusing instead on the British and American airborne around Normandy and the subsequent beach landings. Truly the game has shifted it's focus from "Invasion Normandy" beginning at 0600 to "The Longest Day" from 2300 hrs., 5 June. So no more battles for the Port of Cherbourg, which used to have my old PC grinding almost to a halt. These were some of the best battles of the original game, as really the beach landings are quite boring - more battles of attrition that tactical fights. It's a curious design choice and I would like to know the rationale, but I guess the focus is purely on D-Day, and not any follow-up campaigns ("Gateway to Caen" is of course it's own game, even though Caen was a D-Day objective...not achieved by the overly cautious Montgomery). Caen is included in the Battles section of the game, which wasn't reached so is a bit of a "What If" scenario, but it's as if Cherbourg was being held over for another separate title....which never materialised. I'd like to have seen this as an unprecedented DLC. "Panthers In The Fog" gets as close to this area of operation as it can, but Cherbourg and the Falaise Pocket really need to be explored. Would have made for a great DLC, but of course the series doesn't have DLC's. A strange move by an American company to remove American content and replace it with British content, one which does deserve a big tick. Usually, it's the opposite. But why the omission of the Canadians? Makes no historical sense. [h1]CONCLUSION[/h1] Either way, I enjoyed fighting for Cherbourg so I am going back to the original game and handing this off to those who just wish to focus on D-Day, something I feel was already well covered in the first iteration of the game. Airborne operations, while important to the success of D-Day are well covered in "Last Stand Arnhem" (or "A Bridge Too Far" as the original is called) and unless you wish to focus purely on D-Day and nothing beyond that hectic and bloody day, then you'll enjoy this game. But, the fact they include "Caen" in the Battles section (a battle that did not take place for two weeks after 6 June) shows the developers weren't entirely sure what they were looking for. D-Day, or the Normandy Campaign? You can have both, as the original game proved, if you do not focus heavily on the airborne landings.

  If you're looking for some AH Classic Squad Leader-style wargaming then CC:TLD has your back. So far, entertaining and challenging strategy related to movement, cover, and clearing. Nothing groundbreaking, but a good, steady tactical game. Thumbs up.

  Why would they change the main menu theme, the sound of guns and the locations of campaigns? I know I can get the old version on GOG (which I already did) but why would you cut content from the old game if your new game is basically a remaster? I welcome new additions, but for a old game like this the already existed content should really be there for both nostalgia and replayability. It is already expensive enough at its full price, so please treat the old fans well, as they are basically the only people would pay for a game this old and this low effort remastered.
