  Not super far in yet, but so far it's a nice little TD (and I've played them all since good ol' wc3 times!). It borrows more than a little from Kingdom Rush and similar TD's, but KR has been something of the gold standard of tower defenses for years and years, and at least this is not some shitty no effort clone, so it's fine I guess? But still, It just begs to be compared to KR... Ancient Islands has: <*> resource gathering by building woodcutters and stone quarries and upgrading gold generating buildings <*> annoying royalty free music which you've heard many times before <*> a serious lack of heroes (for good and worse) <*> a lower price tag. (At least if you compare to newer KR installations, and they are all pretty much the same so I think it's fair) <*> a pretty clunky UI, especially out of game, (not that KR's UI for PC is anything special)). <*> But most notably, Ancient Islands is leagues behind in graphical design and polish. I haven't seen any big problems other than maybe how annoying it is to place buildings in limited space when there is no snapping to map edges or other buildings. (Should really be fixed with how bad it is.) I did mention a missing vsync/fps-limit options when my game ran at 3k fps, and it was added in a hotfix just some day later, so the devs seems to be responsive and care enough about the game to actually fix stuff. Big props! Ancient Islands is not on KR's level, but the gameplay holds up, and I've had a really good time so far. If you like to play all the TD's, you'll likely not get disappointed. Seems to be well worth it's price tag.

  Even if I'm not into tower defense/rts games I enjoyed playing Ancient Islands.

  Completing all avaliable missions (14 at the moment of writing the review) at hard level took me approximately 8 hours. A lot of missions required adjusting the skill tree before start, because there is a need to use different tactics based on enemy types/available resources. At the beginning game seems to be a little bit difficult, but the more skill points you have, the less demanding it becomes. Last missions are not challenging at all when you collected all available skill points, so focusing on the initial levels is essential in order to succeed in the final part. The biggest disadvantage of the game is the number of missions, which is to low to show the full potential of Ancient Islands ;) I hope that we will see some more maps, where we can use all of the various mechanisms provided by the game.

  I had pleasure to play few hours in offline mode during my airplane flights lately :) I like the idea of tower defense in general so this game is fantastic! If you played some TD game before you will love it. It take some time to figure out what is important on every single level (finished 6 of them so far). It's interesting idea about resources and whole economics added to simple TD game. I'm sure will be playing it more in future. Good Job!

  Pretty good tower defense game. If you like tower defense games, your should buy it. Needs more scenarios but hopefully the developers will have updates or add ons in the future.

  It's a decent TD game with a few resource management/city builder type elements. It's a little too short; finished in 6.4hrs. Feels like the developer had more planned but decided to just release as is. Came to this conclusion due to the fact I finished the last mission, yet most of the upgrade trees have yet to be completed, like less than half. All there is now is to go back and complete the missions perfectly, which I expect to be too easy with the upgrades.

  honestly mixed feelings just because it feels like a rushed release where more adding content and bug fixing / polishing was planned. what you get is a decent TD with some original ideas, but it's rather short and could do with a bit more development time.
