  "Flowerpots are quite effective against Barnacles." ~No-one but the player. Half-Life: Alyx is, even 3 years after its release, one of the best VR games out there. It is clear that the developers went all out on this game. The story, the mechanics, the environment, the interactions, puzzles and hidden secrets make the game feel very alive. I would consider the game more an adventure rather than a FPS. The game houses 3 different guns you can upgrade as the play the story. Unfortunatly the game has no melee wepons for you to use. Besides weapons and grenades you are equiped with a set of Gravity-Gloves, a special set of gloves that allows you to pull in items from around you. While the gloves are not as obviously usefull like a gun, they can be used in a lot of creative ways to help you, both in and out of combat. The movent the game offers are both locomotion and teleport. Crouching is done by, well, crouching. Jumping is however, not part of the game. The story takes place in a city you won't travel far in. Map wise is seems like a short walk but the levels are plentyfull. On the streets, though the building, metrostations and even further underground you will face many different environments on a play-through. The story is intense and well-paced. Everywhere you find silly humors and funny achievment challenges. Half-Life: Alyx is a must play for those who have a VR set. And when you do get to play the game, say hi to Jeff for me.

  really fun and impressive both campaign + game play is wonderfully enjoyable, it is very good after the campaign i highly recommend downloading mods to play with because just replaying the story is kinda boring (imo) mods will pretty much be the saving grace for this game after completing that

  I really like this game, easily the best VR game out there. My problem is that no matter what I do, at one specific point about halfway through the story, the game gets stuck in an eternal loading screen to a new map. I tried checking file integrity, I tried creating a whole new playthrough, I tried reinstalling the game, yadda yadda... Nothing I did would help. Again, really great game but due to this problem it becomes impossible to progress at a certain point.

  This game is highly engaging and you feel like you are in Alyx's world. It is difficult but not too difficult even for a 67 year old gamer like me :)

  Bought VR INDEX for retirement. Son built me a gaming computer. Took 8 months for a graphics card. (decent price). All lit up! First game was Half Life. Can't play anything else. I was spoiled to other games without a doubt. I'm a newbie to all this. But the graphics, sounds, gunfights, humor, etc...., was exhilarating. I will often just stay in an area and check out the detailing for 10-15 minutes. Relax. Then KILL again!

  Honestly - if you are just getting into VR, I'd recommend waiting a bit with this game and to start with other VR games. Why? Because this is not only the best VR game on the market right now, it is years ahead of every other game. Playing this as your first VR game will make every other game feel like a letdown.

  Half life Alyx is the best reintroduction into the Half Life universe possible. Even though Valve says this isn't HL3; this most certainly is. I played with a Oculus CV1 comfortably. Even on low fidelity settings, the game looked beautiful. 13 years was definitely worth waiting for this masterpiece. Unfortunately, My Father, who introduced me to the half life series, passed in 2016 to brain cancer and never got to see such an amazing title and what the future of gaming will be. I love you dad.

  valve made me pay $1000 to play a new half life game and the worst part is that it was worth every single penny
