If you are concerned about the fact that you know nothing about cars, before trying to play this game, DO NOT BE! A few days ago if you put an alternator, a brake system, a carb, a clutch, and a turbo on a table, and than held a gun to my head, and told me to label them correctly I probably would have died. Today however, I feel pretty confident in opening up my own auto mechanic business. The second concern I had before purchasing was that I do not own (or condone the use of) VR headsets... This was not a problem either! The controls are great in desktop and very intuitive. The odd minor issue here and there with a part going flying or not snapping in place - but whatever - not game breaking or anything like that, and most of the time caused by user error. VR is a cool option, but as a gamer who spends more than a few hours playing a game in one sitting, having a giant, sweaty, vision obscuring, piece of hardware strapped to your face is not appealing at all. Because of these concerns I decided to nab a five finga version of the game to test and see if I liked it... well I bought it after just a couple play sessions, and encourage you to do the same, and support the little guy developers (I have a game on Steam EA for sale as well!...) On to the gameplay: I approached this game as basically a complex "puzzle" game where all the pieces have logical uses and requirements. Thankfully you take it apart first before trying to put it back together again! Also the game is helpful in slowly progressing the difficulty of the jobs (you start by changing tires, and soon you are rebuilding a complete engine!) I have learned SO MUCH about cars from just a short week with the game... this is truly an educational tool as well as a game. I don't own a car, but one day I might, so even learning the basics of how to change the fluids etc. is great and feels like I'm learning a life skill for realzies! THINGS THAT COULD BE IMPROVED: (Bear in mind I am not too far into the game, so some of this may already be implemented but I have not personally unlocked it yet...) - progression feels pretty slow, I already have a car of my own, and fixed a bunch of it's problems to the point where it is drive-able, however I have not "unlocked" the ability to drive my car yet! I'm guessing I need the "race trailer" to race?... but can I not just drive my car to test how it goes (or doesn't!)? This is a needed feature earlier on in the game so that we can try our cars. -You don't get XP for fixing your own car either, so all the work I put in on it is kinda useless until I can actually use the car... I don't necessarily wanna race my beater car - but if I just bought something I wanna try it at least!! Drive to the store, anything! - I cannot start my car in my garage to hear the engine? Maybe lift it and test its hp, or buy one of those treadmill wheel thingys? It would be cool if you added the ability like my summer car to tune/time your engine and listen for hiccups, with it running/idle in the garage... - Along those same lines, maybe add an "emission test station" or whatever that would be to the garage as well so we could test the exhaust etc. (no idea maybe this is in-game... not unlocked yet...) - I saw the "test car" button thing unlocked finally, but it just pops a weak-a$$ dialogue box with stats etc... which is cool, but I think what could be a really smooth addition, would be an actual console device you can buy for your garage that hooks up maybe to your lift, or a treadmill, and reads out the stats for your car on a nifty screen. - There's no gear shift knob coming out of the transmission... what kinda racecar has an auto transmission? Also this means we need to be able to buy cosmetic gear shifter knobs... by the way (8 ball, skull, you know the usual) - The car lift is magic. I still don't understand the physics behind it. It just floats up and down in mid-air. This is totally killllling my immersion broski. SUGGESTIONS FOR NEW ADDITIONS TO THE GAME (TO DEVS): - Can I buy a paint shop? I want to paint each individual part of my car a different color. Make it happen. - Custom Decals for the exterior body panels. Idc if you have preset ones, but place-able ones would be fant-abulous. - Make unlocking stuff much faster and give us the basic ability to test, analyse, and drive right away!!! Also reward us for working on our own car, XP wise... we are already taking the monetary hit replacing parts, at least we should get XP... - Add Tire pressure and everything that goes along with it (pumps, tire caps, performance etc) :) - Add More cosmetic Rims and sizes, a wide-body kit could also be cool! - After market suspension with settable ride height. (I wanna get my low-rider on! OR my jacked up off-road Exocet lol) - Add Off-Road tires, winter tires, rally chains! haha :) - I guess that means adding winter and off-road physics and those race types to the game haha GL... - With that being said, I expect Snowrunner crossed with Gran Turismo for the quality on this btw. Anything less is failure. /s - Make a giant open world, with the graphics and detail of RDR7, where we can drive around casually and use/abuse our cars. There is space for this in the garage, next to where the deliveries come in... Thank you for working on this game, great job, and am looking forward to it's future!

