Recursos do Hand of Doom

An apprentice wizard, seeking always to gain more power, enters the service of a powerful sorcerer to do his bidding. Now, trapped in eternal servitude, you are sent on a quest across the planes of existence to seek out and slay the Doomlords who preside over reality itself, all in the name of preventing universal disaster.

THE MASTER OF DEATH

The master of death has been resurrected. The choice is entirely up to you in this doom metal and dark fantasy-inspired world.

This game has a lot of potential so far, with great sights and sounds, as well as some unique mechanics. I really enjoy the story and the fact that the game is not taking itself too seriously. The only thing I'd ask is if they could update this game with more options to adjust things like the controls and mouse sensitivity, as well as some ways to make the visuals a little less choppy at times. Otherwise, it was great to see this game evolve from the original 'Dread X Collection' into something more substantial.

the fmv part of the game is what really makes it stands out. The motions of your characters spellcasting as they chant is aeshtetically cool but realistically the game has the slower feel and pacing as well as expectations given to the time period that its a homage to aka it be the smoothest mid 90s adventure game ever made. Still awesome to me, but it's a niche pleasure that'll likely be lacking to some so 4/5 edit: maybe i'd bring it down to a 3/5 if I never get out of this hellish elemental landscape. will confirm later

Electric Wizard Simulator Sometimes you encounter a game that's like it was made exactly for you. Hand of Doom is one of those for me. If you love the look and sound of this game, odds are it will be for you too.

Well, that was a strange and unique game in many ways, it's not exactly a deep RPG, but perhaps a cool aesthetic experience if you enjoy the silliness, it's kinda like a classic dungeon crawler that has those 90s fantasy video tape cutscenes, not to mention some very unique puzzle elements (a bit like Magicka) - I only hesitate to recommend it because it is kind of a slow burn, the actual gameplay is very methodic, not a lot happening in the first 90 minutes or so, and it's not a game that will hold your hand, it's very easy to get lost if you not paying attention. It might look like a classic dungeon crawler, but I assure you it's a puzzle game, 90% of this game is puzzles and navigation (especially toward the end, it got very grindy), a ton of backtracking too, sometimes fun, sometimes not so much. I pretty much played the whole thing with no interruptions, took me about 7 hours, and I missed a few secrets, you can like find specials weapons and some other collectibles, although they don't have that much usage, the combat in this game while fun for the first 30 minutes, has no relevance in this game, the enemies are just obstacles, and there is no reason to fight them. So yea, if you expect a retro-inspired game like Lunacid where you upgrade stats and optimize your character, it's not that kind of game, for the most part, it's figuring out where to go and how to get there. The "BIG" highlight of this game is the spell system (granted it's super slow and methodic), you may have seen other games where you combine different runes or words to create various spells, but what I really enjoyed is how they would interact with the environment. For example, sometimes you can navigate by walking on water, but when you get a rock armor spell you can sink into the water and explore underneath, and that is just one of many cool things that this game does - the puzzles very much make you think outside the box. Despite the cheesy nature of the game which I personally enjoyed, there are some weird pockets of a good narrative there as well, I thought the whole "flesh" chapter was very enjoyable, almost felt like playing a different game, even a bit spooky. There were some good atmospheric moments with enjoyable escapism, not every location was fun to explore, but there were a few decently made areas. Unfortunately, I felt the very first 2 areas were a bit dull in comparison, the first level I really started to enjoy was the fireland.

    Pros:

(+) There were some very cool puzzles mechanics in this game, like the spells can interact with the environment in different ways, you can like walk on water, but also use a rock spell to explore below, and just all kinds of weird interactions that you would not expect in a dungeon crawler at all. You can transform into a monster, go into a different realm, all kinds of weird crap. (+) Personally, I think the whole classic dungeon crawler + video tape visuals was a very cool experience, it depends on the area, sometimes the game can be very cringy, but it had some hilarious moments as well, even good narrative in some parts of the game. I think the game got better as it went on. I enjoyed most of the levels as well, maybe except the forest. (+) I kinda blasted through the game, it's around 7 hours which is not bad, it has some secret areas for bonus weapons like the fire axe or the lightning sword (I think I missed a few too). Hidden areas don't have a lot of usage, but the game has a decent amount of content, secrets and variety in general. (+) Actually, decently fair navigation, now the game won't tell you exactly where to go most of the time, but I found the map very helpful, I like that you can zoom out too. It may not look like it, but it feels like there was some thought process to the game design, it's not just a low-quality dungeon crawler.

    Feedback:

Nitpicks: The only weak part of the game for me was the combat, there was no reason to fight enemies, so not only I would skip them, it also made the hidden weapons less useful. I assume they did it on purpose, many retro RPGs actually didn't have progression, but if you are looking for that, you won't find any depth here. Sometimes I felt like the game didn't respect my time, I think the very last level was a big overkill with the backtracking. On a side note, I don't get why Blizzard removes the frost shield. Took me forever to put those 2 together. I didn't get the clue with the hands, solved it by accident. Overall Thoughts: 7/10 Cool game for the right person I guess, I am honestly not sure if younger people would enjoy it. This game did a lot of really cool things I didn't expect, there is more to it than you might think, and somewhere in the middle I was having a fantastic time just navigating the stages, but toward the end it started to lose speed, the spell system was creative, but you overused it to a point where I just wanted it to stop. Overall I just thought the entire experience was very unique, it's cheesy but I personally didn't mind that, I think it had some funny moments and enjoyable cutscenes. Way better and (a lot) longer than the version in the first Dread X collection. The pixels disagree with my eyes less, the gameplay feels smoother and I LOVE the FMV animations. Also don't go into area past the vine wall near your room at the start the moment you get fireball, I think it jumps you to a later part of the game so you might not have all the necessary spells.
