About the Game

A digital adaptation of the award-winning board game series.

Nemesis: Lockdown is a cinematic, turn-based sci-fi horror experience based on the award-winning board game. This is the thrilling tabletop Nemesis experience gone digital, along with its dark atmosphere, adrenaline-filled moments and unforgiving RNG.

A base on Mars has been put on emergency lockdown due to an alien outbreak. You’re one of the few people left inside. Your goal is to fulfill a unique objective - which will put your survival skills to the test - and survive the lockdown by hiding or escaping the facility. You’ll do that by exploring the Intruder-infested corridors of the base in search of anything that might help you stay alive. Even then, your survival is all but guaranteed and sometimes your best efforts might not be enough. In Nemesis: Lockdown, you WILL die. And you’ll have a great time regardless.

The core of Nemesis: Lockdown is its turn-based card gameplay. Each action requires you to play cards from your hand and their smart management is crucial to success. But success in the game relies not just on you and your skills. Random events, requiring you to think on your feet, happen each round, making the sessions exciting, dramatic… and even tougher.

The game is a semi cooperative experience utilizing the hidden traitor mechanic. One of the players might secretly be working on sabotaging the mission. If you want to survive, you’ll have to expose them. If that player is you… well, you’d do anything to make it out alive, wouldn’t you?

One thing’s for certain - you're going to be talking about your games long after the sessions are over.

Features:

- A thrilling single and multiplayer experience

Regardless of whether you decide to go solo or team up with other players, you're in for a unique sci-fi horror experience. Each session of the game is filled with exciting events and terrifying encounters that make it uniquely dramatic.

- Gameplay designed to keep you on your toes

In Nemesis: Lockdown you don't hunt aliens - you're doing everything to outsmart them, fulfill your objective and get the hell out. And if you do that by betraying your allies along the way... well, nobody said sacrifices wouldn't be necessary to survive.

Weapons in the game are more of a defense countermeasure than a reliable tool of alien extermination and the game's systems make sure that exploring the base is not a walk in the park. You're going to have your work cut out for you - that's for sure.

- Secret goals and hidden traitors

At the beginning of the game, you're assigned a secret objective. It may sometimes require you to deceive and mislead your teammates, or get rid of them altogether. You're going to have to tread a fine line of being a nuisance and not being exposed. So tread carefully - if they find out what you're up to, you'll be in even more trouble.

- Based on the award-winning series of board games

Nemesis is one of the most successful board games titles of recent years. It was created as a tribute to classic sci-fi horror movies. Its main goal was to create a horror experience that would evoke a cinematic story with every game. A story that you and your friends would want to talk about even long after the session's over.

Off to a good start! This is a port of the boardgame (not to mix-up with Nemesis: Distress!) The solo looks clean and the game mostly supports 32:9, which is always a plus.

Nemesis the board game in digital format. Needs a tutorial for those who aren't familiar with the rule set. But devs stated they are working on it. So get it if you understand the game already.

This game lives up to my expectations. It's a faithful reproduction of the board game. As a plus, it worked well on the Steam Deck too. It could probably benefit from some performance improvement, but it was not distracting or game-breaking. It would be nice if they added password protection to servers if people wanted to limit player access.

The game is very promising, even if it's currently EA it provides an end to end gameplay experience of the TT. My only concern is about the 3D view: it's cool in the beginning but the immersion factor wears off rather quickly and to me it gets in the way of the core experience - basically I find myself spending the vast majority of the time playing in map view, which I need to activate every single action, to have the full view of the board. I would rather have the option of having a 2D view, so I could have an experience closer to TT but with the huge benefit of the rules enforcement and quick solo/multiplayer that the digital version provides. I'm going to recommend the game though, especially at this reasonable launch price I think it's worth some support.

Pros: +The game actually feels scary! 10/10 on atmosphere right out of the gate +Despite the game being a direct port of the boardgame, it looks and feels unique in how it plays. It plays like a nice little point and click game. +Majority of actions are explained like they are in the game, and even provide a check list of conditions you have to meet to take that action; If you can't use a card, you'll know exactly why. +Animation, sound, and dialogue on point. +Plays semi intuitively for people who know the base game's rules Neutral: *There is no in-game tutorial. The tutorial that is there are three overview videos, and the rest of the videos are excerpts from Shane's (RTFM) tutorial video on the physical boardgame. An actual tutorial will be added in the future, but for now, you're gonna have to figure out how to play the digital edition on your own. The tutorial video's play head and next/previous buttons are also broken. *This is more a knock on the boardgame itself than the digital version, but playing solo in this game is incredibly boring. Most cards are useless cause they depend on other players so they're free cards for careful movement, and all you do is just move from room to room completing what you have to do and hope for the best. A campaign mode is in the works though. Cons: -The event phase is done way too fast. You will not have time to read any event cards, see which players got attacked, and unable to just generally internalize what happened during it. Rather it go through slower, or have players have to hit confirm buttons. -Clicking on an intruder causes you to melee them even if you have a gun. You have to first click on your gun, and then click on the intruder you want to attack. Should give you an option to either attack or shoot by clicking on the intruder to reduce the distance you have to travel with your mouse. -Pressing M does not display the map when choosing where to put a noise token when moving carefully. As it is now, you have to open the map manually. Overall, this digital implementation is fantastic! As a first time player of Nemesis in general, I can tell Nemesis fans are gonna love this, and all issues complained about are def gonna get patched out during their period in EA!

