ميزات Crystal Rift

A grid-based dungeon-crawler, in classic first person perspective.

Crystal Rift is an inspired by classic dungeon games such as Dungeon Master and Eye of the Beholder with grid-based movement, it has been developed primarily for Virtual Reality headsets, but is also a great experience for those without headsets.

It's an experiential horror challenge game that takes the player through a series of increasingly mysterious locations. Crystal Rift has 26 levels, with unique styles and settings, to provide many hours of gameplay. The player slowly uncovers the narrative and story through exploration, discovering dark secrets and following the path of those who have come before.

Use the In Game Dungeon Editor to build entirely new adventures and challenges for other players to solve.

  • Classic dungeon crawling experience with grid-based movement, monsters, hidden rooms, pressure plates, trapdoors, fireballs, challenges, tactics and more.

  • Designed for Virtual Reality First, this leads to a rich immersive 3D environment with details you can lean into and see, this also presents perfectly in 2D.

  • A unique and compelling story told through the environment, text and speech

  • Optional Scare level, Off, Normal or Extreme

  • Optional Difficulty levels including hardcore perms-death

  • 26 Levels with many hours of gameplay.

  • An ingame Editor, you can create, edit and share maps built inside the game, no external tools required.

WARNING: Crystal Rift is an intense (but awesome) experience in VR, it takes time to get your VR Legs, please take baby steps if you are sensitive to locomotion in VR play in very short sessions and perhaps try cages, sitting down and a controller if you are still effected, the second you feel a bit of nausea please stop and take a break

I'm glad I was able to get this on sale. I understand what the game is going for. It's trying to be a 3D version of a top down console dungeon crawler. Complete with grid based movement. I can forgive this game many things due to it's commitment to the retro style. But the puzzling thing is why they went with a one hit kill mechanic. The first thing you see in the game is your heart meter. Which I assumed was how many hits I could take before dead. Instead it's some bizzare respawning mechanic. And things that would normally knock you back and take a heart away in classic games intead kills you. You lose a heart and you respawn a ways away. Until you run out of hearts. This makes things like the spike traps more trouble than theyre worth. And skeletons moving their sword at you and the screen going black and appearing a fet feet away feels wonky and underdeveloped. The sword combat is a really floaty and unsatisfying. Combat just plain feels wrong. Everything feels just out of reach. The world feels unnaturally chlostrophobic due to the grid based movement. A perk the game might of exploited if you could actually press your forehead against the door in front of you. Instead some magical barrier keeps you away from the walls. Which is instantaneously immersion breaking. Not being able to move while you charge your sword is also a strange choice that left me feeling unduly frustrated. The sad truth is that everything in this game feels like a chore. And that's a shame. Because with a few gameplay tweaks this could be one of the best dungeon crawlers on Vive. I honestly can't recommend it. There are better, similar experiences out there.

Review of v0.9.4 The Good Movement options to reduce sickness. Grid based movement is better than expected. Side stepping is so easy in VR. Excellent music. Puzzles / Platforming felt just right. The Bad Oh God, the headaches. So much pain. Scale is wrong, everything feels small. Flashlight in a dungeon doesn't make sense. Needs more amient light from tourches and such. Music has hard cuts from room to room. $20 is too much for the full consumer release. Techincal Issues Peformance issues in about 10% of Act 1. Half of menus don't have head tracking. Don't commit your ".DS_Store" files. General Immpressions Was on the fence after watching some Youtube gameplay, but feel good in my purchase. Not really worth it yet as a consumer, but backing up development seems good. There is a lot of potential here if they put the effort in. Made me a firm believer of VR Dungeon Crawlers. Hopefully this will encourage others to dip into the genere.

Bought today, hoping this game was like the old Dungeon Hack game on the Amiga. It looks similar, but it is not. No inventory, skeletons 1 hit killing me, I have to dodge back and forth instead of blocking with a shield. I'm just a nameless being, not a character at all. Often lag would negate a keytap or cause you to do it more than once. This just isn't fun. I didn't pay much for this game. For that I'm grateful.

Cannot recommend. Not amongst the best grid based dungeon crawlers, not even near, but interesting enough to warrant a play. BUT, the only savegame per level is at the beginning of each level, and it s a ONE time save only. When I entered the 10th level I found myself unable to move from the beginning position. I could swing the sword, look around but not leave the square I was standing on. I was forced to leave the level, and begin AGAIN the previous level I had just completed. BUT, the sequence was broken there, some doors already opened, but I didnt have all gems, and a bug : I found a skeleton standing where a giant rock ball passes rolling. The rock didnt kill the skeleton, but he could kill me as usual. The skeleton was unaffected by my sword, my fireballs passed right through him, as the rock did. Had to uninstall the game.

