  Bottom line up front: The quality and style I've come to expect of Scriptwelder. If you liked Don't Escape 1, 2, or 3, you'll probably like this. If you haven't played them, go try it, they're free on plenty of online game sites. Pros: Style is stylistic without being too simple. The amount of detail in environmental effects over time is neat. Plot is solid. Variable scenarios enhance replay value. The entire presentation is solid and fun. Cons: Sometimes gets a little pixel-hunty. Occasionally puzzles are very obscure. Commentary: I loved this game. It's better than what I expected. However, it occasionally ends up with wandering around or save scumming because of obscure puzzles or items I couldn't see. It's still excellent, and while I just finished it, I'll be going right back in after this review. For people who played the first three games, this game is much less strict about getting everything perfectly, but sometimes only getting close means you make it to the next day, but not without some real pain. It's nice to show my appreciation not for one great game, but seven years of great games. I highly recommend this game. Edit: Removed "There's some scenarios that, as far as I can tell, are no-win." from cons. Unclear situations and bugs that stonewalled me have been dealt with since launch. You can still back yourself into a corner, but every problem you have is of your own creation.

  THIS game is AMAZING, theres so many alternatives for everyone, each playthrough is slightly different, theres a really good story to it all! Id definitely recommend this game, even if you dont really care for point and click, this one has replayability, which most point and clicks dont have! This game has you gather materials, solve puzzles, and fight off against any possible danger! This game is a masterpiece!

  Wow. Scriptwelder outdid himself with this one. The level of content, the different paths and scenarios, endings, everything was just so well done. I highly recommend this game to everyone, and please play his previous games. Lots of easter eggs and shared lore, which really improved my overall gameplay. I'm glad I saved this for last.

  WHAT. A. STORY. The story is a masterpiece. I just finished the game (once) and my god, everything that happened from the beginning to the end made complete sense. 10/10 stars for me. Worth every coin I spent on this one. Kudos to scriptwelder!

  I have to say that I'm very happy I purchased [i]Don't Escape 4[/i]. Its full title of course says "4 Days to Survive," but it is a clever way to play on the fact that it is actually the 4th game in a series by this developer. Nevertheless, don't let that deter you at all! I knew nothing about the other games, and the developer definitely set this title up to be playable without any previous knowledge, as there's no direct continuation. The basic premise of this game is that you are in the middle of a wasteland after an event messed up Earth, and you will be spending 4 days to, well, survive until the end of the game. To do so, you have to scour for items, set up defenses and prep areas to stay in - basically to get ready for whatever is coming. The game separates each of the days by giving you a premonition of what you will encounter, and you have to prepare based upon that. What is interesting is that each day has multiple possibilities that are randomly selected, so you might start the game off with a different event than someone else. Granted, the actual events are not infinite, but it is still interesting for replayability. You are given a time limit for each day and have to travel around the map and do whatever you think makes the most sense to prepare for your threat. The time limit is done nicely in that only certain events (like traveling between locations or doing heavy labor) will actually decrease your time. Walking around and looking, doing puzzle mini-games, talking, and so on will not actually consume your time. So generally you won't feel rushed while exploring. Only once you use up too much of your time will you then have to worry about everything. Planning is the main focus of the game, though some of it is a little bit of luck. You might unlock new locations, and if you travel to one first, you might later find you need to get an item from somewhere else and then come back to this place. Thus you might luck out on where you pick to travel first, but of course you can make saves and reloads if you really want to. But for the most part, 100%-ing every day is feasible so long as you think about what items benefit you at a given moment. You can drop items and they will stay there forever, thus you can return later if you need them, which is a plus. Whenever you choose to end the day (or your simply run out of time), the game plays a recap of events explaining things that were beneficial and/or detrimental, and whether you passed the day or not. If you pass a certain threshold, you will survive, although sometimes bad events can still happen ([spoiler]e.g., an NPC might die if you didn't prepare enough[/spoiler]). If you don't survive, you can reload and try to figure out what you're missing. And it's also beneficial to keep saves at different points because of that, in case you wasted a bunch of time traveling in a bad order. I think that the game was very fun with its theme and gameplay, and the writing was pretty interesting as you learned pieces here and there about what is actually going on. The ending of the game got me a little bit, and I'm intrigued to play another time and see different events and learn more about the story. The last remark, which I should've said earlier, is that the game is somewhat horror-themed, but not heavily. Some of the events are definitely creepy and there's tension, but it's not like there's crazy jump scares or things actively chasing you. So you don't have to worry about other gameplay styles deterring your exploration and planning. All in all, I highly recommend giving this game a try!
