Knight vs Giant: The Broken Excalibur Funciones

Play as King Arthur in this roguelite action RPG inspired by the legend of the Knights of the Round Table. After Camelot has been destroyed by giants who brought chaos about the land and its people, the wizard Merlin – in an attempt to banish the Void Giant from the kingdom - transported its ruins and survivors to the Astral Dimension. The brave knight and his broken sword must now find a way to defeat the giants and monsters scattered around the Astral Dimension and return Camelot to its former glory.

Defeat Monster and Giants

Giant bosses await you outside Camelot. At the end of each area, you must fight one of three mighty giants equipped with devastating attacks and tons of HP. On your way to these dangerous battles, you'll encounter the mischievous monsters inhabiting the area around the kingdom. Once normal, peaceful creatures, they have turned evil as Camelot faced the giants' attack. Engage in combat with these monsters and defeat them with your broken Excalibur.

Restore the Kingdom

The kingdom of Camelot is in ruins after the catastrophic attack. Restore it to its former glory by defeating giants and bringing back many of its surviving inhabitants who have been scattered across the Astral Dimension. Restoration works will help you advance in the story and will unlock features aiding you on your adventure.

Count your Blessings

On your mission, you can choose from several power-ups by selecting one out of three blessings. Overall, there are more than 100 active and passive skills which you can receive as blessings from the legendary knights who perished in Camelot's destruction. Choose carefully, some abilities may be the most useful when equipped with a certain weapon.

Randomly Generated Maps

The beautifully hand-drawn map will randomly generate itself every time you are transported from the kingdom to its surrounding areas. This way, as you explore the Astral Dimension, no two runs will be the same and saving the world won't get boring.

Help and Recruit Survivors

On your adventure, you will encounter various NPCs who might be able to help you on your mission to save the kingdom. While some will aid you, others can be recruited and sent back to Camelot.

-Game is about 20 hours to get all 100% achievement at best which is due super slow meta progression, if it wasn't it would take even faster, -upgrading the town does almost nothing, can practically beat the game without a single upgrade, -only 3 crystals upgrades per run is insanely slow when the upgrade cost is so high, same with the amount of gold per run, at least have the mini boss drop them as well -most of the class is awful or practically the same, variety is needed here -only 1 class is needed to beat the entire game which is Bors, this class is a bit too over powered -all 10 levels of the chalice is the same thing every time, it doesn't even seem like its any harder, no variance to the bosses or difficulty -80% of the power ups isn't even worth getting, -game play is identical every run, merchant sells the same 5-6 items randomly, -not worth the 20 dollar pricing, -can play the entire game with your brain off, full crit + invulnerability shield -Just a worst version of ember knights, -Demo and actual game is practically the same thing, just play the demo, -Maybe get it after more updates, but at the current patch its not worth the money. -never left a negative review before but this is just by far the worst Rouglike I've played,

