Ok, so I like most other people got this game because I saw a big booty and had a spare few bucks. But the game has a surprising amount of content to be explored and uncovered. Seriously. There is so much puzzle gameplay here with a startling amount thrilling suspense wondering where the next gimmicky robot will pop out to attack you. There are many areas with a diverse amount of puzzles to mix it up. That however is where my compliments for this game entirely end. Although the puzzles are complex, the true difficulty of the game is understanding the mechanics and function of almost everything as no single mechanic of the game is ever explained to you, which makes this puzzle game riddled with complexities more than just frustrating to play, but legitimately unfair and unfun. There are items in the game extremely impertinent to your understanding and completion of the game that go woefully unexplained adding to the confusion of a ludicrously aimless map that (untold to the player of course) can only lead to the completion of the game when certain zones are completed in order. With the stiff unresponsive controls of our robotic protagonist, dying is extremely easy and commonplace, and with your limited saves, you’ll frequently find yourself repeating the same task in the previous life, and if you made the mistake of using up too many of your saves to advance meaningfully, and overwrote your saves congrats: you’ve soft locked the game. If you want to seriously complete (or even slightly advance through) the game, you will need to see one of the various walkthroughs the community offers for the game, because it is nigh unbeatable without the critical mechanics being explained atop of the challenging and often deceiving puzzle gameplay. But alas, there is virtually no incentive to see this game to completion, other than the pure elation of solving puzzles purposely made to frustrate and almost mock you for even playing it for this long. Which in a game with some semblance of a narrative or story, would typically make one double down on trying to beat the game. But in Haydee there is no attempt at telling a compelling story, or even story at all. Now maybe I've been spoiled as a consumer of interesting stories and gameplay as a consumer. But god-damn, even Poptropica and Club Penguin have more lore and invoking narrative gameplay. When literally anything surpasses your creation in storytelling simply because they bothered to ya’know, make a story that’s highly underwhelming and pretty dang sad. It’s surprising because with the enormous amount of effort put into the variety of difficult puzzles, I cannot stop questioning why the developers refused to add any amount of narrative to this soulless game. I see the effort there, but there is not a single reason to give a sh*t about completing the game. Every single one of the 3 endings this game offers is a sloppy and absolutely disappointing end, wholly unfulfilling to the hours of work that could be put into this game. If you want them here they are, and honestly by reading this you aren’t missing anything:
Haydee finds another Haydee bot standing atop a pile of dead Haydee bots, but it has red lights instead of blue. You can either kill her, then you become a red light Haydee and the game ends, or use a mine to both die, then the game ends. The 3rd ending you find a keycard to a door that should lead to the exit, only to advance and the game abruptly ends.
All the endings end with a black screen, so there is literally nothing explained as to why or what happened, and you are free to make wild theories as to what they mean. The game ends as it was played: filled with rampant confusion. Ultimately the complete lack of indirect characterization that the world around Haydee makes this game empty and purposeless. Other silent protagonists, for example Gordon Freeman is a daring and entertaining character because of how he interacts with the world and how other characters react to the player’s actions. Wordless protagonists like Link and Chel define their brand because despite them saying nothing, they are characterized by the world around them to make them interesting. Haydee has none of that. The chambers you enter are just as devoid and dry of story as the dull reality that Haydee is just an emotionless android with a fat ass. This is funny for a few minutes, but proves to just hammer in how much of a waste of time this game is. It sucks because really think the developers were onto something here, inverting the expectation of a sexy game to be bad. But then it gave actual expectations and standards, yet proved to be entirely unremarkable because of a failure to actually define a brand or character to give a sh*t about. Am I the idiot for expecting gold when I saw a glint of something golden? Perhaps so. Did I get pimped out of my money just because I saw virtual booty? Definitely yes. To concluded, if you enjoy mindlessly solving repetitive and purposefully annoying puzzles, with the tease of a thicc robot