  Doesnt upgrade and FG will just tell you to contact steam and steam will say the same. LItteretly shows up in your accounts but no one will help you fix the issue. SCAM COMPANY steals your money

  For all the people with negative reviews because the upgrade does not work, I was able to do the following workaround: You are correct that it does not automatically upgrade, but I have a workaround for you. 1. Click the FGU desktop icon as if you are going to install (Do NOT install if you have already done so.) 2. Copy Ultimate license to clipboard 3. Close FGU and go to the install folder. 4. Click and run FGU upgrade. 5. Enter the license and your account info. 6. Click upgrade (it may close - if it does run the upgrade from the install folder again. Click on upgrade again and it should work fine this second time through. 7. The desktop FGU icon should now correctly link to the FGU app and run properly! Not sure why Steam could not get this right, but the above manual workaround solved the problem for me. Good luck!

  OK, I was running on STD licensing the whole time like others. To fix the "roundabout but never upgrades properly path" I did the following. Uninstalled FGU. Re-installed FGU. Ran through Settings and logged into FG Forum account when it asks for logins. When it asks for a key, DO NOT enter first key called "Fantasy Grounds Unity" like you'd think to...that is a Standard-only licence and if you merely copy and paste the key into the app. it will tell you this before hitting Next in the app. Instead, choose the second Item key called FG - FGU Ultimate Licence Upgrade. Yes, choose this one even though you would think you'd need to install the previous one first. That's it, you've installed and are now using the Ultimate license you bought from Steam vs being stuck in STD to ULT licensing hell.

  This is a gift to my VTT mates! I swear! Simple way to activate your FGU Ultimate license without re-installing, removing anything etc. Step 1 - Purchase FGU Ultimate License Upgrade Step 2 - Go to steam library, right click on Fantasy Ground Unity > Manage > CD Keys Step 3 - One of the CD Keys will clearly state that it is a Ultimate license CD key, copy that one Step 4 - Start FGU, go to settings, paste your new CD Key into License Key field, click save Step 5 - click Update, after it finishes updating click "Launch Fantasy Grounds" Step 6 - after FGU starts, look at FG logo, then to the right Does it say ULTIMATE after game version? No? You can't follow 6 simple steps. Try again.

  Its got some oddities in its functionality and I kind of wish it was easier to add abilities that already exist as a button without having to code the thing from scratch but as a VTT I think it stands strong. I think the LOS editor could use some more work, personally I find it feels kind of clunky and takes a long time to set things up. Just doing one map can take an hour or more. Maybe have some hotkeys to swap between keys? (and have them show up on tooltips when mousing over things.) I also wish the chatbox had a button to activate rather than just immediately taking all keyboard inputs when nothing else is selected, the hotbar at the bottom cant be used without clicking afaik otherwise. I can only hope that with time it covers in the gaps and keeps growing to be more userfriendly and effective as an TTRPG tool.

  + one time purchase, no need for subscription + you don't have to self-host (ngrok method for Foundry) + you don't have to pay third parties to host your game (i.e Forge VTT for Foundry) + Fantasy grounds has great automation

  FG is wonky at first but once you learn the UI it is quite an expansive offering and a stable application.