@devs great game. here are some improvements for the grind flow which get kinda annoying after couple of runs. (possible spoiler alert) QoL: - remove animation when using teleport - remove giant animations and dialogues after first encounter (before and after fight) - remove rewards screen at huntress after pressing "completed" - remove standard dialogue from pan piper and make the treasure chest interactable - remove standard dialogue from merchant and open shop directly - automatically activate fountain after giant kill if it has not been used - spawn merchant after giant kill for faster access - in town: menu with access to all unlocked features (available after credits) - screen to see all available morgana buffs and flowers - it is sometimes unclear whether a stat affects skills, attack or both (e.g. crit) - reduce time to select an option (F key) or remove the duration completely - the wind blower monsters are just annoying and interrupt the combat flow. maybe let them heal monsters instead - huntress: add more quests or slots to unlock - civilian houses lvl 2 should be 1 diamond instead of 2 (the blue resource) Balancing: - rework tarot cards: if I get too many crap cards I just go die and reroll. It gets annoying such that I never use them anymore. It would be better if a single card has a positive and a negative effect where the positive effect enhances a specific stat to allow a certain build. Or that each negative card gives increased drop chances for gold / souls. (also "reduce max hp" is too high or should be weapon dependent) - morgana: I never use it as the negative effect almost always outweighs the positive effect - the shield wall skill is too op: reduce duration to 6 sec - low hp threshold should be higher (30-40%) as it is negligible otherwise or in case of the perk "death blow" make it insta-kill at 10% max hp - there are 2 perks that give attack speed: for bors weapon the blue one give 5% and the red one 2%? - 1% insta-kill is underwhelming: additional effect could be to also deal 0.5-1% max hp dmg to giants - upgrades at graybeard are too expensive compared to how long it takes to beat the game. I got hardly any upgrades (4 perks lvl 2) and would need to grind the rest now - there is a perk that give 3% increased movement: negligible unless it is a type and should be flat 3 - active skill: poison puddle seems to be way too small - second giant is underpowered and needs a buff. i never had to dodge anything there and could just brute force. if the attack pattern is that simple / slow it should hit harder - skill orchid of malice: the same attack cannot apply poison to a monster multiple times -> change attack pattern with multiple projectiles from parallel to angled attack. otherwise there is hardly a benefit to use multiple projectiles with poison bugs or missing info issues: - it is possible get "cleave" upgrades with weapons that dont have cleave e.g. bors - tarot card 30% increased burn dmg did not affect burn (e.g. with 4 burn it still did 4 instead of 5 dmg) - higher poison stack should overwrite lower poison stack (e.g. if enemy has 30 poison dmg stack and I hit with a 50 poison dmg stack it still applies only 30 dmg) - does poison or fire stack? I feel like one should stack with low dmg and the other one should deal higher and not stack, otherwise they are the exact same mechanics new features: - unlock new tarot cards, upgrade tarot cards - unlock new flowers, upgrade flowers - unlock new morgana perks - unlock new token perks for the merchant (40 souls) - reroll / ban / lock upgrade options (maybe use the normal citizen / children) design issue: - usually to get a decent build you want to either fully upgrade the skill or the weapon. mixing both usually results in less optimal build so mixing different statues is not desirable -> there should be synergies when choosing skill and attack from separate statues (e.g. each weapon and skill has a unique modifier that is only active when choosing different statues, or there each combination of statues gives a unique effect)

The art is the best thing that this game has going for it. You start with a REALLY, REALLY, REALLY long stretch of dialogue that is trying to be funny. Then the long tutorial explaining that you can attack... and dodge... and even walk! Once you learn how to navigate a video game, the game puts you up against a giant (who is, also, the boss of level 1 always, since the bosses don't rotate). You promptly die, because that's what the game wants you to do, and now you're in Camelot AKA CamEElot, depending on which character is trying to say the word. The voice acting is about as consistent as it is often. No, seriously, sometimes you get voice acting, and sometimes you don't. Must be a roguelite feature. Huh. Anyway! After some more dialogue, you can go interact with one of two statues. One is a melee weapon, other one isn't. I only played with the melee weapon because after the trauma I experienced learning how to walk while listening to the voice acting, I just wanted to hit something (in the game, of course. 0:) And then the problems got serious. So, the enemy have tells, right. Like when they are about to attack, there is a small indicator, they have a great animation, right? Well, the problem is... is that... IT DOESN'T MOTHER #$%#% MATCH THE ACTUAL HIT/HURTBOX. You have i-frames on your dodge roll... but that doesn't matter if the animation doesn't actually line up with the result! This results in mindless mashing of the X button hoping that the enemies die before you do. The game isn't even hard. In my time with it, I got to see the final boss. Oh.. but... I'm supposed to beat it 9 more times to upgrade my kingdom? Incremental, time padding grinding for ACTUALLY no reason because the game is OVER. I didn't try the other classes. Why? I didn't unlock them. Why? I have to FINISH THE GAME an X number of times before I can. Why the hell would I play the exact same 3 levels with new, non-leveled classes? By the way, every room in every stage is the same. The only thing that changes is the scenery. I've been looking forward to this game for years, ever since the very first public demo. Unfortunately, the only good thing about it is the art.

The combat is pretty looking but the game really needs some tweaking. The number of times I've been damaged outside of the indicated circle is absurd. What's the point of large red circles if you're going to get damaged just outside of them? Upgrades are the worst you can get for this type of game: 0.1% crit increase, that's absolutely pathetic. Damage increase of 1 point, YAY SO AWESOME!! Definitely not worth the price tag, I'm refunding it.

Hades Clone (12 hours playtime, 80% unlocked) pros : +combat/movment feels very good( was important to me) +different playstyles, but mostly through different knights (check cons for this later) +you get the 1 more run greed +alot to unlock (see at cons also) + runs super smooth on sd + i dont encounter bugs or super imbalance cons: -low variance in runs (same choices for every char/ same items to buy in shop, can still feel different depends on char) -relativ easy after a few runs as you learned the paterns (maybe you can change difficulty, after reaching the super end?) -meta unlocks take time, and it take also too much time before unlocking more then two knights. For 18 bucks ok, i did have fun the 12 hours and will continue playing a few days.