booty leading you on like a carrot on a stick, then go ahead, Haydee is your game. (note that while nothing sexual actually happens to her model, nor does it change at all, you can go to workshop and download some racier outfits if that’s your prerogative). If you enjoy or need to have some slight ounce of storytelling by any measure to enjoy your puzzle gaming experience, this is not your game. Put your dong away and find a better puzzle game or put your dong to better use on a better “adult” game elsewhere. TLDR: The puzzles are challenging and they are plentiful. But the game is often very repetitive and nothing is explained. There is no story, and your only satisfaction will be completing puzzles for the sake of completing puzzles. The biggest complexity is not gameplay, but the lack of explanation of mechanics which makes the game very annoying. Don’t buy this game just because you are horny ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)

Haydee is a niche game. There's a lot of games that are just "not for everybody", and Haydee fits the bill. Most of the attention regarding the game is about the design of the protaganist. If you like THICK android girls with massive assets that jiggle with her gait, then you'll probably be all for it. But I play Haydee for the game. A quick glance at the achievements stats shows that less than 3% of people who have played Haydee have even beaten it. Most players haven't even passed the tutorial. Haydee is a simplistic sort of game, but it's brutally hard and unforgiving. It suits a 'metroidvania' style of progression. You exit one zone, get a device or keycard that might let you get halfway through another zone, then go do that and get another item that opens up a couple other zones... that sort of thing. The controls are unique, and somewhat unintuitive at first. They demand a certain rhythm that other games don't. The simple act of jumping onto a ledge requires multiple button presses. Haydee moves with a certain sluggishness, as if she struggles to manoeuvre with the size of her chest. It's far from terrible - after a little while moving around will become second nature; but it does take that getting used to. Rather than 'puzzles', of which there are only a handful, the challenge of Haydee lies mostly in the shooting. It's a perfectly functional third-person shooter with an element of survival horror. Ammo and healing items are scarce, poor aim is regularly punished with a very quick death, and the game LOVES to catch you off guard by spawning enemies behind you, around corners, even in rooms you've already been through. The game simply isn't always fair. You die, and learn by dying. There's often an element of sheer trial and error, of regularly backtracking through parts you've already played to give an encounter or room another crack. In a couple of places, the game simply spawns an armed mine around a corner, and unless you're rigorously checking every single inch you pass through, you'll find yourself instantly killed without warning. Haydee even adopts an old school Resident-Evil style 'ink ribbon' save system. You find consumable items, called Diskettes, that allow you to save your game at save points. They're abundant - even saving at every opportunity I could I still had a couple dozen diskettes by the time I finished my first playthrough. There's a certain tact to the ambience. All of the music, a sensible original soundtrack, simply adds to the feel of each area. It's all a very low-key ambient-electronica. An upbeat percussive rhythm for a brightly-lit and open zone. Low, bassy chimes for a cramped, pitch-black area crawling with enemies. Deep and breezy sustained notes on a tower of corridors clouded in toxic gas. They all fit quite well, and subtly add to the various tensions of the gameplay. Ultimately, what sets Haydee apart from most games (aside from the protagonist's design) is the game's insistence on not guiding or telling the player what to do. This isn't a game that holds your hand - in fact, it doesn't even point you in the right direction. "Figure it out yourself", it seems to say. No map, no arrows, no objective markers, not even an indication of what you're supposed to do. It's entirely possible (and common) to waltz straight out of the tutorial and immediately enter the final zone without any knowledge that you don't have the items required to complete it. I love Haydee - the game, not the protagonist. There's something so immensely rewarding about beating a game so brutally difficult and has no interest in telling you how to do that. It's something for "hardcore" gamers of a sort. If you feel like games these days are just made too easy, Haydee is an example that goes the clear opposite direction - not just a challenge, but a proper kick to the jiggly android backside. This is a game that is, above all else, completely unafraid of what it is - and in doing that, it fits a niche that no other game quite meets. If that sounds good to you, then I heartily recommend it.
