It's fun to go through this game again but I don't recommend it at the current prices. You should wait for a good sale on these older CODs, especially since the community is mostly dead for multiplayer. If you are planning on 100%ing this game like I did, you need DLC 1, 2, and 3 for the special ops missions.

Don't know if people will see this review. But if you do let me give you a tip about the multiplayer. only reason i recommend this game is because of a software called plutonium. just search up in google plutonium mw3 and you should be able to find it. it has dedicated servers, people is actually playing it, and no cheaters or hackers whatever you wanna call them. also some of the servers are modded offering a different experience. So if you saw this review hopefully this helps. Also the software works with mw3, waw, and bo2. Have Fun.

The game itself is amazing and is a top tier Call of Duty game. However, I cannot recommend buying it because for some reason, it's still $40 in 2022, Eleven years after the game launched, and that's not even including the DLC which will run you another $50 or so. If you can get the game + its DLC on sale for a decent price, then I'd recommend, but OMG Activision, LOWER THE DAMN PRICE

*DO NOT OPEN ANY COD PRIOR TO IW* They took away Xlabs, Sm2, and soon will take away Plutonium which are all the ONLY safe way to play these older CoDs. Opening any CoD prior to IW will result in a chance for people to gain access to your pc. 2 security breaches are known: CVE-2018-20817 (SV_SteamAuthClient in various Activision Infinity Ward Call of Duty games before 2015-08-11 is missing a size check when reading authBlob data into a buffer, which allows one to execute code on the remote target machine when sending a steam authentication request. This affects Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3, Call of Duty: Ghosts, Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare, Call of Duty: Black Ops 1, and Call of Duty: Black Ops 2.) CVE-2018-10718 (Stack-based buffer overflow in Activision Infinity Ward Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2 before 2018-04-26 allows remote attackers to execute arbitrary code via crafted packets) These are some things they can do even if you just boot up the game and get to the menu: Hidden Remote System Access System Information File Manager Hidden Desktop Usage Monitor on/off Hidden Browser Usage Open/close CD Hidden Chrome Usage Show/Hide taskbar Start Up Manager Hidden Firefox Usage Show/Hide Start Button Task Manager Hidden Edge Usage Show/Hide Explorer Remote Shell Usage Show/Hide Clock TCP Connection Show/Hide Tray Reverse Proxy Show/Hide Mouse Registry Editor Hidden Explorer Enable/Disable TaskMgr UAC Exploit Enable/Disable Regedit Disable WD Disable UAC Format All Drives DDOS attack Audio recording Webcam recording Device information Process hollowing Credential stealing Discord token stealing Report every older CoD as harmful and put those 2 CVE's under the description why. Write negative reviews to warn others not to spend any money on these CoDs (which are mostly overpriced for how old they are as it is) We need to take these CoDs from "Positive" or "Mostly Positive" to mixed or mostly negative

Downloaded to play the game once I loved, and.... what was once a great multiplayer, and I played it a lot back at the time, now is full of damned cheaters who ruin every single play. I can't even understand: what's the reason for cheaters to play that quite unpopular not-mainstream multiplayer game which is played by only a small community of people who like it? I mean you don't need any skill to do that, you are only ruining game for those people who played it back then and who love it. For all the dissapointed gamers: Think about it, if you are a normal human being, there is no reason for you to ruin multiplayer experience for all players in quite unpopular game if you are mentally ok and everything is great in you life. I think it's some kind of self-affirmation for them. So go on, and don't worry much about things you can't change. For those who cheat and continue to ruin that good game: fuck you, and I wish your life problems to aggravate further, until you stop doing this.

