About the Game

A zombie outbreak wiped out civilization as we know it. Hordes of zeeks gnawed their way to the top becoming the world’s apex predator. A few years later, regular humans are an endangered species, with isolated pockets struggling to survive in this new, unwelcoming world.

Welcome to HumanitZ, a top-down, open-world survival game, where you can try to make a difference and put humanity back where it belongs, at the top of the food chain.

Will you gamble on cities and the loot there knowing hordes of zeeks might be around the corner? Or do you try to survive off the land in the country, through hunting, fishing, and farming?

  • Explore a vast, unforgiving world! From dense urban areas to untamed wilderness littered with drivable vehicles, paired with a dynamic weather system.

  • Live off the land! Pick through the ruins of the old world and scavenge resources to survive. Or take to the hills, set up a farm, hunt game, and catch fish to get through the day the safe way.

  • Survive together! Grab a rifle and start foraging on your own, or in cooperative mode for up to four players!

  • Customize robust character development! Design your chosen survivor with perks, stats, and a huge selection of firearms with other tools.

  • Craft and build for survival! Utilize an extensive crafting and building system for whatever is needed to survive, from gear to consumables. Then, build a safe house, a fortified base safe against the zeeks, or turn a burned-out house into a new place to live.

  • Defend against truly menacing zombies! Not all zeeks are slow or stupid. Adapt and improvise against numerous zeek variants, or become zombie fodder. Permanently, if you feel you’re brave enough to enable Permadeath Mode.

  • Defy death! The apocalypse claims everyone, eventually. If not through a zombie’s maw, then through hunger, exposure, treacherous terrain, or other people.

For start, it's boring, empty world, movement and reaction to hits are not good at all. Maybe later it will get better, but for this kind of game, Project zomboid is still the way.

I know, I KNOW. Its early access. It is just not ready yet. Trying real hard not to compare to Project Zombiod but this is the market they are going after. This game will take no less than a year, if the dev's move fast, to get it reasonable. It looks fantastic. Inventory system is a nightmare and needs to be done from the ground up. Building is tedious and the systems in place are a mess. The interface is clunky, which falls back on the really bad inventory system. The mod support needs to happen sooner than later so the creative juices start to flow. If Project Zomboid had these graphics then there would be no reason to buy another game of this type. Its a pretty decent base but they have a long way to go to be considered serious competition for PZ. **I support the Dev's though. I buy these games knowing this will be the state of things but I want the Dev's to be supported. Especially in this case. So if you are all about support, buy it so that the Dev's do not have to worry about keeping the lights on. If you are looking for something that works well and is a serious competitor to Project Zomboid, then this game is not ready yet. It will be someday. But not today.

It going to be a great game, i refunded after 66min due to MY inability to use the controls properly. i could not get used to how you must move the camera and the character plus combat. It was just too much for me to properly enjoy the game. Still i believe this to be a great game. Just one i can not play enjoyably. Locking the camera to the character might be a good option. for me at least.

I know, I don't have much time in this game yet, but I've played the demo (it was available before EA) several hours, watched the lead tester playing and now I am in the game itself and I am not gonna lie: I love it ! Honestly, somehow it feels like steeling this game for this price. The developers and the publisher (check out the discord, the community is amazing!) are absolutely amazing. The game feels awesome (and yes, you have to get a bit into the movement, but you get really quickly a hang of it). The graphics and sounds are amazing. I love to hear the gun and melee weapon sounds, hitting the Z's.... The whole environment looks awesome and yeah, everything feels right. Maybe you ask: Is this like Project Zomboid ? I have to say no.... PZ is more like a simulator and has it's special place in the community, but HumanitZ feels more like a isometric DayZ with a lot of action and fun gameplay. You love to explore, build and craft ? THIS GAME IS FOR YOU !!! Honestly, I would highly recommend it to my friends and yes, to my best friend too ! I can't remember the last time I was so excited for a game. It's so much fun and I am glad that I've bought this game. So, if you love games and want to support a good one and a great developer - please, go for it ! Found my personal survival GOTY ! I love it ! ===== Edit: ====== I am having a blast ! Honestly, get this game !

This game has set the framework for being potentially one of the best zombie survival games out there. All it needs to shine right now would be Mod and Dedicated server support. Tip 1: If you have a mouse with a lot of side buttons, Bind middle mouse click to a side button and turn on middle mouse click for camera in the settings. For me, feels much more natural Tip 2: Vsync doesnt seem to work atm. Enable it in nvidia control panel instead. (or amd equivalent) Tip 3: If you've played the demo, you might notice a camera zoom bug along with other things. To fix this just delete the TSSgame folder located here C: \ Users \ YourUser \ AppData \ Local WARNING: this will delete all your settings in-game and possibly your save file?

