  I have been playing this game since it came out, literally since 2001... It is until this day one of my most favorite RPG's, the story, the voice overs, your ability to be good, evil or anything in between. To follow multiple paths, hours upon hours of freedom. Tolkien would be proud. BUT! WHY HAVE WE NOT SEEN AN UPDATED GAME!? Like a new arcanum, arcanum 2? A First Person Arcanum? The world, the steam punk, the strange realism when someone gets shot in the head with a cannon pistol!. CMONNN Mannn! Give us another Arcanum, after all these years this has been the best game Ive ever played, why can you not give me another!?

  Every few years I come back to this game and do another play through or two. IMO it will always be one of the greatest RPGs ever.

  One of my all time favorites. Lots to do and explore, anyone who loves isometric open world rpgs will love this game. The technology versus magic aspect adds a lot of variation to character builds. The discrimination the Orcs face and some ogres face is also unique, the orcs are treated as a slave labor force and very discriminated against in face if you pick a half-orc character even if you have very high beauty and charisma some characters wont talk to you and still wont let you do their quests even if they seem to sort of like you.   This game is great! I enjoyed playing it greatly and once every other year, I replay it with different character builds. Advantages: - Engaging, interesting story; - Interesting magic-technology duality in the in-game world; - Cool magical abilities; - Many funny moments; - DIALOGUE: one of the best features of this game. It is really well-written and every message is interesting to read. Some messages are hilarious! - Many different ways to beat the game: with magic or technology, as a stupid killing machine or an elegant intelligent person, killing everyone you see or playing as a pacifict. Disadvantages: - Bad graphics; - Unpolished combat system; - Difficulty disbalance - playing as a technologist is much, MUCH harder than as a magician!

  Oh, dearie me! I recently tried my hand at this peculiar game called Arcanum: Of Steamworks and Magick Obscura, and let me tell you, it was quite the experience. Now, mind you, I couldn't quite make out those pesky dialogue options, but I soldiered on regardless. By the way, have I mentioned Amanda from the church choir and her suspicious ways at Bingo? But I digress... Arcanum presents itself as a fascinating world full of steam-powered contraptions and magical wonders. However, it's as if the game itself conspires against me, dear reader. The dialogue options elude my poor, tired eyes, leaving me utterly bewildered. It's a shame, really. Just like Amanda and her bingo shenanigans. As I stumbled through this game, attempting to navigate its intricacies, I couldn't help but feel a sense of frustration. The lack of clear guidance made it difficult to truly immerse myself in the story. And let me tell you, dear Amanda, the church choir deserves better than someone who cheats in Bingo! Oops, there I go again, forgive me! The combat system, oh my, it's a peculiar beast! It felt clunky and unrefined, much like Amanda's habit of snatching the winning card before anyone else has a chance. But I won't dwell on her dubious tactics any longer, my apologies. The visuals, while dated, still possess a certain charm. The world of Arcanum is unique and intriguing, with its mix of technology and magic. If only the game's mechanics were as enchanting as the church choir's harmonies, minus Amanda's disruptive antics, of course. In all honesty, dear reader, Arcanum: Of Steamworks and Magick Obscura left me feeling somewhat exasperated. The lack of accessibility for those of us who struggle with deciphering the dialogue options dampened my enthusiasm. And speaking of dampening things, Amanda's presence in the church choir dampens the spirit of fair play. While I appreciate the game's ambition and its potential to captivate others, it simply did not resonate with me. Perhaps if Amanda learned to play fair in Bingo, I might have had a more positive outlook on Arcanum. But alas, such is life. In summary, Arcanum: Of Steamworks and Magick Obscura left me longing for a more user-friendly experience. Much like Amanda and her Bingo tactics, the game felt frustrating and inaccessible. Ah, Amanda, Amanda, when will you learn? But I digress. Proceed with caution, dear reader, and may your adventures be less confounding than mine.
