I remember playing Motherload as a kid and was ecstatic to find out that a remake came out! It improves many of the mechanics of the original game while adding many new ones! A great game for passing time.

Great game! I feel its even better than the original however, like almost anything, there are downsides. The multiplayer is local co-op, no option. Thats not too bad, plenty of games function fine local like Magicka and Gauntlet. I feel Super Motherload behaves the same in that aspect, especially with controllers (Plays best with gamepad, Comrade!). The game also seems to lack in content to me but thats remedied by the high replay value. Honestly, thats the only real downside I see and I feel they can easily make it online multiplayer and may even be planning on it. Many complain about the game being too easy and actively ignore hardcore mode or complain about the storyline and how its different from the original. Of course it is, they don't want it to get stale. The graphics are improved of course and I LOVE how it has clever little puzzles that you can solve with different bombs. Nothing feels better that getting a Universe Chain of unobtainium. My brother liked the smelter, I didn't care for it too much. The transmission cutscenes are fully voiced and I absolutely loved that. Honestly, this is one of those games where if you like this type of game but you don't like Super Motherload, its your own damn fault. Many complain about broken textures or black screen and say the GAME is bad for that. Don't listen to them. Great game, great music, great graphics, great replay value, can't really ask for more in a game. BONUS: It comes WITH the original Motherload Goldium edition as well for the nostalgia. Cool.

I remember playing Motherload countless hours in Miniclip many years ago. The original game had some cool mechanics that glued together very well. The drill mechanic was fun, the cycle “drill → get resources → sell → improve → go deeper” was rewarding enough to make you wanna keep going, the fuel meter brought that “push your luck” feeling that made you evaluate the cost / benefit of continue or go back to the base all the time. The first half of Super Motherload was exactly what I was looking for, it felt familiar and very enjoyable. During this period, I realized that the empty fuel meter does not kill you anymore, removing key tension moments and strategic from the original. Some new additions do not work well either: - The story is bland and forgettable. - The characters are shallow. - The decisions the game prompts you to make are meaningless. - The missions which objective is just to roam the map wishing to stumble upon items out of pure luck are just boring and effortless designed. The good thing is that any of these things are deal breakers and the core mechanic is fun enough to handle the game’s progress on its own and keep you engaged at least until everything starts to crumble. The issues start after you reach the last base. Once there you have to cover a ridiculous long distance to face the final boss, forcing you to make tens of travels back and forth in order to build yourself a path. At this point the main fun cycle of the game is gone because ship’s improvements are already pointless, this makes the whole section feels extremely repetitive, tedious and not fun. Once reaching the final boss things get worst. Fighting it required you a new set of skills that were not used in any other part of the game before. Also the boss is unforgiving, at the smallest error it’s game over and back to the base to repeat the excessive long drop before being able to retry the boss fight. This greatly adds to the frustration you already carried over on the last hours of the game wrapping up an overall very bad experience. I would not be surprised if the amount of players reaching the final boss and dropping the game without beating it is very high.

A great game, but found it completely unplayable due to repeatedly crashing during the simultanious use of C4 both single player and multiplayer co-op with my friend Kurt. I've troubleshooted on the forums, seen multiple people reporting it almost more than 6 months ago, with no reply and no news of a fix. If not for this, I would reccomend, otherwise, don't waste your money.

Bought it only for the Goldium Edition. Game ist still good and recommended. Super Motherload may worth it ifyou have friends to play. I didn't enjoy it. Goldium plays well on a Steam Deck!

Dig, Collect, Refuel, Repeat – Addictive but ultimately unrewarding and lacking replayability – 4/10 Super Motherload seems like a good game at first, especially if you played Motherload Goldium back in the day. Upon further playing, you realize how little content there actually is, and how mobile-like the concept is, leaving you with a bad feeling after a long play session. The game comes from a flashgame developer, that’s why it feels so similar to a mobile game; activating your reward center in the brain with every mineral that you collect. But let’s get some good things out first: It is fun to explore what comes by digging deeper, especially in local coop, trying to go for big chains is also an interesting addition, plus the newly added little puzzles. Ultimately there are way too many things wrong with the game. It’s lacking heavily in content, after one playthrough there is not much incentive to play again. The biggest flaw by far is the lack of fuel. The fuel runs out so quickly that, in the beginning, you can literally only dig for around 30 seconds before having to refuel. Even with all the upgrades it never gets better, only when you start to buy backup fuel tanks, you can stay somewhat long enough down there. In hardcore mode this is even worse, as you die when the fuel runs out, which leads to you having to go up for refilling even quicker. The story is also poorly presented over some text message signals you get, no engagement, nothing. Spoiler alert: On every base that you eventually come to there is chaos in the storyline signals, when you get there everything is alright and you can simply refuel etc. You never actually meet anyone there. Another annoyance, when playing with multiple other players, you are automatically kicked out after standing still for 15 seconds, ruining your chain. This often happens when standing still to figure out a puzzle. The special upgrades that you can buy in the bases are really interesting, unfortunately most of them are so expensive that you can only get them in late game, even though you often need them way earlier to have fun. We also experienced a lot of sound bugs, in the first stages of the game, they fd up some audio files, creating an annoying clicking noise while flying; seems like some other players have similar problems on the steam forums. Overall we expected so much more from this, having so many ideas how they could have made the game more interesting and rewarding to play, instead they probably rushed out the game for the PS4 release. Things that would make the game more interesting: - monsters like worms, that eat minerals and attack you - being able to also dig vertically - a story with character interaction - more fuel - more minerals - bigger caves to explore 100%-Achievement-Difficulty: Easy to middle, takes some time to complete the game several times, and the hardcore more is annoying with so little fuel. Playing this game with three friends is incredibly fun. It gives a great mix of interesting puzzles, leizurely grind, and the occasional frantic burst.

Motherload is probably the only flash game I really got into. Super Motherload is pretty much the same core gameplay as the original, with more polish. You pilot a mining bot that can drill downward and side-to-side but not upward. The resources you gather can be used to upgrade your bot's drill speed, fuel tank size, cargo room, etc. allowing you to drill deeper and deeper thus getting more valuable resources. Eventually you can drill deep enough to get to the core and there is an end 'boss' that you fight using dynamite and other consumables. This all may sound somewhat simple but the game is a lot of fun. The addition of local co-op makes for an easy to pickup game to play with friends. You do have to coordinate though to not let anyone get stuck by moving too far ahead. -Playtime- It really depends on your own pacing and how fast you try to push toward the core. Likely a good 6 hours to beat on a first playthrough. Subsequent play throughs can be done in only 1-2 hours if rushing. -Achievements- Basically just beating the game with each of the characters. Once you understand the game mechanics subsequent play throughs go much quicker.