I love the Car Mechanic Simulator series, but wanted something more challenging and more realistic, so this game came up. It's like the difference between Ace Combat and DCS World. The "best" part is when you get done doing a major job, look around and go "Huh, where did these washers come from...?"

Just a disclaimer I'm aiming this review towards people who aren't mechanics and want to learn about cars and how to fix them up. That was my original intention with getting this game. To start off my car has had recent issues So I got to a point where I wanted to learn how to fix mechanical problems in the car myself without the need for a mechanic who could scam me. So at first last month I stumbled upon Car Mechanic Simulator 2021. I didn't know these types of simulators existed, so I downloaded the demo and played it, and while I liked the idea of learning about all sorts of different cars and I learned a few things about parts names and maybe where they are located..But other than that, something was missing honestly. Fixing up junk cars is cool to me but i just felt it was lacking in teaching me about working on cars in real life. I guess just pointing your mouse at bolts and left clicking to screw them in engines was kind of meh after 2 hours. When I read reviews for CMS after I saw people mention Wrench. So I looked up this game and I felt iffy about it too cause it focused on race cars. While I do love cars and love especially fast ones, I was looking for a educational experience too towards normal cars, and CMS had a mod of my real car for that game. But what caught my eye about Wrench was the reviews noting how much attention to detail this game has. Like ridiculous levels of attention to detail. Plus it's built for VR too. CMS 2021 was not. So I went ahead and bought it. So I started in the tutorial and it explains the controls at different tables you approach as you progress through this tutorial hallway, and then I got to the task of taking apart a braking system, and then needing to put it back together for bonus start up money. Now again I have replaced a tire and added oil to real cars, but nothing like this. Also, while CMS also has brake systems to take apart and put back together, honestly if you're green and genuinely trying to learn, Wrench has the attention to detail at a very high level. But also I realized what was missing from CMS was the VR immersing you INTO the game. I was holding a torque Wrench. Game explained i needed to fasten the bolts back to a perfect notch, including adjusting the pressure gauge on the torque wrench.. As a guy who never held one of these ever, and looked up on YouTube what it does exactly, and WHY it's important, after that 9 min video the difference in learning between CMS and Wrench just in this tutorial to start with clicked immediately. In this moment I learned already something very important with working with bolts and nuts on a car that CMS would've just made me left click with a invisible pointer. Something that honestly can mean the difference between really fixing the car or breaking a bolt, or worse, your wheel just comes flying off.. oh and there are varying bolts and nut sizes with different torque wrenches in the game needed so you don't break them from over pressure. I also spent over 2 hours trying to take apart this brake system and put it back together since I had zero clue what I was doing. But in that time in VR I can peak around the sides and all around it and really GET into the job to try to solve the problem. When I finished and got to the career mode, I ended the game to go to sleep and I thought I saved, but I didn't...it was my fault though I was tired. So the next day I had to click on New Game again and I breezed through the tutorial. But that was only possible because I had already learned alot about a brake system the night before that I never knew about. From being able to poke my face around the thing and get real close. Being immersed and fastening the bolts (correctly this time) and studying it up close. CMS has zoom options but it's just not the same at all. Not to mention the lack of detail to things all the way down to different bolt sizes. I said that already but all of that is extremely important. Ignore the thousands of parts CMS boasts. Having your full and undivded up close virtual attention working on a car project versus floating around a car with a mouse and keyboard is no comparison. Plus you'd feel more confident when tackling a real life car problem with training from this game versus a mouse and keyboard game. So that's my serious take. I wish you can mod in or theyd have a dlc to add normal cars into the fold but they probably will. Either way it doesn't matter cause cars pretty much all contain the same needed components. So if you're genuinely trying to learn about car repairs and get as close to hands on experience that you can get without doing it on a real car first that you could mess up, this is the game to get. Granted nothing beats real life experience, but for 20 to 30 dollars for the wealth of car knowledge I already got, I'm a lot more positive now that I could at the very least replace my brake pads from virtual hands on work lol. Very well done game.

please separate the bolt inventory from regular inventory im always running out of space for bolts and then have to leave them all over the place it makes the game so much harder to finish off jobs due to having to look around for bolts that i dropped because of a full inventory

Hmmm... So it is a though one. This game used to be one of my favourite games I own before last update. (That's when I've stopped playing) But at its current state, lack of updates and specific info I have to give it thumbs down. (Last update was in April, and it made the game worst) My advice is: Wait with buying till new Update drops and then see if it is better. (Devs have posted some info on things that they are working on, looks promising but in my opinion it's not enough to pay for it now) I will review my review when that happens till then I say wait...