If you find Zomboid fun but hate the constant clunkyness of it and the micromanagement of all the BS like your mood and a piece of glass ending your game then this game is for you, much more fluid and a better focus on gun-play is really satisfying, its gonna be a fantastic blend between Zomboid and 7 days if it keeps getting regular updates and love. Combat + Satisfying Gameplay + Fun + Inventory system - World feels a little bland- Needs Dedicated servers-

Edit I Still Recommend however there are some things that need work, Ok so played it for a while now some things still need work but overall it is a great starting point. The UI is pretty small and I hope they add a scaling option. The inventory system is rough to work with but it is manageable for the most part I hope they add dragging items around in the future. The map is relatively small and a lot of POI's are very similar if not the same I would like to see more variety and also more loot variety as most houses have the same possible drops for residential. Adding second floors to the buildings is something I also hope they add as it gives more depth and more room for variety. The gun play feels good however the Melee system is a bit clunky and would like to see some refinement there. I would like to see options for weapon attachments and customization, possibly some stat differentials based on the quality of the weapon found both melee and ranged because at the moment if you find an AK its the same as every other AK only durability is different. The clothing and armor system could use work as its mostly cosmetic atm except for some provide cold resist or are cooler for hotter weather. Adding pockets to clothing for more storage depending on what it is would be nice. The vehicles feel very floaty at times and as fun as that can be I feel it should be tightened up a bit. I hope the Developers take to heart the reviews and comments about things people would like to see in this game as the foundation is there its just ironing out the details to give people a great game in the end. Glad to see the positive reviews at launch and hope this game continues to grow overtime. First Review - So far I like it I would recommended this. Reminds me of dead frontier and project Zomboid. Have not tried multiplayer yet but will this afternoon. things are a little rough around the edges and have had a few lag spikes, despite that having fun running around looting and learning how things work. I hope the devs keep up on this game because it could be outstanding with the right care. Will update review at a later time after I have had more time behind the drivers seat.

This game for the discounted price, and even no discount currently for their early access launch and what it currently offers in my opinion is well worth it. People are comparing to PZ ( I do not have many hours in it, but I own it) and what can scare people away from it at least me personally was there were so many little systems to manage in that game which some people love others just do not have the time and it can be not enjoyable. There are some systems in this that have to be maintained in this however it is not overwhelming. Developers have said at a later time workshop support is coming, and if people wanted to take the time I am sure they can work those PZ systems into this game. However in its current state I personally have no complaints. I've been hosting a session PvE or no friendly fire. There are some things that have been requested and the developers have been very active in discord advising they will come with time. They have been providing some excellent support for some of the current known issues. The community has been awesome in discord and so have the devs. Break down price per hour, your gonna spend more on some fast food orders now a days at least you get to keep this. There are some bugs, but let's be real look at major studios and let their games release with game breaking bugs still be an issue and some continue today. This is blowing those out of the water. I have not had any game breaking bugs that couldn't be looked past as its Early access. This game has been probably one the best Early access games that launched on steam is extremely playable.