It's okay? It's like a lighthearted Hades. The combat is really pretty and aesthetically pleasing to look at. Feels like additional weapons need to unlock faster, as well? Hitboxes are an issue, and there seems to be some weird action lag sometimes. Some of the VA is weird, but it does have that indie charm to it. This just made me miss Hades so I'll be refunding this till it gets more updates.

Meta progression is so weak to the point of being useless No one seems to know how to unlock other knights; for all intents and purposes there are only 2 weapons in the game. There's not a ton of choices between upgrades within a run; after one or two runs you've probably seen most or all of them. There's no variety in room types. Other than a fountain or merchant, every room is just a fight. There are no events or anything interesting. Combat would be fun if not for the weird hitboxes and what feels like lag sometimes, getting hit when you know you shouldn't have been.

Overall, fun rogue-lite that feels like hades but a little easier. The combat is fast and smooth, the boss fights feel epic & unique, and so far every build feels viable. Also, the story is cohesive and the dialogue can be funny at times. While already fun, I sincerely hope they continue to provide updates. Some things that made me sad and the creators should SERIOUSLY consider correcting: 1) After the blacksmith, the Mason should be the guaranteed next NPC unlocked, every time. The whole game is about trying out cool knight combos and yet the knights take forever to unlock? Especially considering each run takes me about 30-45 minutes, am I seriously going to have to play for 3 hrs before being able to try other knights? 2) Enemies not being effected by traps is lame 3) Need to rework blacksmith upgrade system. The blacksmith upgrades where speed and crit chance increase by .01 feels bad. Why have all these upgrades if some aren't meant to do anything? If anything, do fewer upgrades for each weapon where each one actually means something. 4) Level design could use more variety. Within a zone, each area feels the same. Could add some Pits to fall & knock enemies into, more elevation (at this point I only recall one map that actually has elevation), interactables like explosive plant bulbs/TNT kegs, e.t.c. 71 114 101 97 116 32 74 111 98 33

I've had my eye on this for a while now, So was made up I finally got to play it today. I've only gotten to world 3 so far but what I've played I've enjoyed. My criticisms so far are having to hold down F for ALL interactions, skipping dialogue, porting from rooms, upgrading weapons and building structures etc. It's nothing game breaking but gets irritating. Arthur having dialogue for the start and finish of every boss is a little irritating too. I'll also re-iterate what some reviewers are saying. The hit boxes need fixing. They're broken and misleading to the point of being obnoxious. Example: You'll be fighting a boss who will do an AOE attack. You will dive out of the big red circle with what looks like plenty of time only to get twatted with an attack. I've also noticed that the big AOE attacks will "charge up" VERY quickly again to the point of being obnoxious. I will say this though, While all of the bosses spawn adds, they only spawn 3 or 4 enemies which you can usually take care of pretty quickly. The bosses don't spam add's which is a personnel pet hate of mine. My only real gripes so far is the attack speeds of the bosses could do with a nerfing. Especially the Daemon Spitfire. He will constantly spam fire tornadoes that burn the ground and somewhat follow you, quickly followed by his big 360 breath attack which hits very hard (a third of your relatively small HP will vanish in 1 hit). Normally no big deal as you can dive/roll over the burnt ground but the hit boxes are too big and misleading and you will take damage even if you obviously dove out of the way with more than enough time to spare. So far I've only found 1 variation of challenge room (the Pide Piper) which only has 2 variations (wave defence or survive for 60 seconds) and only gives money as a reward. Again, in a roguelite/like variety is hugely important. At least mark on the map before going in to the room that its a challenge room so we have the option of skipping, because again reading the exact same text again and again and AGAIN does my nut in. Oh also, PLEASE, FOR THE LOVE OF KING ARTHUR allow us to aim with the mouse! I/we shouldn't have to aim with WASD but attack with LMR/RMB. It's a really weird design choice that I can't wrap my head around? Other than that Knights vs Giants is a pretty good roguelite. It's a little pricey but not obscenely pricey. It's not genre defining, what it does, it does well. But it needs a bit of work to get where it's trying to go. If you like roguelites give it a go.