I still remember when I saw the trailer for this game while I was having dinner at Hooters with my family, back in 2011. It was actually then that I told my parents that if they wanted to give me something for my birthday, which was coming up in two weeks or so, that game would be it. I was absolutely mesmerized at the time—as I am still now–so you couldn’t convince me to want a unicorn, a million dollars, or anything else that wasn’t this game. As a kid, I was used to playing videogames on ps2, Gamecube, N64, all kinds of handhelds, etc., so when my birthday came up and my parents had actually gifted me my very first "modern" console, being the Xbox360, you can imagine how excited I was. To top it off, this very game was taped right on my new Xbox; I can literally still smell the fresh plastic that was wrapping the game. This game marked a huge stepping point in my gaming timeline; a step I would remember and cherish for the years to come. MW3 was the first CoD that I owned that had an active multiplayer, because as much as I played on the predecessors of Xbox360 and ps3, the servers on these older consoles weren't exactly appealing or simple to use—and therefore, enjoy. Back then also MW2 was the main vibe and every one of my friends were playing it, but my parents refused to let me have a console because they had the old-school mentality that videogames were bad for you and whatnot. So again, my birthday came up, and what had been an allusion for many years became a reality—I was finally able to be part of the cool kids! When my best friend found out I got an Xbox 360 with this game, he was as excited as I was because he claimed he didn't have anyone to play with before and now he would. At the time, I was overwhelmingly happy to get a console, plus I was used to playing by myself, so I didn't really think much of this. We played every. single. day. – literally. As soon as we got out of school, he or I would text the other and we would get online and play. We sorta became CoD freaks. Sometimes I would go to his house and we would split-screen a few rounds of Zombies. He was really good; like, he was the kind of kid to achieve prestige within freaking hours of getting the game. It is needless to state that he was always carrying me… I was already in love with the CoD franchise because I really enjoyed playing war games, so when I was able to enter the multiplayer world, with my best friend, it was mind-blowing, to say the least. I continued playing with him all throughout high school, up until we graduated in 2014 and we each went to our respective colleges. As college students, we didn’t play as frequently–for obvious reasons–but we would still play at least once a week, if we were able to. I stayed home for college, but he went out-of-state, so gaming became even more meaningful for us because we were not seeing each other physically anymore. My best friend had a heart condition, and in 2017, he had to undergo surgery; it was something he had to do every few months, so he was practically used to it. The surgery went well, and after it was done, it was procedural to just wait for him to wake up from the anesthesia. The morning following the surgery, at precisely 5:08am, I was woken up by a text from my best friend’s sister letting me know he had passed away. I remember I didn’t reply, and I simply got out of bed to go to work. I was completely and utterly numb, feeling nothing, absolutely nothing. I remember I didn’t cry at all that day; not a single tear. I carried on with my day, as if nothing had happened. It didn’t hit me until I had to tell my parents, who were out of town at the time. I called them the following morning, and I told them. As soon as I said, "He's gone, mom," I could hear my dad rapidly pulling over, and I could sense my mom was starting to cry. She was stunned, literally, too stunned to speak. And all that follows you can already imagine. When I was walking away from that stage after getting my high school diploma, I never expected I would have to say goodbye to my best friend forever just three years after. Months before, we had literally just celebrated that he turned 21 and we were joking as we were envisioning what else awaited our futures–if only we had known. I stopped playing MW3 after that, and pretty much all of the CoD multiplayers. Not because I was undergoing a sort of denial, but rather because life kept going on and my gaming interests had to be placed aside a little–I was, after all, still a college student. And yes, as I had foreseen, life carried on. I sold most of my consoles as time went by because I got tired of carrying them everywhere and all. The Xbox360 servers eventually shut down, and I got rid of all my games, but my console is still with me, although it honestly just serves as a memento. Eventually I entered the world of pc gaming, and all consoles were pretty much obsolete for me. As I finished college, I started playing the more mainstream games, such as Fortnite, Rocket League, and of course, CoD. I never quite got around to appreciating Warzone because of many things I won’t describe here, but I know he would’ve loved it, and I know that just as he was alongside me with MW3, we would have been ceaselessly making people rage in Warzone—or at least he would’ve. Maybe that’s why I’m indifferent towards the game, and for that bias, I apologize. What I won’t apologize for is writing this “review.” What do you want me to say? I have already stated how amazing this game is without having to address it in the remotest of chances. This game gave me countless of memories alongside my best friend, and while I may never again find another person to share these kinds of memories the same way I did with him, my gratitude remains with CoD for giving us so, so, SO much. This game was, and is, perfect. I don’t care what gamers say about MW2 being the best one, in my eyes they’re wrong–this is it, this is the best CoD has given us. So thank you for “Infected,” for allowing us to get back at Makarov, and for adding the Terminal map as we expected back when it was still cool. Again, there are no additions, no corrections, no changes I would make. This was it, Activision–this was your peak. Thank you. I realized two days ago that CoD games were on Steam, and to make it even better, they were discounted; so, naturally, I obliged, bought them all, and started making my way through this campaign first. And just as I was thrilled back then, I am still now, despite of the fact that a huge piece of my initial experience is missing. So if you’re thinking of buying this game, stop–just do it already. I can’t assure it will give you as much as it has given me, but I have a feeling you’re going to love it perhaps as much as I do. Least you can do is try. This is dedicated to all those players that have gone ‘offline’ forever. Your status will always remain ‘online’ in our hearts. In memory of my best friend—rest in peace, Dante.
