I don't think ive Witnessed a more shittier Early Access for a game in this genre in my life, The game is absalutly horrid right now, Terrible lag whilst Firing & Melee, Graphics doesnt really matter in games but this honestly looks like a mid 2000s Source game and Barely any players in Public Servers...However, there is lots of potential in this game especially accounting for the shear size of the NW/Holdfast Community. I really hope the developers don't get discouraged by current views on the game and keep at it into making it a magnificant & Regiment orientated game

I think they might have rushed the release just a little. As it looks now there are bugs that should have been seen in an alpha test long ago. The concept is good and optimisation is really well. i've always had 60+ fps so far. Hitboxes are still a bit weird with melee but i think the melee system has potential. Switching from melee to shooting mode is also a little weird and can take a while. For now i'd say don't buy it yet because there are alot of glitches and bugs that were very unnecessary. But yes it has potential.

It was a fun game when it first came out but the development staff just lost interest in continuing the game and it just died

[Edit was me typing "A" and the pasting the rest of the review since it wouldn't load the full review] A few other reviews point out flaws to do with the developers and although valid arguments and really important issues, this review is about the game and the game alone. I was banned from the discord and the beta but was able to get in using an alt steam and discord. I am not holding some "grudge" against this game or the developers and don't want the game to fail to spite the developers since they banned me from a discord and beta I got banned from but easily got access too. I went into this game with a clear mind (despite being banned by the developer from the discord and banned from the beta but sneakily got back in) I knew that it was early access and played in the beta and had a rough idea of what it would be like. I believed that there would have been enough progress to justify an early access release... Boy was I wrong! Bugs in my 1.1 Hours of playing that I discovered: Melee animations not loading Gun not switching to melee mode when pressing X-Tried multiple times and even dropped it but didn't fix Horse was running normally then started (only word I can't think of) spazzing out and flailing wildly. Map textures not loading then loading then not loading again, was a wild trip that one. Joined America, tried to spawn didn't work. Checked teams-fine, still can't join, hmm, go spec, America still able to be selected, tried to join still not working, go spectator again only this time for America to be greyed out. Epic gamer moment. Whilst writing the first draft of this review I reloaded the game to see if I was too harsh. I found a guy who glitched into A T-Pose on me (Screenshot on my profile in case you wish to see). Whether this is a feature or a bug is yet to be discovered. Now, early access I knew that I would be in for. Some of these bugs and that they would be fixed in the coming while. However I believe that this is a bad game and will always be a bad game, reasons for this are: Illogical Controls? There are some similarities with NW which many (myself included) believe to be an ok layout. X to change weapon use-from shooting, to melee, to back to shooting again. Seems fine. Left mouse to attack, right to block, reasonable and expected. However, "1" to use free camera is a bit wild and a head scratcher but "3" to go into first person that's really out there. NW free cam button which I out of muscle memory press and it brings up the coding from the bottom causing you to stop. So to return to the game, I need to exit one screen showing code, then a second one before being able to play the game. Melee system non-existent? To remain completely objective, I use directional keys to block in NW/Bannerlord. I always have and likely always will. Reason for stating this is remain as objective and use this as my basis, Prime and Load doesn't offer this yet or never will, I don't know so using mouse direction is pretty foreign to me and maybe my criticism stems from this and i have to simply "git gud". However I still believe this to be pretty poor. Attacks don't swing properly; blocking which is 50% of the melee system is downright garbage. I block down and not move a muscle and when I go reblock I'm any of the other directions apart from down so the meta appears to be hold an attack, move in a circle with your opponent, let the other guy swing and step back and kill him in one hit, gg ez dab. Speaking of hits damage appears to be random; there is no way to gauge this apparently. I swing at a guy full force and he is fine but he barely touches me and I'm dead. No words can describe the melee on horseback. Literally was stuck holding a down attack but could block any other directions when I moved my mouse but could only do a weird down stab. I include this here as it could be a glitch, it could be a poor melee system. It happened a few times so I do not believe it was a glitch. Weird Animations? This section is in two parts, broken animations and just weirdly done animations Melee animations do not appear as they should. In the rare moments where I'm thinking, hang on, I'm having a good duel, he's blocking and I'm blocking. We're both stabbing well and it's kind of fun. Is this the future of line battle gaming I wonder, when it happens. I go for an upswing, release the attack and nothing. Then my opponent thinks this guy is an easy picking and just stabs me, one hit and... Dead. Brown bread. Pie and breed. Second part of this is just downright weird animations, left block looks like NW blocking with the musket to the right and the bayonet up, but here the musket is to the right but bayonet down? I imagine blocking left and then blocking right would bring pain and discomfort to you in real as you'd be flipping the musket over which is just plain odd. Right blocking animations for all classes is weird, cav blocking right points the pointy end to the bottom as well which is just weird. Possible theory: Devs hate grass maybe? Aiming Bad? Line battles rely on two things. Shooting and stabbing. Stabbing is kind of lacklustre as discussed, shooting surely should be good? Sadly not. Currently in regimental battles in NW the aiming command is aim, hold for 2 seconds, and let the reticule fully close and then pew! This isn't possible here as the reticule opens and closes when aiming which is off putting to say the least but in large scale line battles which is the aim the feature would be annoying when you and your 25 man line are trying to shoot and your reticule opens and closes whilst aiming. I checked the options are there is no way to fix this. Currently aiming misses its mark. The aim animation isn't fluid either but this is already covered above. Some good features: The game is stunning. It looks amazing and it’s not high demanding. I have a mediocre at best pc and was running epic (literally the name) at 90fps and it looked amazing. The detail in game is fantastic, the grass and the water look great. Uniforms and characters are detailed as well of course (Although horse’s eyes are a bit freaky ngl) Shooting opponents hats off is quirky and made me laugh a few times as well. I like the sentiment of it and it’s humorous to aim and miss the guy but still knock his hat off. When asked the question “Do you recommend this game?" No is my answer. Bugs are an issue of early access but its wonky controls, poor aiming system and non-existent melee system are not made up for by hats flying off and nice grass. To highlight this here is a screenshot using my beloved right block to highlight my feelings, note it resembles a thumbs down, did the dev’s add this in to make it easy to show your disdain? https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2075652610