Tried out at EGX on the Vive and bought it as soon as I got back for my DK2. [strike] No complaints with what I've tried so far except the fact that it doesn't appear to work with an Xbox One controller. [/strike] EDIT: Fixed with the latest patch, no issues. I would definately recommend as it is a great VR game.

Good game. I can see why it is disliked though. I personally didn't and don't want to play the story even though it seems fun. I wanted my own moldable exerience. I play for the editor in its entirety. The editor is fun and i spent many hours doing it. This is my favorite Vive game now. If you do buy this game and need help learning the editor read this review. It took hours to discover this on my own. Pressing t will allow you to use the block you are facing to trigger a trap, song, scare, door -exe. When you create a level do it NOT in vr mode it will be alot harder. Dont place down an alien block without testing it first. Pressing n will change the state of an object [on or off]. Most monsters can only move on their type of block. If you have anymore problems look at the control guide. I recommend this game for those who want to create for others or for themselfs. I think the hate this game is getting is because its hard to learn.

Ehh... Not quite what I expected, bot not bad. My expectations were that I would get a more "classic" dungeon crawling experience with character leveling,equipment-collecting and action. These are all where this game falls short of the target. The game is quite atmospheric and it can get a bit spoopy at time so I give it that. The controls respond pretty quickly and there is no major delays. I did have problems with stepping backwards but it might have been my controller acting up. There are no RPG-elements. Absolutely none. No leveling up, no inventory. The only power increase you are getting as you progress through the game are the sword power-ups which gives you a ranged attack and makes it more effective against certain enemy types. That's it. You can collect skulls and statues, and replenish lost lives with red vials (1) or bottles(fills life counter). You also collect gems and keys to open doors. The enemies are the usual unimaginative generic skellingtons and stuff, so nothing new there. Graphically the game is okay if you can put up with the low-polycount enemies and simple, repetitive wall-textures. However it still performs well in its task of creating an atmospheric dungeon. The puzzles are typical for a grid-based dungeon crawler. Pulling levels, shooting projectiles and pushing buttons, and some timed gauntlets/tasks with risk of getting a fireball in the face and such. The biggest letdown I got across is the health-system, or lack thereof. Basically you have "hearts", which are same as your lives. If you get hit by an enemy or fall off into a trap the screen INSTANTLY fades into black and the game plays an "Aaaahh!"-sound with an animation of one of the hearts falling apart. You never even get to see what happened. Then you are teleported a few steps back to the entrance of the room. Enemies do not reset so they have same amount of health when you come back to them. Not exactly immersive. I would have preferred seeing a heart disappear from my HUD when I am hit and carry on playing instead of having my gameplay interrupted. But despite of these shortcomings it is a fairly solid little game. It really could use some extra polish but it has a lot of potential. I'd probably recommend this to an older player who is new to VR and isn't into a frantic gameplay and enjoys an atmospheric game. I'd give this game a 7.5/10. I bought this game on 75% sale for €2,.49, so it was worth my money. I suggest getting it when it is on sale. I didn't encounter many bugs, but I managed to get myself stuck into a room when I was backtracking to look for hidden areas .
The rooms with mummies before stairs down.
This game is well-worth your money if you own an Oculus Rift, honestly the best Rift-game I've tried so far and it feels way more real than I first thought it would. Definitely going to spend more time on this game.

A friend got me this game as a christmas present, and I was initially somewhat excited for it. I feel like while this game, or more specifically this style of game might work well on a more traditional IO setup, it doesnt work well with VR. As other reviewers have pointed out, there's no ability to walk around, you just push a button to move, And you have to turn to move in a new direction, causing the cord to get tangled around your feet if you arent careful. The battle style is somewhat silly, as swinging the sword doesnt do much good, instead you have to push a button to swing it. You might as well play the game with a controler and just wear the VR headset as a display while sitting in a chair. Also, I'm not normally prone to motion sickness, but the animations this game presents when you push the button to move to the next square is like you slid to the next square, and that did get me a bit sick. It would be much better if you simply "teleported" and the screen faded out and faded back in at the new location.

UPDATE: No updates in about a year, avoid. The motion of this game in VR is very disorienting and gets me and others who tried it very sick very fast. That needs to somehow be corrected. Moving with the VR controller doesn't make any sense. It doesn't change direction based on where you're facing, this gets disorienting fast, causing a lot of deaths just because of the controls. Forward should always move you forward etc. Right now it's locked for north, south, east, west. There's a lot of missed potential with VR. Why can't I reach out and grab a lever? A button press? Same for swinging your sword, a button press. That's weak. It's the little things that make VR satisfying, and this game misses the point entirely. Combat seems janky and the movement of the enemies doesn't seem in line with VR, It's very hard to dodge attack ETC it feels like you're supposed to just move back with the controller, again, missing the point of why VR is so good. Other than that it's a decent old school grid based dungeon crawler, it just needs to be worked out for VR a lot better, so it gets a thumbs down until everything is worked out.
