  This may be considered the worst of the Fallout games, but it is my favorite by far. I have played to the end about 4 or 5 times using different character types and squad magement strategies. Over a dozen playthru's, I got the steam version because I got fed up with having a virtual mount of my original CD's, which I still have. I liked Fallout 1 and 2 but stopped playing all other Fallout games after this one with the exception of Fallout Shelter. Once they went to a FPS engine I could no longer play the series. Physical handicap prevents me from playing any FPS games (I get severely dizzy) I consider this to be the precursor to the XCOM type squad based games. It would have been awsome if Bethesda had come out with a Fallout Tactics 2 in the same vein as XCOM, tactical battles outside the Vault and a Fallout Shelter setup inside the Vault.

  Let me be perfectly clear: I highly recommend this game. I do NOT recommend this version of the game. get the GOG version, instead. This one can not run in full screen, the graphics are glitchy, and it's not worth it even for the price. I don't know how the steam version could be such garbage.

After almost 20 years I am still planning it. Incredible gameplay options. You can actually play it as 2 different game types.

  Back in the day I was dissapointed Fallout Tactics wasn't a 'real' roleplaying game like Fallout 1 & 2. Being a huge fan of the series I still gave this game a try and I wasn't dissapointed to say the least. Fallout Tactics, like the name already says, is a tactical game in the Fallout universe. You start by creating your main character and give him/her the skills you prefer. You start out with 2 other squad members and as the game progresses your squad members level up so you can adjust their skills like all (PC) Fallout games. After each mission you enter the worldmap to go to different locations like you're bunker where you can recruit new squad members and/or buy/sell equipment. Squad members can ofcourse die and won't return (unless you load your savegame). What sets Fallout Tactics apart from other tactical games for me: 1. The variety of enemies. Sometimes you'll be battling Bugs, the other time you will be facing Super Mutants and several other enemies I won't name here (spoilers). Every enemy calls for a different approach. 2. The variety of missions. Sometimes you will have to rescue people, sometimes you have to do an escort mission. Also in most missions you've got a vehicle at your disposal. 3. The variety of weapons. Fallout Tactics has a huge range of weapons, both realistic and unrealistic but they all fit in the game nicely. 4. The use of skills in a game. Lockpicking, Healing, Defusing... it's all there. 5. Different 'races'. Your squad may also contain different kinds of races like ghouls and Super Mutants. All of them ofcourse have their own speciality/skills. 6. Gameplay. The tactical combat just works really well in this game as a tactical game should obviously. Everytime you make a clean kill feels very good. 7. Graphics. The graphics have aged very well in my opinion. Blood and gore is ofcourse included and every kill feels satisfying. 8. Last but not least; The Fallout universe. Simply put in my opinion Fallout Tactics is still the best tactical game out there. Although I have to admit it's partially due the Fallout universe. I have played the XCOM series and Jagged Alliance and this game is still number 1 in my book.

  [b]Fallout Tactics: Brotherhood of Steel[/b] is a really great and underrated Fallout game, mostly because almost everyone thinks that this is the PS2 Fallout: Brotherhood of Steel, which is yes a really horrendous game, but thankfully it is not that game. This Fallout game is not considered canon and when you play it, you can understand why. [b][u]Pros:[/u][/b] - It's a really long game [i](About 35-40 hours to finish the campaign)[/i] - Character Customization at the beginning who will be your main character - You can switch between Turn-Based and Real-Time mode - Great voice acting - The graphics are great for its time. An upgraded version of Fallout 1-2's graphics - The soundtrack is really good - Squad based gameplay - Multiple Brotherhood camps, where you can sell your loot, buy guns, ammo, healing and other stuff, and also switch between your squadmembers. - It has RPG elements, such as skills and looting - Tons of weapons and items [b][u]Neutral:[/u][/b] - Turn-based mode is janky, I sticked to real-time. - No talking heads like in Fallout 1-2 - Managing all your squad members' inventory can be overwhelming, but you can get used to it over time - If the character you made dies, the game ends. - "Comic" cutscenes, which I am not a fan of, it feels low budget. - Kinda Open World, you can go anywhere on the map, get random encounters, but mostly you will just go on missions. - The story is okay, and I can understand why this game is not canon. [b][u]Cons:[/u][/b] - No 2x Scaling, like in Fallout 1-2 - At 1080p, Cutscenes are played in a little box, because there is no option for 2x Scaling - The game feels really laggy even with high refresh rate, but you can get used to it. - When you have too much FPS at the Map Screen, random encounters can occur every 2 pixels. It's said that limiting the FPS to 30 can lower the chances of random encounters. - Too many unfair RNG situations - At some places you can find invisible mines, that you cannot detect, which will cause you lots of frustrations. - The hover bot enemy is simply not fun to fight against. [b]8/10[/b] All in all it's a really great Fallout game which is overlooked by almost everyone. Even with all its issues and design flaws, it's a great experience.   Fallout Tactics emphasizes tactical combat and strategy but limited interactions with non-player characters, but they can still be traded with. Instead of towns, Fallout Tactics centers around Brotherhood bunkers and missions. The bunkers serve as a central point for the Brotherhood, and players can obtain the services of quartermasters, mechanics, personnel yeomen, and medics. Combat in Fallout Tactics is a bit more complicated than the previous two Fallout games. Unlike those, which featured an individual turn-based system, Fallout Tactics features three combat types: Continuous Turn-Based (everyone can act at the same time, and action points are regenerated at a rate based on Agility), Individual Turn-Based (used in the original games) and Squad Turn-Based (each turn is given to a squad and include the ability to change stance, modifiers for height, and setting sentry modes). Fallout Tactics is also the first of the Fallout games to feature a multi-player mode. In this mode, each player controls a squad of characters and faces off against opposing players. During game setup, players are granted a number of points with which to purchase squad members and gear. Although the main character in the single player game has to be human, recruits from the brotherhood and characters in multiplayer matches can be of any of the six races featured in the game. Humans, Super Mutants, Ghouls, Deathclaws, Dogs or Humanoid Robots.

  I love the game! I just hate what steam did with the version which thay are offering! GUYS WHAT THE HELL !!!!???? Its not running in full windows, doesnt cooperate with windows 10 cause there is some bug regarding directX7. I need a solution to this problem i really want to play it !   I bought fallout tactics in summer sale for windows 10 and [b] it wouldn't run full screen[/b] it came up as an error display X2X7something. I did manage to fix it though([b]fix below[/b]) I did take me a while and I hope this helps others who bought this game and have issues launching it. I heard that people had issues with the stability of the game; this fix should help too.
