Are you serious? Good work only from artists, what did the others do? They tried at all? Did they even try on this? Well, there is many levels, up to 10 hours of gameplay, as the creators say. But change only locations and adds new enemies. No progression in skills or stats at all. It's will become boring by the third hour. And, what surprised me the most - in "options" i found only credits and level select. And intro. Settings were scared of the Obelix and ran away? Count with me, yahoo! You can't: Change resolution Change window mode Change volume Change language (special thanks for spit in russian players faces again) Rebind keys (!), and can't change no one from all settings, that you ever seen in games, because there NO settings! Even configs in data! What, by Tootatis name, the hell is it!? No, i can't recommend this, because more than settings problem, you may have problems with gamepad and co-op. To be fair, gameplay is pleasant and smooth, but too monotonous for 7-10 hours. Yea, also sometimes can be a "special levels" with little different gameplay, and some type of traps on locations. Twise i saw fps drop for a 3 sec, dont know what was the reason of that. Optimisation is normal. But the other points... No, not recommend. Not for that price.

This game initially won me over with its visual style, but what do I see? There are no settings, no controls, no audio-video. The only language is English. And the gameplay is incredibly boring. I went through five or six levels and they differed only in the backgrounds. I will overpower myself and continue to play, but so far it just sucks. UPD. I've got approximately to the middle of the second act and the game is still boring af. Ofcourse, they may add settings, languages and etc, but I seriously doubt that they will rework the mechanics to make the game more interesting. It just seems that the developers haven't noticed all the new features which were presented in the beat'em'ups since, I dunno, 2000 or smth.

The visuals are awesome but the game itself SUCKS. Don't get fooled by the trailer and the visuals. I almost feel pity for the art team. They did an amazing job while the rest of the team sat on their hands. There is not even an options menu.

Quick impression: I don't know Man... I think the game is freaking awesome \m/ :) \m/ ! Note: I come from the Arcade era, and I know the small kid version of Me would be freaking out if He saw this back in the day. I just finished the first level with the big Man Obelix since I always roll with the big dudes in brawlers like broseph's: Haggar, Goah, Max, Floyo, Major Dutch Schaefer and many others. Basically feels good Man, this is an old school Arcade brawler through and through there is no question about it this is what We played back in the day. What is pimp the game has been furnished in 2D HD art at the level of Cuphead, just not the same exact style of course but that type of quality. Other than that there is a large move set, you got your super bar, you pick up stuff, can switch between Asterix & Obelix in SP(this is cool), there are a lot of different enemies and they all look awesome and are animated really well. The background art is ACE and the rest of the game looks amazing. The game automatically saves the last level you are at so you don't have to re-play the levels. There are four difficulties, so if you are hard core there is a mode for you. The game looks insane at 4K!!!!!! To make sure the game was running at 4K I right clicked on the the EXE picked properties -> Compatibility tab -> Change high DPI settings -> check mark on : Override High DPI scaling -> drop down : Application . I do this with all My games since I have a 4K screen, it may work in 4K out of the box I never tired it just as is. This trick forces the rez that your screen is set to. I don't know what else to say, I enjoyed the little I played and would of stayed and cram quarters in it if it was a cabinet at the local Arcade(when We had them). There even is a cool storey transition between levels and at the start of the game which I enjoyed(nice touch). Also if you watched the cartoon the style and art is on point, good job! Personally I don't feel the game deserves the hate but rather praise, having said that I am a OG and come from the Arcades and C64 days so maybe I think differently as to what is expected. 100% worth getting in My opinion if you like Arcade brawlers and currently Streets of Rage 4 is My jam(10/10).

Unfortunately, the game is not good. It is mostly very repetitive and the overall gameplay feels weird and gets boring after a while. You can use special attacks pretty much at will since they are recharging so fast - so what's the point?. Enemy types repeat all the time and those that are different still feel really similar to the others and none of them really change the way you have to play against them. Higher difficulty seems to only increase the damage of opponents. Bosses are, just like regular enemies, punching bags - at least the first 2 that I encountered in my short play time - and the fights did not feel special at all. The story is a mixup of Asterix comics as far as I can tell, which is okay I guess, but the way it is told is not engaging at all. The visuals are nice, but they often feel quite lifeless, because they are only partly animated and nothing is going on in the backgrounds. The music is just meh, in my opinion. What is also unacceptable is that there are no graphics or audio options. I understand that this appears to be a port of the console version, but still.. Overall, I am very disappointed. If this is on sale for a few bucks at some point, it could be an okay buy.

