  With that out of the way, this is a great game with incredible depth. If you can survive the learning curve you will have a great time.

  there's nothing really like it, it just throws you in and you gotta learn via manuals and such the old school way. It's very unforgiving but that's part of its charm.

  core gameplay is good, wont lie there, but the game is stupid difficult to progress in and updates come out only once a year. the progress part is because i had cleared all the rooms and I couldnt get past this gate. how to open the gate? well I got 2 guesses, one was to go around and try to find some levers which i saw in a video, or another where a guy found a key under a bottle. so I went and looked for levers and couldnt find any, and there is no way in hell i am going to go around the map and pick up every single damn bottle. so thats why I refunded.

  This game has been in early access for years, and progress is being made at a glacial pace. There is little more to it than the novel physics based combat, which gets old after only a few hours. This is just another one of the those unfinished kickstarter video games by an extremely naive, deceptive, and incapable developer.

  I have 7 hours in this game and all of them were spent on the first level looking for keys to progress never actually found them they were probably under a table in a random dark room still a cool idea and maybe it gets better on the second level

  This is a solid recommend with some caveats, and I can't exactly put into words what grips me about this game but I am going to start patiently waiting for Sui Generis. Pros - Ambience is good, genuinely makes the "story mode" dungeon very nerve-wracking to venture around in with or without music. Combat feels pretty sweet, hits when landed feel great, feels very responsive (too much for a mouse throwing individual like myself haha). It does have a steep learning curve but once you get to grips using the arena tutorials (Basic and Expert) it becomes very enjoyable. Even watching NPCs just duke it out against eachother. All the features and inclusions feel consistent and inclusive with the world its portraying. Taking into mind the product as is and what it represents (An open-to-play variant of a larger, in dev pre-alpha game) it is a solid game into itself. A lot better than some games of its price. Cons - Stamina is pointless if you get knocked down in front of a stationary, non-patrolling enemy. You will be knocked out, again and again, until you quit or die. Getting up from this is slow and doesn't provide the ability to dodge while getting up, making it very easy to get overhead swung. Mind thaumatergy makes everything ridiculously easy in the dungeon mode, adding some limits to this could make things better for satisfying gameplay. But its an understandable inclusion as its a feature that'd need testing. It's also easy enough to avoid if not interested. Its all fun and games when enemies are human, overly frustrating when other enemy types don't work alongside the general rules that humans and related enemies (undead, skeletons) have taught you about until this point. Suppose the point is that not all battles are winnable and you need to choose engagements but its still obnoxious how fast and damaging some of the lower floor enemies are. I enjoy the ogre battles too. Arena career mode suffers from grind fatigue, the inability to earn a lot of money for the rediculous costs of hiring higher end fighters (costs spiral around Novice). I've never had above 7 gp because of investing in armor and resources, you're telling me buddy you're worth 25 gp? That's more costly than an ogre payout. Arena AI sort of just, dances around eachother. It takes a long time to actually finish up AI battles. Not to mention AI's random "stops" mid match, typically when finding a new foe. And AI inability to react to new stimuli (being flanked). Suggestions - Adding a dungeon delver mode for arena could really help out things both with the state of Arena and with development. With the intent to look for gold, jewels and weapons (Increases the potential for more money at a cost of possibly losing people like in the story mode) This can also be used to test new monster ideas and refine the engine development process. Could be procedural generated, or picked from some presets (working this into Inept, Aspirant etc) and perhaps there's specific weapons/items that can be used in the dungeon like potions or spells (or the slotted armor like with golems). It would also just be more fun. I can understand if this isn't implemented as I'm sure Exanima is to fulfil a particular role outside of Sui Generis and this sort of feature would be part of that game.