This is mount and blade. Whigs and tories mod all it is. Controls are weird. The HUD and Graphics are from early 2000. servers are crashing at 30 people. Menu selection doesnt work your fighting with your mouse.

I'm happy the devs decided to lower the price from $20 to $9. I'm happy to buy this game in Early Access and well knowing this is going to need work. I check out the server listings and it seemed I was the only player online xD. I found a weird glitch where it allowed my player to keep shooting without reloading so that's concerning. However main purpose of writing this is don't buy this if you're not willing to play a M&B Warband graphics game and realize alpha might be for a while then buy it.

Prime & Load : 1776 is a wannabe Mount and Blade: Napoleonic Wars cross with Holdfast. It's bad. I had an awful first impression, such that I couldn't be bothered to play more than a few moments of this. It's insulting that there isn't much to say about it. Usually I give games up too an hour of playtime before writing a review, but I was so terrified of having wasted money on this game that I refunded asap. I was expecting to be able to at least have a try, maybe see how the muskets fire and have a small game but that is, apparently, too much to ask. I couldn't even pass the menu, and I mean I physically couldn't, as in the game broke. Prime & Load : 1776 has an essentially none existent player base supported only by small groups in discord servers. It would be fair to say that no one is playing this game. There is very little content for the casual player and I think that is what this game is suffering from mostly, as mediocre as it is it could be better if it had more support for drop-in-drop-out sessions. Otherwise it has no draw for a wider audience. For such a small game it was barely able to function, it crashed my brothers laptop and I couldn't enter a single server without it black screening and taking ages to load. The fact that the game has such bare bones, awful, Warband era graphics is bad enough, but if you are going to get away with that at least allow the game to be optimized competently. Going from graphics into customisation, its about as well fleshed out as the games player base. You can choose three awfully bloated faces that essentially look the same anyway, complexion and a tiny assortment of hair. There exist buttons for misc items and such, although they are greyed out for some reason. Don't bother with this game. It's not worth it, and it's not even worth it free let alone £4. With such issues, this game will never be able to compete with games such as Holdfast, and never have the singleplayer potential of games such as Mount and Blade Napoleonic Wars. It's disappointing. Enjoy the content offered in similar games, rather than wasting time and money on this. 3/10
