Frustratingly slow movement, excessive crafting item requirements leading to grind, and aiming the arrows feels terrible (and the other throwable items feel utterly useless) Even without a hud indicating where the arrow goes, I feel like the aiming could be made a lot easier, more intuitive, it feels like everything goes against you, not in a challenging way, but in an absurd undecipherable way, the few arrow hits I got to land on anything other than a snake felt like utter luck. Cool concept, terrible execution.

I really would like to give this game a thumbs up. But it is a "meh". The main reason is the shooting and throwing spear. There is no real possibility to aim. It doesn't have to have an crosshair, but somehow you need to be able to estimate distance flight direction and so on. And I really doesn't work for me.

Sokpop is a talented group but the charm of these games really falls off after playing one or two. They always leave you wanting more, but after a while you realize that half the time you spent on these games is just learning what the controls are (because they never tell you). I wish they'd actually flesh out an idea instead of just rebranding/remapping a clunkly, underwhelming combat system

Great little game. Not sure if i should give some pointers to spoil things, but try to survive logically is all i can say. It seems easy in principle but isn't, be wary of snakes. There is crafting resources you can find on corpses from other players who have died (but you wont see any players alive). Shooting the bow is a difficult to master and i expect the more i play the better i get at it. I hope the devs may consider a Deer Hunter 3, add some more crafting options and some adjacent biomes to hunt in eg. snow which perhaps you have to prepare for before you can handle the cold. Anyway hearty recommend this game, now i have some more wandering to do...

Honestly, this game is pretty decent for what seems like the product of a couple days of work. Aesthetically, the game is cute and pretty fun to play and figure out. I really appreciate not having my hand held while playing. Although, the one thing that could use a change, is the aiming. It's genuinely very difficult to even replicate the same shot twice. So perhaps an aiming reticle, let us look down the sight of the arrow shaft. Ending Spoiler:
Otherwise, I kind of liked not being told what to do at the end. It took me about ten minutes to figure out what to do with the orb and kind of got the idea to shoot it because of the boss fight.
Honestly I would pay to play a longer and larger version of this game, like BoTW, but with this system. Just a vast world with maybe 5 biome regions to explore and collect the orbs from, and I would be a happy explorer.
Solid distillation of survival mechanics in an uncommon setting. Time-consuming endgame makes lack of saves a sore point.
If Goblet Cave was the cave-exploration aspect of Minecraft given its own game, Deer Hunter II is the survival aspect. The variables all make sense (though the beginning is a little harsh), there's a good variety of things to experience, and the sense of progression is satisfying. That said, given how time-consuming the ending is, the lack of save-game functionality is really irritating - especially given how Sleep serves little purpose, other than placing the game in an idle state. Still, this is a well-done game and I feel it's worth the price. Recommended. If you want to minimize your time spent trying to get over the final hurdle, here are my SPOILER tips:
Don't fight the final boss until you have a full quiver of arrows PLUS 8 sticks and 8 feathers in your inventory. Watch the colored circle inside the glass - every time you score a hit, it should shrink. Take cover behind boulders and craft more arrows when your quiver is empty. Hit the boss with as many arrows as you can, as quickly as you can - its health regenerates over time. Once the boss it defeated, take the orb to one of the platforms directly in front of a pyramid. Shoot it after it expands.
It's fine. Like, it's fine! You wander around (slowly) trying to avoid big skeleton archers that can kill you in three direct hits and also snakes, probably. I wish there was a crosshair or something because trying to kill a snake with a rock is Terrible. Anyways. I imagine its much more fun with friends, but solo it's a little sad. (just like me, refunding this game)