Fortunately, I wasn't influenced by all the negative reviews at the beginning. As soon as I saw the first pictures, I was thrilled. This is how a game about Asterix & Obelix should be! I think the biggest mistake you can make here is comparing this game to the XXL series. I've played these games too, but I'm not exactly a huge fan of the games. Why this? Because they remind me very little of the old comics. Some of the figures look very exaggerated and I find it completely absurd that the magic potion can conjure up a tornado. The XXL series is okay as a video game, but for me it is definitely not the measure of all things. Asterix & Obelix Slap Them All! is completely based on the old comics and the old stories, the good old art style from back then is also taken up. The graphic designers really did a great job here. The music is great, the voices (at least in the German voice output) are good. The medium level of difficulty offers a certain challenge, but can be mastered. We also have everything a good story needs to have about the two gallic heroes: wild boars, pirates time and again, bandits, prison breakouts, lions and of course... Romans without end. Sure, at some point the opponents repeat themselves, but it was no different for comparable games from the past. This was criticized in some review, not really understandable for me. Elsewhere it was criticized that the game was too short. I don't think so, after ten hours I already had the feeling that the end could come, although I had a lot of fun. It's one of those games that you start all over again after the first play through to improve your score, as it was in the 1990s or before. I feel very much reminded of the days of good old Super Nintendo, as the Asterix games were sometimes very similar. On my part, there is at best one point of criticism: I would have liked to have had more mini-games. At Asterix & Obelix on the SNES, for example, you had the opportunity to take part in the rugby game in Britain. Such and similar moments are neglected here. Conclusion: I can only say that I am having fun and I am grateful for this wonderful game about the two gallic heroes. So far the most successful of all games for me next to the old SNES classic Asterix & Obelix. I would be very happy about a second part of this wonderful game with more stories from the legendary comic series.

The game is boring! I was looking forward playing this. I play a lot of old style games and I am a huge fun of side scrolling beat them up, this game is empty. The way how the enemies engage the player is exactly the same in all the levels I played so far, the AI is practically does not exist, there are basically 3 types of enemies: 1. the usual trash that come close and tries to hit 2. Big enemy that charges a punch 3. Javelin thrower thats it nothing else. There is also no much variety in enemy designs. Its all the same all way through the game! even the background is repeated in almost all the level I played so far! The old arcade game(dated 1992) was a lot more fun than this! and we are talking about a game that was made 30 years ago! For a genre old like side scrolling beat them up we would expect a little bit more considering were are now 2021 and soon 2022. Lazy game design. There many good side scrolling beat them around on steam don't waste time and money on this one! I read that it takes about 10 hours to complete this game. Really? A side scrolling beat them that takes 10 hours to complete is ridiculous, if it was at least fun :( but is not, I guess the devs added repeated levels for a total of 10 hours because the game have nothing else to offer. Zero replayability. I am trying hard to play and complete the game just because I paid £22+, I hope I can manage to get past the boredom until I finish the game! I can't believe that is a struggle for me to play a side scrolling beat them up!

I can't believe the ratings for this game. This is a really great game! And that's coming from a beat-em-up expert. I've been playing beat-em-ups since Double Dragon I for NES. I have every major beat-em-up released on Steam (that I know of, suggest them if I'm missing any important ones). People seem to be fixating on the lack of Options and deadpanning the game because of it. Would it have been nice to have the option to change resolution, controls, and audio? Yes, of course. Is it a flaw in the game that they are missing? Yes, of course. Does it ruin this otherwise excellent beat-em-up? No, of course not! This game is super fun, well-balanced, has some of the best (if not THE best) artwork I've ever seen in this type of game, and it avoids all of the most annoying pitfalls that beat-em-ups typically suffer from. Let me give you some examples. You know what this game doesn't do? This game doesn't do player stun-locks, it doesn't let you get hit from enemies off screen, it almost never gives enemies invincible frames in their attacks, it doesn't make bosses into bullet sponges, it doesn't make levels last so long you start wishing they'd just be over. The combat system is well designed, giving both playable characters their own unique feel and move set and making both equally fun to play with. My girlfriend and I were able to casually play through Act I and II and part of III on medium difficulty in just around 3 hours. One level we had to retry a couple times, and several we only scraped by with a little health, telling us that the difficulty level was extremely well balanced. We had an alarm set for an hour and a half in case we needed to return the game but when the alarm went off we were both still having a great time and agreed the game was definitely a keeper.
