Cute and colorful little shooter. It has around 12 levels divided in 4 portions with each of them having one boss. You can shoot, change weapons, launch bombs and dodge. It plays a bit like a third person on rails shooter but you can also move your character left and right and dodge attacks, It's pretty short but you can also replay the levels with different characters (who have different characteristics), it does have a bit of replay value. The arcade mode can also be played in couch coop but i've not tried this.

    Fun Gallery / Cabal Shooter!

ZPIWDX is a Cabal shooter with an up to 2 player Co op (Wish it were 4 player) arcade mode. I hope we will see updates to this or even a sequel there is good groundwork, I just want more power ups. Despite being part of a seemingly extinct genre ZPIWDX is pretty fun & is one of the good ones of it's kind available, however I do think the devs need to update the game with some fixes & some more options. I like the game but I personally want more powerups like a shotgun powerup imo. I like having a flamethrower & Gatling, but only having those 2 powerups apart from the normal smg & rocket kinda makes things a little less exciting to me; though I do like the Gatling. I just wish ammo for the power ups was a bit more common, this is especially apparent with the flamethrower which is less useful than the Gatling gun. I also wish the audio for the smg was more varied imo.

    Features / Gameplay.

The game consists of using an infinite ammo smg to gun down everything in sight, while moving left & right or using a dodge to avoid projectiles or enemies; all while occasionally picking up ammo for the grenade (which has travel time), flamethrower (which burns enemies overtime but does relatively low contact / direct damage), & minigun (which chews through almost anything). There are a total of 4 playable characters currently (some with unlockable costumes). The Story is only visible in singleplayer arcade but the whole game can essentially be played in 2 player via arcade. If the 2nd player is defeated there seems to be no option to revive them directly, they instead come back at the beginning of the next stage. If you lose in the single player story mode you can continue from the stage you lost on. If a zombie gets too close to the player it will attempt to grab them the player can cut them before this, but the player is vulnerable to ranged attacks during this time.

    Controls

The controls are as follows: {L1}: Cycle weapon Up / Left______{R1}: Cycle weapon Down / Right {L2}: Grenade________________{R2}: Fire {LStick}: Move_______________{RStick}: Aim {Select}: ???________________{Start}: Pause (In singleplayer story the game saves when you exit) {Triangle}: Reset cursor________{O}: ??? {Square}: ???________________{X}: Dodge

    Problems.

I think the single player may be a bit hard for how little ammo drops for the other weapons. Currently Player 1 & 2 share the same sensitivity meaning if one of you likes it fast & the other slow then you are going to either meet a mutual agreement or one will have to deal with it. Whenever you return to the main menu from solo arcade & visit the settings menu some options return to a lower setting namely Framerate & sensitivity for some reason, whether this actually effects anything or is merely a visual bug is beyond me, though it is just 2 options so it is hardly a bother to just change them back. Final achievement appears to be unobtainable according to others (It is supposed to be obtained by beating the game 4 times apparently). On the stage with the mushrooms the caterpillar things shoot blue projectiles that blend in with the background this was pretty difficult for me & my dad till we chopped down the mushroom background which made them a bit easier to see. If both players die in arcade and have to use a continue player 2 has to press start & reselect their character to rejoin.

    Notes

My dad thought the Tinman was funny. I wish more ammo would drop.

