  For everyone waiting on the steam update, all steam game updates work on a scedual at the same time each day. On other platforms an update would happen the second it was available, however that isn't the case for steam so you will all need to wait 2 extra hours after the initial launch. This has nothing to do with the developers of the game, so please support the game when the update is out and wait patiently before leaving any negative reviews.

  For lovers of the game. In Sonic 3, we say that Knuckles is essentially the Hard mode of the game. In Sonic Mania's case, that would be Encore Mode, It's more than just a recolouring of the backgrounds, some of the layouts for the stages has been changed, enviromental challenges and enemy placements have been mixed up making things more noticably difficult and Special stage rings have been relocated. Speaking of Special Stages, they've also been given new layouts and in my opinion are already noticably harder, Special stage 2 especially threw me for a bit of a loop. My favorite thing about Encore mode is the abillity to switch with your partner character on the fly, something that is likely inspired by the Sonic the Hedgehog 2 Heroes hack, maybe you're like me, you boot up Sonic Mania (or Sonic 3) and ask yourself "Do I want to play as Sonic or Knuckles this time?" Well, Encore mode lets you do both! With the press of a button, you can swap leading roles between your characters at (almost) any given time, that's if you can keep them both around that is. When a character loses a life, they need to be re-earned, this can be done by playing a new bonus stage reminiscent of the Knuckles Chaotix character selection mechanic, this is a very good way to keep the new bonus stage relevant and allow for players to take notices of the star posts, you could keep going, but you are missing Mighty from your party, you could hop in quickly and go and get him back! Mighty and Ray are nice additions to the game, although I'm finding Ray a bit hard to get the hang of...No pun intended, but I recommend this definately, a nice little update for a very cheap price. Spoiler [spoiler]Stardust Speedway Act 2 was awesome.[/spoiler]

  This DLC is really really amazing, and I liked these two characters Mighty and Ray. Also, the music of Angel Island Zone on the first in Encore Mode is pretty catchy.

  While the two new characters are a worthwhile addition, the remixed stages don't really take advantage of their new abilities. Most of the stages have a ceiling so Ray's flight isn't as useful as it could be and Mighty's hammerdrop is broderline useless unless the stage has alternate paths. Th=ose pathways are few and far between so encore mode really fails to take advantage of these new gimmicks, and since the basic mode lacks these pathways Mighty and Ray become near useless. Personally Mania was a one and done experience for me and unfortunately this DLC does not change the gameplay or stages enough to warrant another play though. If someone enjoys Mania and only wanted to play more Mania this DLC is well worth the five dollars, but for someone who wanted Encore Mode to be truly unique from the base game Encore Mode comes off a little flat and underwhelming.

  [h1] Decent DLC [/h1] I enjoyed the Plus DLC but it did't really blow me away with the new features, It did leave alot to be desired. it's Still worth it the buy as it offers quite a bit of content for $5. [b] The Pros [/b] Mighty and Ray were added, two characters that the commuity wanted, they both play well and stand out well from sonic. The Addition of Encore mode gives me another option to play vs. the vanilla Mania mode. Added Extra transiton scenes on how characters got to the next zone/act. 4-player Vs. is pretty fun. ( if you have friends who visit your house) [b] The Cons [/b] The later Stages of Encore Mode don't really take advantage of mighty or Ray abilties. While Encore mode was ment for more Veteran Players the Lives system can be cheap by respawning your character right in the danger, causing you to lose 2 or more on one mistake.
