  I first played Kingdom Rush on Armor Games when I was a wee lad. All these years later, the games are still fantastic.

  + No pay to win or macrotransactions. Pay once and get everything. (note that the mobile version has macrotransactions) + Extremely well balanced. The developers have clearly played this over and over and fine tuned it. + The harder difficulties are a great challenge and make you think. + The artwork and presentation is beautiful. The graphics are decent. + Great value. I completed the campaign on insane in about 13 hours, but it will take me at least another 20 to complete it on impossible and complete the challenge mode and ironman mode for each map. + Nice variety of towers and heroes. + Attention to detail is great. The sound effects, the easter eggs/references to other games, the details in the battlefield are all high quality. The game just has a charm to it. - There is a LOT of micromanagement. You can't really relax and admire your towers and a lot of clicking is mandatory to complete the harder difficulties. This can be a good thing and a bad thing but it's a bit excessive for my taste. - Mouse sensitivity is weird because it messes up the scale/resolution. It makes everything else on my Macbook tiny and I can't increase mouse sensitivity within the game. If you are thinking of buying your 50th bunny suit in Fortnite, stop and instead spend it on this game. It's refreshing to buy a game and own all of it. These developers deserve your money. If you like tower defence games then it's a complete no-brainer. Just buy it and if you don't like it, refund it within 2 hours play time. But I bet that you'll be so captured by the game that you'll have played 6 hours before you even realise.

  First of all, I would like to address an unpopular opinion: This game easily defeats out BTD as the best TD game. WHOA WHOA WHOA don't start hating yet. Let me explain this to y'all in finer detail, shall I? For you all new to the Kingdom Rush franchise, this is a series of strategic tower defence game that offers a wide range of characters to choose from. As you progress through the game, you will unlock more and more different heroes and towers and the landscape changes drastically. I have played the Kingdom Rush franchise ever since I was 5, when my sister first introduced it to me. I played the original KR on my iPad and also KR Frontiers, and skipped a few. Later on I purchased the rest. Let me tell you right away: NEVER has each game been the same. (Except for most of the tower mechanics and overall gameplay that all TD games have) As soon as you open the game, you can tell that the devs at Ironhide have put their heart and soul into each and every one of the Kingdom Rush games, and KR Vengeance is no different. It is sad for me to see how little publicity this game gets, because it is easily deserving of many awards and more attention. Everyone nowadays seems to think that BTD is the top dawg, but in my heart, and many other KR fans, we know that KR is the best. Thank you Ironhide for making these stunning and strategic little treasures for us for the last 10+ years. We will always support you, and I am very excited for the future of Kingdom Rush.

  You made the right choice about buying the game on steam; all heroes and towers available after passing the required level for each one. If you have played any of the previous Kingdom Rush games then you should play this one because more Kingdom Rush is never bad and if you played KR1 you'll get some nostalgia from playing as all the enemies that ruined your defence. If this is your first KR game i'd suggest going and playing at least Frontiers first because this game is a large departure from the norm. How do i mean that? Well there are 4 tower upgrade levels and at level 4 there are 3 upgrades to add to the tower. No more split choice of advanced towers at lvl 4. Also, past a level you get access to a 5th tower choice that you can take into levels. These factors combined with the 18 unique towers to choose from means your strategy is highly customisable. You want Dark Knights, Infernal Mages, Witches, Goblin Zeppilins and Shadow Archers? Sure thing. Some LARGE quality of life upgrades to the base experience have been added like guides on which way the wave is traveling on multiple exit maps and you can sell a tower for full refund before you call the first wave. I do have some criticisms as a jaded/long time Kingdom Rusher: during the Normal difficulty campaign the waves are quite tame, with enemies spaced out and waves generous in frequency. The mini-campaigns are quite tricky however, making you really think about what strategy you deploy. The large variety of towers now also make Iron mode Challenges very easy as its no long a puzzle as to build what tower were, just build the towers they give you. I'm not sure i like being able to take towers you've unlocked back to levels before you've unlocked them. The folks at Iron Hide decided to do something different this time around and they should be applauded for the risks they took with Vengeance. Vengeance is not a bad game on its own but when compared to the rest of KR, it's definitely the easiest of the series (Mini-campaigns aside because they are always much more difficult). Kingdom Rush Vengeance is made with the same level of polish as all other Ironhide games and is definitely worth the price of admission. EDIT: Editing my review to address some of the wild criticisms i've seen in other reviews: the Ghost enemy was originally introduced in Kingom Rush Frontiers and it does require magic towers to defeat, which is good because it forces you to adapt your strategy. Kingdom Rush series is one of 2 types of tower defence games, its a bit like a puzzle, you are giving a map with set locations to build your towers. This is compared to Tower defence games were you have to build a maze for the enemies to walk through. Figuring out choke points is apart of Kingdom Rush. Vengeance does suffer from tower balance issues (i.e. a tower that spawns endless free blockers, a high health high damage single blocker and fast high damage attacks) which is a valid criticism, but it is handy to have strong towers to help you get past a map that is kicking your arse. The sheer variety of towers allows for multiple strategies, some easier to execute than others.

  The worst of the kingdom rush games is still quite good. If you haven't played any previous kingdom rush games, don't let this be your first exposure to the series, but if you liked the other ones, then this one will also be fun. Maybe wait for a sale, though.
