the art style on the 12 girls (2 in 1 level) are only passable but i'ed play these even if there was no nudity. i just enjoy these and gal panic type games. they are easy enough and just let you relax. i also love how the devs keep people with hand disabilities in mind with the one handed mode. for the low price it's well worth it for a fun little shump.

So the total babe (Xorph), who I happen to be in a relationship with, wrote this review: DSW World lacks any of the extra themes or gimmicks that have helped other entries in the series stand out, but it still offers an enjoyable new set of levels & boobies, and the gameplay has had a nice return to form after Nekomimi's awkward design changes. Feel free to scroll to the second-to-last paragraph if all you care about is "is the art good".
The Gameplay
Gameplay remains mostly the same as the past four games. In-game controls handle just as well as before, and the world map seems to have finally smoothed out the jankiness that was present in the maps for Fantasy and Neko. The skill system repeats the pre-set loadouts of Neko, but you can access the 4th loadout and its unique sword powerup from the get-go, giving you some extra variety to mess with on your first playthrough (which for all but cheevo hunters will generally be your only run). There's once again two new specials to mess with, one of which is just the staple "like the regular bomb but with the current title's theme", but the other is a really fun double-ship mode. It burns special over time instead of dropping a full meter at once, can be toggled on/off on a whim, and your hitbox still only applies to your main ship, giving you a neat new way to boost your firepower during tough spots. It still kinda sucks that the devs swap out bombs rather than adding to the list with each title, but it's at least nice that they keep coming up with cool ideas every time.
The Enemy Design
Enemies have returned to the less cartoony robot designs of the pre-Neko games, but otherwise stick to the same 6 or so enemy types we've had across the whole series. There's a few new mini-bosses, and they return to presenting a nice little bit of extra challenge, which I found far more enjoyable than the pushovers present in Neko. Main bosses likewise ditch being weird cartoon spheres in favor of just being giant mechas again. The clip-art pickle is still here, but he's now a cyborg and has a moveset that's actually fun to fight, so I'm giving him a pass this time around. A few other bosses likewise call back to previous titles but with revamped attacks, and there's plenty of brand-new bosses as well, giving you a level of challenge and variety close to what Fantasy had.
The Balance
Challenge level for both the regular enemy waves and boss bullet patterns is a big step up from the super-casual tone of Nekomimi. It's not as tough as Fantasy was, but I'd honestly say that's a good thing, as this time around it strikes a far better compromise between keeping the tidder easy to unlock while still being a bit engaging for people skilled at Shmups.
The Story
It's still just a bunch of innuendo and silly jokes, and still makes for some nice breaks to have a quick chuckle between levels.
The Presentation
Combat graphics are still fine, being basically the same as the past two games in terms of quality. The main menu theme is super-catchy, though the in-game stuff is just a tad repetitive this time around due to a slightly lower track count (they also pad it out with "here's the same song at 2x speed" just a tad), and the fact that I'm pretty sure at least one of the tracks was re-used from the previous game.
The Boopis
In an odd twist, the art quality this time around has simultaneously jumped and dropped compared to the last couple of games. Quality of faces and boobs are both at all-time highs for the series, but if you're like me and enabled the vagoogers then you'll probably be disappointed. They don't reach the outright "this just looks like the girl's ass crack continued until it reached the front"-tier of badness that a couple of girls in previous titles had, but half the time it looks like the artist just drew the girl with barbie doll anatomy, then added a single black line to the crotch to try to trick you into thinking there's a puss present. Even when they don't do this, the higher-quality snatches just don't reach anywhere near the same level of nice-looking as the best stuff from the past two games. It doesn't help that the theme of this game is far less anime than the last three titles, ditching the exotic monster girls, cat ears, and DFCs for just changes in skin tones and cultural outfits (the latter of which you'll be nuking with laser blasts anyway). Likewise, the wonderful Milk Mode from Nekomimi is gone, which really seems like a baffling thing to cut considering how much everyone loved it, whether or not it "fits" as much due to the lack of catgirls notwithstanding.
In Closing
The art may not be the best the series has seen, but it's still enjoyable, and the gameplay is way more fun than the previous title. If you're new to the series, play Fantasy or Nekomimi instead to get a better first impression, but if you're a longtime fan then despite its flaws, DSW World is still a worthwhile addition to the "Shameful" section of your library. 8/10 Follow my Curator to be kept up on all my reviews, including stuff I ghost-write through Family Share! I remember reviewing the first game quite some time ago and given it was their first game, I gave it a favorable review all things considered. Now, after releasing five games you'd expect the devs would have further polished their work. Nah, this game is just like the first one in pretty much everything. Recycled assets, sounds, patterns and the most dull soundtrack (as opposed by the previous games) makes me unable to recommend this game. The artwork at least has gotten way better than before, but that's about it. It's not a BAD game. It just feels half assed, rushed and uninspired. It's no use releasing game after game if it's all the same. What's this, Ubisoft now?
