Mists of Aiden is a first-person story driven horror game which gives you the choice of your own nightmare.

You play as a young thief with a struggling family. Your partner convinced you to take the final job and steal a rare jewel from an old mansion. Getting inside wasn’t easy, but it will be even harder to get out. Because the house will not let you go.

There are nightmares inside. Each attempt to break free leads to a new story and a new ending. After each terrifying experience a foggy evening will return and you’ll go inside once again. The secrets of the mansion are open to those who are ready to plunge into madness. Uncover secrets of the house. Uncover secrets of your partner. Uncover your own secrets.

Each walkthrough is unique

Did you change your mind? The next time you can explore another part of the house, or even try to escape before you even step on its territory. Each attempt will lead to a new turn of your story. Every route hides its own tragedy and horror. With each new beginning, with each new nightmare, you’ll become more aware of what really happened. And maybe then the house will let you go.

The mansion is open for you to explore

The huge Victorian estate is waiting for you. It’s full of secrets and mysteries. Dozens of rooms and hundreds of details form a web of stories. Riddles, secret chambers and hidden passages guard the memory of dark tragedies: family drama, psychological traumas and otherworldly madness are intertwined under one roof. Five stories. Five nightmares.

Several genres of horror are combined into one single narrative. It reveals itself in a house that seems to be built at the crossroads of reality. I did enjoy this game, but I feel that I need to leave a cautionary review to point out that the game description on the store page is very misleading, particularly the claims that "each walkthrough is unique" and that "a huge Victorian estate is open for exploration". While I did enjoy the game I played, it was absolutely not the game I expected from the description. When the description talks about "each walkthrough", it actually means each of the 5 scripted paths through the house. They are unique from each other, but each is still a linear story, and once you pick one of those paths only the relevant rooms for that path will open, usually in a fixed order - the house is not "open for you to explore" and it's actually very linear once you've picked a path. The "riddles and puzzles" are also pretty limited - one story does have a cool puzzle mechanic that's used throughout, but the other four stories have perhaps 2 puzzles between them. If the devs update the store page to be more accurate then I would revise this to a recommend because it is a good game, but as it is currently I can see someone buying this expecting something much more open and less linear (like I did) and being really disappointed.

The game is nice however the way it is currently advertised on the store page is very misleading. The game does make you go through several walkthroughs, however they're fully scripted and rather linear on top of being somewhat short, so don't expect to be able to "explore the mansion" as mentioned in the trailer because you can only go down the path you're supposed to since everything else is locked down. As for the puzzles there really wasn't much, the second walkthrough has a rather nice and interesting mechanic to it which at some point is used in a "puzzle", just don't expect something complicated that will require time or patience. However, the game looks good and runs very smoothly while having a very nice atmosphere to it, definitely pretty creepy and even scary at times, the voice acting is very good, I just wish the trailer wasn't so misleading since the delivered experience was much different than what I expected from it and ended up disappointing me quite a bit. If it wasn't for it I'd recommend the game especially at that price since it is still enjoyable.

This game is amazing. It looks great, the story is very creative and the direction is very impressive too. The assets have g0od textures and the design was beautiful. The events on this game got to scare me a lot, A LOT and that is Great! I loved it. I was on stream and everybody got scare too, one person even got his juice spilled over the desk. The voices are also very well done, the narrator was very proffessional. Keep it up, I want to see more of this in the future.

I hate to admit it but this is the first game I've encountered that has actually left me disappointed to the point that I would fail to recommend it, which sucks because I really want to like this game more. Being that it's still in Early Access I am hopeful that some of the issues will be addressed and I can change this to a positive review in the future, so take this with a grain of salt. First of all, one of the things that had originally caught my eye about this game was the promise of a "Choose your own Nightmare" and that the game was "Open for you to explore" as stated in its description... However, that could not be more far off from what this game really is. The game is completely linear, you don't have much of a choice on where to go or when you can go there. Technically speaking there are different stories for you to discover, but I wouldn't consider them as separate unique walk-throughs, they're more like different segments of a single walk-through. Each segment is pretty straight-forward and there's not a lot you can do or choices you can make that stray from what the developers want you do do, and to make matters worse the way this game hold your hand made me feel like it was meant for children. Many times I hadn't even finished fully exploring a room (which I was forced to go into) when the item I was supposed to find was highlighted in a bright fluorescent outline. The Narrator does a very good job of telling you what to do even before you know you're supposed to do it, in fact, you could have just entered a room and he's already telling you where to go next and what to look for. And since we're on the topic of the Narrator, to even be able to hear him out you have to stand completely still, because if you move too much or pick up an item then the audio will cut out and the next audio segment will start automatically, making you miss out on some of the dialogue and forcing you go back and do it all over again just to make sure you didn't miss something important from the story. As for the story, it was decent at most but in my personal opinion it lacked more depth. Once I finished the game and reached the big reveal, which took only about 2 hours, I found myself thinking back on what I had just played through and asked myself how it all tied together, and for the life of me I just could not find an answer. Don't get me wrong, the game had its moments and there where some interesting plot twists along the way, but I just feel that as a whole they left me with more questions then answers. Now that we've gotten all of that out of the way, there are some redeeming qualities to this game as well. As a horror game it does a great job of setting up a grim mood for you to play through. The tone of the music is appropriate and graphically I don't have anything to complain about. I'll admit that this game got some great jump scares out of me and each individual story is completely different from the one before, but at the end of the day it just left me feeling like there was more that could have been done. All in all though I think the bad far outweigh the good, at least in the games current state. The price tag is not bad but there are much cheaper games out there that have given me far more hours of entertainment than what I got from House on the Hill. If you wish to experience the game for yourself by all means go ahead, it's not a bad game, but as for my recommendation I would say to wait for the final release.

House On The Hill lets you play as a down on his luck thief who’s been convinced to take one last job and steal a rare jewel from an old mansion. The mansion just so happens to not want to let you leave, as every time you try, you end up back where you started.

This is the BEST horrorgame I have played in years! I streamed it and everyone really enjoy their time with it. It has plenty jumpscares, the story is great, the graphics are AMAZING and the gameplay is a lot of fun. It feels like it's a mix of visage, fatal frame, a bit "lovecraft", some ghosts and murders, but still a great time and totally worth the money!

At first I thought that this house was slightly bigger inside than outside. Then I went down to the basement. I found the plot to be somewhat surprising. Suspense is here and it is very consistent. All in all, that was very enjoyable game. I highly recommend it.

I did not squeal... Only once.. Maybe twice... Definitely no more than 20x. Not a long game but very enjoyable. Ending could do with some work though.
