The Extremist in Every Prophetic Art is a book on literature and news, written by Baha Al-Din Al-Abshihi, who died around 850 AH.

The book “Muhammad bin Ahmed Abi Al-Fath Al-Ashbihi”, “The Extremist in Every Positive Art”, is one of the most important books written by Al-Abshihi and the most widely spread. What purifies the soul, refines morals, refines thought and conscience, and everything that the soul clings to, clings to and is comfortable with.

The book consists of eighty-four chapters. The book focuses on ethics, literature, Arab news, and so on: the humanities in general. The book works by bringing together the diaspora of humanity and arranging them in the form of chapters.

Moreover, it is a comprehensive encyclopedic book for different parties from the arts of literature, wisdom and speech, and it is not based on one subject and a specific idea, but that does not mean that it is a book that is scattered about ideas and topics, lacking prayer and circles, because its author when it was written aimed at a specific goal, which is the development of human virtues in Souls, after having lost in his era in which he lived many of the premises and foundations of its construction due to the circumstances that helped in desecration and promiscuity and the dissolution of the good Islamic values, in addition to the prevalence of many customs and traditions that are not related to the heavenly creed. Effort to collect and arrange a lot of what he targeted within comprehensive chapters of the collections of speech, so that we see the chapter begins either by mentioning verses from the Holy Qur’an appropriate to its subject, and then follows it with hadiths of the Messenger, may God bless him and grant him peace, and does not deviate from its content. Do not be afraid of the meaning intended to prove it, and the end that it aims to highlight through it.

The author has violated a lot of conciliation in most of his chapters, although we sometimes hint at digressions or comments that may be disgusted by taste and alienated by nature because they deviate from the spirit with which the author opens his doors and topics, but we can explain this and return it to the dominant features of most writers of that era One of them was aiming to make his author comprehensive, comprising the most facts and information, so that we find him digging for them within their scope, taking them out of their place, and gathering them all, coordinated, ornate, and arranged under their common banner and one idea, so they appear as a whole, interconnected parts, bound together, coherent, and cast in an organized, speaking compositional form. With the efforts of its author and with his personality, provided with his own recordings, innovative opinions or justified criticisms, these digressions and comments are just some of these episodes through which the writer wanted to add fun and humor after seriousness and sobriety. Investigator Ibrahim Saleh says that Al-Abshihi relied almost entirely on Rabi` Al-Abrar by Al-Zamakhshari, at a time when only a few pages were transmitted from the unique contract. He also relied on other books, including the Hamduni Ticket by Ibn Hamdoun, the lover and beloved of Al-Sirri Al-Rafa, the Siraj Al-Muluk by Al-Tartushi, the Animal Life by Al-Damiri, and the Wonders of Creatures by Al-Qazwini.

The book was printed many times. It was printed in Bulaq Press in 1272 and 1285 AH, Muhammad Shaheen Press in 1277, Castelli Press 1279, Muhammad Mustafa Press 1300, Sharaf Press 1302, Abd al-Razzaq Press 1304, 1306, 1311, and Maymaniyah 1308 and 1321 AH.