There are designs that works in real life board game. There are designs that works in PC game. Nemesis: Lockdown is in between. At its current state, the game is only for experienced Nemesis players. You better memorized all the event cards because you are not going to read it fast enough in this game.

This game has the potential to be great. But for now I would wait on purchasing it due to some issues that still need to be ironed out. The Issues a few friends and I ran into are as follows: - The audio sliders don't control everything so intense music and the intruders are still loud in game. - Trading is not allowed like it is in the board game you just drop items on the ground. - Tutorials need to be a bit more robust along with tool-tips and Game Objectives (I played with someone who played the board game a lot and they didn't understand how some of the objectives worked) - Disconnections and crashes occur often and if you disconnect it will auto-pass your turn if you don't re- connect in time it will auto-pass your turn which is very damaging to the player affected. (A friend disconnected while looting a box and lost the loot card along with the loot from the box and was put in the pass-turn state until the next round) - This one is a bit of a nit-pick but we burned the nest room and destroyed all the eggs inside, then about 4 turns later the queen laid an egg in the room, that was still on fire, resulting in it being destroyed the next turn (Again this is nit-picky and it may just come from a lack of understanding of the game mechanics which could be better illustrated in the form of tutorial) - You cannot set any private slots which makes playing with friends a bit more difficult - The game options menu is empty so I assume it still needs to be added in I will return to this review after full-release or after a few patches are done and update to a recommend and why I recommend it or I'll expand on why I do not.

Sadly, even as a massive fan of the original boardgame and the Lockdown sequel, the digital version falls short of the mark, even by early access standards and I cannot in good faith recommend it in its current form. * UI is a disaster. Even as someone experienced with the boardgame, trying to work out how to do anything or carry out certain actions is problem. For someone new to the game, I imagine it would be very frustrating. Aspects like the events not properly showing whats going on or displaying the result of alien attacks in any useful way and just having to guess from your damage is just straight up sloppy. * Full of bugs and not the just alien kind. Certain items just not working, Intruders spawning from corridors without noise tokens, not being able to discard Contamination cards at the end of the round without multiple attempts and that's just what I saw so far. These are not minor bugs but potentially gamebreaking. Claiming a game is in early access is not a licence to sell a potentially non-functional product. Also many minor audio and graphical bugs but that can be excused in the EA period. Being unable to play a full game without it coming off the rails can not. * No ability to save/load games. Inexcusable is the only word I have. I had DOS games from the 90's that let me save and reload multiplayer games let alone single player. This game in 2022 has neither. With how buggy it is, you would think such a feature would be a priority to give some hope of being able to actually finish a multiplayer game. All in all, I love the Nemesis franchise and I still think this digital version has potential but trying to sell it in its current form is disappointing to say the least. There are many good examples of good early access launches but this is sadly a blatant example of what not to do. This game needs at least a few months more work before I would have even considered it early access worthy. Maybe then I can recommend it but at the moment, save your money. Rushed out cash grabs should not be rewarded.

It's good but it can be better. Please give us an option to unlock the camera and move camera freely. Should add some video or pictures to explain the Event phase as supporting. Event phase is one of the most important thing in the game, it give us chaos and uncertainties. Finally, if there is a emoji interactive system can let me express my feelings when my friend dead. It must be so funny.

This game still needs lots of work, for board game players and new player especially. Things players can currently do to ruin your game: Spam kick on someone, you can F4 out of this that's all. it completely freezes the game. Hold the game hostage by looking at cards to stop there turn timer. Working with friends in open servers, this would be fine but currently there is no PM system in place so its very powerful currently. For new players the game is very closed off: First off, go to awaken realms website download the rules PDF and read it. In game tutorial gives you the bare minimum information you need to know. Events will happen, you will need to learn them or you'll suffer. you'll need to find a list of them online which i have not yet or learn them as you play! Combat will happen, watch that section until you understand it. The basic take away you need to know is, never melee unless you are forced, attacking in dark with out night vission or a torch is a massive gamble and attacking anything adult or bigger your best hope is it pulls a retreat card. It's got lots of small issues like sound sliders not working, just turn your computers main volume down to get round it and servers can randomly die. not great but it's EA for a reason.