EDIT: An update now that I'm roughly halfway through the game, at least by achievement progress. There is no Steam Cloud, so I had to play through the first world twice, but it's not a big deal. Depending on how good or bad you are with this game (moving and dodging is your friend), you can probably beat the game in an hour or so, and with only 6 achievements (only one of which is secret), it's not too difficult to 100% achievements for this game if you care about that sort of thing. It feels easier to me with the mouse than it was with the other control schemes, though obviously YMMV. Just a VERY quick review to give you an idea of what to expect. I have previously played the game a little bit on the 3DS and tried the game on a friend's Switch, but my total playtime across all three ports is likely just over an hour, so keep that in mind. The game runs perfectly fine on the PC, which should be rather unsurprising considering it has been on the Wii, 3DS, and Switch. Don't expect much in the way of options. In terms of graphics, you get to change resolution, FPS cap, and whether it's in a window or fullscreen, and that's it. It does indeed support 4K and 144 FPS (I imagine higher is possible, but my two monitors cap out at these limits, respectively). You have some other options for sound and music volume, aim sensitivity, and aim type (normal vs simplified). As far as I can tell, there doesn't seem to be a way to change controls, with the "Test Control" option just simply showing you what the controls are and letting you test them in a gallery shooting level of sorts. I'd also like to mention here that I experienced two major bugs so far: the mouse does not work at all in fullscreen mode. It works fine in both windowed and borderless windowed mode though, so probably not a big deal. However, the second issue I noticed is that windowed mode doesn't appear to work on my multimonitor setup but works fine on a single monitor setup. I think the second issue is probably just a temporary error though. Relatively minor issues aside, this game itself is...fine I guess. It's an on-the-rail shooter with a couple of characters. You get to move side to side, but otherwise you'll be just forced to move ahead once you kill enough enemies, which you'll be doing by aiming the mouse. You can switch weapons and have grenades (at least with the first character, haven't tried the others). The game starts out pretty easy, but gets decently difficult quickly, so be prepared. Don't expect anything fancy. The graphics look sharper and runs at higher FPS than any previous version, but I imagine you can obviously see from just screenshots that this isn't going to be a graphically intensive game of any sort. It's also a fairly simple game overall, but probably decent enough for the cheap price. Only other thing I think I'd cover is which version you might want to buy. For reference, the 3DS version is, I think $8 and the Switch version is $8.99 (I may have those switched). That would make those games cheaper than the full price of the PC version, but the launch discount makes it slightly cheaper. Worth noting though that the game is also on iOS, where it costs $5 and also has a lite/demo version that you can try if you want to get a sense of the game (though with touch controls). I'm personally of the opinion that the iOS or 3DS version is probably the best version to get since they're both portable and use control schemes (touch for iOS and stylus for 3DS) that are more than good enough. Graphics may suck for 3DS, but it's not THAT bad, especially for a game like this. I wouldn't get it on the Switch though, as the Switch uses controller only inputs without any motion controls that the Switch CAN support (and what the original game on the Wii had), and controller play (which you can also do on the PC) will make it a lot slower for you to aim at all the enemies. Summary: if you want to get the PC version, it's likely the best looking in terms of graphics. It plays well enough with the mouse, and the few minor bugs are not really a huge deal. The music in the game is actually quite nice for something this cheap, and the game is a good "break" game to play for a bit here and there, as the game does have autosave. For the price it currently is, I'd say it's an ok pickup, so I'd recommend it if you just want something to play inbetween larger games.

Zombie Panic In Wonderland DX is a good Action and a good port of a Wii game, now the story. Wonderland a place of magic and wonder is now facing a big problem, a plague of zombies are ravaging the land killing all that stand in their way. But one boy will have to take up the gun and sword to save everyone. Now the likes, well the art style is really good nice and colorful, with good levels. The music was good and the action was fun as well. The enemies and bosses looked good my fav being the tinman boss, and the game’s humor was nice. Now dislikes, to start the game is a bit short you can beat it in two hours, there is arcade mode and you can play the game with a friend. But really that’s about it. Would have liked maybe three or more bosses to fight. Then we have the story don’t get me wrong the story is nice, but the text moves way too fast to me read sometimes. All so would have liked more guns you can use in the game. With that done, Zombie Panic In Wonderland DX is a good Action and a good port of a Wii game, with art style, cool looking enemies and bosses and fun action. So if you looking for a good zombie and something to play with a friend, this game could be for you. But wait till it’s on sale to buy it.

This game is for all those who like Wild Guns (SNES, 1994) or, of course, Cabal (Arcade, 1988), the gallery shooter that spawned its own subgenre, the so called Cabal shooters. Zombie Panic in Wonderland DX is one of these. A Cabal shooter gives you free control over a reticle to shoot the stuff on screen (just like a lightgun shooter when played with a controller or a mouse). However, the twist is that you do not play from a first person perspective: there is also an avatar to control and to protect from enemy fire. This is followed by another twist: in Cabal you cannot control your reticle and your character at the same time. Pressing and holding the fire button changes the mode: firing gives you free reticle control, but releasing it allows you to move your character on the x-axis. This results into a surprisingly fun and intense gameplay, while at the same time it resembles the 80's action film heroes that are just standing there when spraying bullets all over the place. Unlike Cabal, the dafault controls of Zombie Panic in Wonderland allow you to shoot and move your character at the same time, making the game way too easy. Thankfully, there's a control option called "Simplified" that gives you the limitations of Cabal (as described above) which automatically increases the difficulty and, at least I think so, the fun of the game, too. There're no online leaderboards, so you don't have to worry about a disadvantage against someone else. When Zombie Panic in Wonderland was first released in 2010 for Nintendo's Wii, it was a big success in Japan, ranking first on the list of WiiWare sales. Indeed, everything in the game oozes Japanese charme, span from the simple arcade-style gameplay and the professional anime surface up to the weird approach to Western fairy tales. Which other country could evolve such a view on Western fairy tales? Well, the game was actually developed in Spain by a small indie studio called Akaoni, which has (had?) the philosophy of creating authentic Japanese-style games. Unfortunately, the company has abandoned the Steam release and left the game behind unfinished. On December 10, 2019 they announced that a new update is coming including a new character: Red Riding Hood. It never arrived. It probably got devoured by the big bad pandemic wolf. Although this prevents you from getting a certain achievement (that was already prepared for Red Riding Hood), it should not prevent you from getting and enjoying the game. What's left behind by Akaoni, is already a very polished product. Nonetheless, let's hope that they eventually can free themself and Red Riding Hood out of the Wolf's belly. Or does anyone know a good huntsman? A list of Cabal-like gallery shooters on Steam.
