  Any fan of dungeon crawlers should check this game out. An interesting narrative with a good amount of humour thrown in without being cheesy. The battle system is mildly rewarding with visuals harkening back to oldschool '90's computer generated art. Comparable to: LSD Dream Emulator

  This game is a genuine delight. By far it's one of the most atmospheric games I've played in my life, going for a tone which I can only really compare to Yume Nikki and the last dungeon of Shin Megami Tensei III: Nocturne, if those are up your alley. You play as a character identified only as "Golem" (some dialogue insinuates that this may not be their real name, though it's what's displayed on all of the menus) who feels compelled to climb a monolithic tower for reasons they struggle to properly explain. There's a great deal of elliptical lore and quite a lot of Buddhist symbolism, but even for those not willing to make the effort to read into what any of it's serving, the game delivers on a remarkably well-realized general feeling which should come across even if you don't think you'll pick up on the subtext. The labyrinthine dungeons to crawl, music which ranges stylistically from The Caretaker to Aphex Twin, these shockingly moving little interludes between each dungeon floor, the oversimplified battles, the terminally online dialogue, it's certainly a game which makes you feel some potent emotions. It does have a special sort of command over this, where over the course of its five-hour runtime I distinctly felt a slow burn of dissociation and dread. It's a bit of a psychologically challenging game in lieu of mechanical difficulty, I guess. It's a game which is very distinctly itself, y'know? If anything I said interested you, rest assured that this game commits to it as hard as possible. At $3 I simply must advise you to pick it up, given that.

  I don't like the combat, but something about this game compels me to explore it just as something compels Golem, the game's character, to climb the tower. Disillusion also gives me some Ena vibes but in a melancholy way.