I don't review games very often. So I want to make this very clear. If you do use the reviews to help you choose a game, disregard pretty much all the bad ones under 2 hours. They haven't given the game long enough time to play to really find out what you Can and Can't do. I mean, even at 8 hours at the time of this review, I'm still learning and finding out things. This game does not hold your hand. Even though it does have a tutorial you can play first. I've had a blast with it solo so far, and can't wait to play multiplayer with friends. --- If you've played the game for less than 2 hours, and want to leave a crappy review, either give it a go for longer, or keep your review to yourself until you actually know what you're talking about. First and foremost, the game is in a great place for being in EA. It has a great foundation to grow and improve on. There are some bugs, but that is to be expected. I'll leave my review after bombing these misconceptions from earlier short played reviews. Here are some things to clear up. - "Loot doesn't respawn!" Loot does respawn, and you have a setting for it when you create your world. - "Not enough loot!" There is also a setting for this in world creation, plus, it's a survival game. - "You can't see your friends on the map".... If you've read your skills, it is a skill you pick up. Think of it like learning tracking. There are other skills too that increase your quality of life like the increase to item stack size, etc. - "Building is expensive", once again, read your skills, there is one that reduces item requirement costs for all building items, including your workbenches. - "The controls are wonky!" You Can rebind your controls. I've rebound my Kick and Tackle to thumb buttons on my mouse. Think of Q and E as turns and A and D as strafes, or you can flip them in your keybinds settings. - "The world is empty/boring", how long did you actually explore? Because it didn't seem empty or boring to me. I think everyone tends to forget survival games have a lot of Walking Simulators in them. I've remembered times I've played other zombie survival game like Project Zomboid, Day Z, H1Z1, for examples, and there has been A LOT of open space between lootable areas. Also, it's Early Access, I'm sure they will add more Points of Interest, etc. - "Inventory sucks", I will give you that one. Inventory does need a little TLC with some QoL improvements. - I've seen people comparing the game to Project Zomboid. Saying it has more than this game. Well duh, it's been in Alpha for YEARS, YEARS! 10 years to be exact, And... it is still in Alpha. Now for my review: -Project Zomboid comparison: At this time I feel I've only scratched the surface with only 8 hours in, but I've definitely enjoyed my play time. The game does have some minor similarities with Project Zomboid, but it's NOT Project Zomboid. The isometric view, zombies, and a couple of things here and there are like Project Zomboid, but that is where it ends. The game stands out on it's own, and you will see if you actually give it a chance. -Bugs: There have been a couple of minor bugs that I've come across, but nothing game breaking. Things like, I got stuck looting a zeek corpse because their loot bag disappeared, the world setting for Season Length, and Starting Season don't work I think. I've been getting snow storms after 3 days of play in Summer and Spring starts, no matter what I start with. -Game Play: The game play loop is the same as any other survival looter. Loot, Fight, Build, Survive, and Repeat. It's no different than any other Survival Looter, and that's ok, or even fantastic, as it's something we are all familiar with and I honestly couldn't think of anything that'd make it better. It's a loop that is to be expected of this genre. Combat seems pretty fun and challenging, and feels kinda like Project Zomboid. The insta-kill tackle is an awesome. Don't use it during horde fights, but against solo zeeks, it saves you ammo and durability at the cost of 50 stamina. Looting seems on par, and if you don't feel like you get enough loot, there is a setting at the beginning of your world building that can increase loot rate. The game does have various settings you can tinker with, to fine tune the game as you'd like it. Even perma-death for the really hardcore players. Not as much micro managing like other Zombie Survival games, which is very nice. Tedious survival mechanics, like nutritional value, and various other tedious mechanics are not needed to have fun with a survival game. Although it would be nice to actually sleep through the night, or day for that matter, if you want. -Music and Sounds: The music is ok, and the ambient sounds are decent. The guns and melee weapons have a some good sound effects that make the weapons feel punchy and fun. Zeeks sound great! -UI and Inventory: This is where the game could really use some quality of life improvements. Having to Unequip things before you Equip something new in it's spot is kinda annoying. I don't know if they meant it this way for realism, but it kinda makes inventory management a pain. Same goes for picking items up off the ground. Instead of having to open inventory to drop your held item, have it replace whatever you are holding in your hand and drop the item you were holding. It would also be nice to have an option to drop items on the ground directly from the container you're looting. I really don't have a problem with the way the weapon/tool belt is set up except to maybe add at least one more Tool item slot, and another Quick item slot would make it feel a lot better, but the toolbelt is also fine the way it is. Drag and Dropping items would also be a great QoL addition. Here are things I'd like to see, or need improvements for in the game: Please make the Makeshift Axe a small tool item that can fit in backpacks and tool slots instead of a large item slot. Same for any other small Axe type items. Can you please tone down the damage to car parts? They are already hard to come by. Or at least make it to where the repair kits also repair the parts partially too? Or maybe allow us to repair car parts in a workbench or something? Armor is shredded way too quick. I didn't see anything for Armor Repair, but you do have Melee, Vehicle, and Gun repair kits. I could be wrong as I'm only 8 hours in. Armor repair would be nice too. We may have a favorite item of clothing we want to keep hold of, and in working condition. Can Bows be repaired with Duct Tape instead of Gun Repair Kits please? Please increase the amount of storage in lootable containers in the houses. A cabinet should have more than 5 slots. Same for a fridge. The weapon slots are fine on the containers, but more initial storage slots would be nice. The slots don't have to be full of generated loot, but If used as a base, be it temporary or not, more initial storage around the house would be nice. Some items like storage chests can not be placed inside houses. Being able to destroy the furniture for parts would be nice too. Then allow us to fortify (which you already allow this), clean up, and build new things in the houses. Sliders during world creation for Hunger and Thirst settings. As of right now you burn through Food and Drink pretty quickly. Because of this, it does impact your inventory space a little because of all the extra food and drink you need to carry with you. I don't think the respawn point item is working. It says it stops spawns in the vicinity, but it doesn't. I'll get back to my base and next thing I know I have a horde rushing me and my base. I could understand if it's some random horde, but every time I go out looting and come back they spawn. I've noticed horde spawns moments after I light the fireplace at my base too. All in all, a decent little Zombie Survival game. I'd say 8/10 for where it's at in Early Access.
