  TLDR: It was definitely worth the wait :) Gamescom 2021 track is called "Lock In". If you watched one of Gamescom trailers, they didn't lie. That's exactly how the game looks like when you play it Story-wise it's not that great. You play as Babyface, a sleeper agent woken up by a mysterious drone. Gangs are going wild out on the streets are you are going to stop them. During the story you learn more about Babyface, the person controlling the drone and the person responsible for unrest in the city. If it comes to graphics - they are really nice, nothing to complain about. Blood looks great :) Gameplay is really enjoyable. Light and heavy punches, parries, dodges and 2 more moves unlocked later during the story. Every level you get a skill point that you can spend in total of five skill trees. Finishers are just wonderful. Also I really like protagonist's animations while holding a gun. The game wouldn't be as good without the soundtrack. Noisecream did a wonderful job creating 48 tracks you're able to hear during your playthrough. It's definitely music I'm going to listen even while not playing this game.

  Solid beat 'em up game. Ton of customization options for the main character, the only notable exception being the character's gender. The combat's pretty fun, though not without a bit of jank and a few redundant mechanics. Combat is generally quick and snappy, as you jump from enemy to enemy pulverizing them into the ground before leaping onto the next one. I rarely felt the game was "unfair", though there were a few annoying levels in the mid-late section that had me dying over and over. Thankfully this game takes a page out of Hotline Miami; it just takes one button press to be right back at a checkpoint, no loading times involved. While this means it's easy to get back into the action after failure, the game has quite the narrative focus, full of short dialogue boxes and mini cutscenes. This does feel at odds with the gameplay, and I found it hard to pay full attention to what was going on in the story when you're switching gears constantly, so to speak. It wasn't *too* intrusive for me though, and when replaying levels, you have options to automatically skip all dialogue/cutscenes. This only took me about 5 hours to beat, but there's a good amount of replay value, with challenges for all 40 levels unlocking unique skins and new "perks", cheats/modifiers that change the way the game works at the price of disabling challenge progression. Since you can upgrade the player character with multiple new skills along the way, revisiting earlier levels to improve your time/score becomes much easier, as all player upgrades can be used in earlier levels. I do wish you could activate multiple cheats at once though, since combining infinite ammo with explosive bullets sounds like fun. All in all, it's a solid beat 'em up. The story is creative, to say the least, and lends itself to giving you wild encounters for fast, frenetic brawling and gunplay, against a surprisingly diverse assortment of enemy types. The soundtrack is great too, and really fits the hyperviolent nature of the world, and your place in it. I had a lot of fun playing through for the first time, and I'm sure I'll have a lot of fun replaying levels to clear the challenges, too.

  This game features smooth dynamic combat and makes it the game's selling point. It is a fun top down brawler which for the most part gets it right. The moves were all mocapped to provide a smoother experience, but one gripe I have is on level 30/40. Upon stumbling on the final quarter of the campaign we are introduced to enemies that will instantly parry you without any indicator, punishing you for the pre-established pattern that the game wanted you to get into- beating up people without hesitation. They overall slow down the rhythm of the game and force you to play passively. Playing on the hardest difficulty only makes this more frustrating. Guns in this game can prove to be troublesome at times with the awkward dodges that feel too long yet too short at times. On harder difficulties the guns tend to chunk out a substantial amount of health and some levels are just riddled with nothing but guns. Similar games that feature this kind of combat are Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor and Batman: Arkham City. Those games capitalize on the combat system they've implemented and do not force you to slow down as a result of a few measly enemies. I like this game, sure, but due to gimmicks like this- the game feels more of a chore than anything later on.

  Yes but...there's a lot that hurts it in my opinion. The actual combat is incredibly fun--feels a bit like an isometric Arkham game and the depth gradually grows as you play. Really feels fantastic to fistfight against six or eight enemies. Then the gimmicks start showing up and it just grinds that fun to a halt. Guns feel out of place and force you into a lot of dodge rolling. Then there are enemies like the slashers that not only have annoying combos but they can attack so fast and CANNOT be interrupted by any of your attacks outside of a thrown object or your side arm (which you don't get till later on) that interrupt the flow, especially if your gun is on recharge. These wouldn't be so bad but they interrupt the fun, its more annoying than challenging. Oh, and (some of) your finishers and every one of your grapples can be interrupted--skip the grapples entirely. The chase sequences aren't bad but they don't feel very responsive--they feel shoehorned in and in my opinion? Overstay their welcome. The gunplay gets a bit better when you've gotten use to it and more enemies drop them but...look, I signed up for a brawler and while an occasional gun is nice to mix it up, I'm really here to break arms, kneecaps or jam knives into the eye sockets of a bunch of no named thugs. The brawling and hand-to-hand combat is fun as hell, that's what I want more of and the game has an absolutely nasty habit of interrupting my good time with something nowhere near as enjoyable. It's like eating a chocolate chip cookie that has a single raisin in it, or having a make-out session with an incredibly attractive person only to suddenly stop to do five minutes of algebra in between lip locking. Why would you do this? Why? Its not awful it can be amazingly fun--but gods, those rough spots are freakin' rough. I'd nab it when it's on sale.
