Recursos do Dead Synchronicity: Tomorrow Comes Today

Dead Synchronicity stands as a modern adventure classic, telling a dark, sad and brutal tale that will leave you wanting more, but equally satisfied.

80% - Adventure Gamers

Darkness.

And then there was light… but not enough for Michael to find out who he is and what happened to the world out there. The “Great Wave”, the “dissolved”... are just hollow words in his looted mind.

"Dead Synchronicity: Tomorrow Comes Today" is the first part of the "Dead Synchronicity" series:

Help Michael face a dying reality, a universe that’s fading away. Face a merciless world that gets sick and vanishes. Face no past, no present, no future. Face the impending moment of “dead synchronicity”.

And you’d better hurry. Because, otherwise... what will you do when Time dissolves itself?

A terrible pandemic is turning all of humanity into “the dissolved” - the sick whose deliria provide them with supernatural cognitive powers... but also steer them towards a gruesome death.

The root of this illness seems to be “the Great Wave”, an inexplicable chain of natural disasters that destroyed all energy sources and communications and plunged the world into a chaos ruthlessly controlled by both the authorities and the army alike.

Michael, a man with no past, will have to recover his identity and decode the events that brought the world to the edge of collapse. Because, if he doesn’t hurry, he won’t be able to avoid the impending moment of “dead synchronicity”, when Time itself dissolves…

Dead Synchronicity: Tomorrow Comes Today is a point and click adventure that features a stunning dystopian plot, a distinctive, expressionist 2D art style, and an atmospheric soundtrack.

The game pays homage to classic adventures (The Secret of Monkey Island, Broken Sword, Day of the Tentacle...) but revolves around a more mature theme, along the lines of games such as I Have no Mouth and I Must Scream or Sanitarium.

KEY FEATURES

  • Classic adventure gameplay combined with mature theme

  • 2D graphics featuring a unique, expressionist style

  • Space-time distortions, a dystopian atmosphere... and a dark, bloodstained plot

  • Featuring soundtrack from indie rock band Kovalski (available as DLC)

  • "Guybrush meets Mad Max meets 12 Monkeys"

    Dead Synchronicity

A really solid mix of point & click adventure and visual novel. Not a perfect game, but it still has everything an adventure fan could want. The story is extremely dark, almost disturbing at times. The only real downside is the open end with no sequel in sight 7 years later. +Artstyle. While I don't like the character art, the backgrounds are very well done. +Very interesting dystopian story, but very grim and disturbing at times. Not for the faint of heart. Still, it really stands out from the mass of adventure games out there. +Good voice acting and well-written dialogues. +An ok soundtrack. Nothing special. +Few, but well-written characters that fit perfectly into the "New World". +Spacebar to highlight possible interactions and double-click to quickly switch between scenes for some quality of life. +Solid playtime for the gerne. About 8-10 hours for 100% achievements. +-Puzzles are ok, but they all fall into the combine-items-from-your-inventory-with-your-environment category. A little creativity wouldn't have hurt here. At least almost all puzzles are logical combinations and not very difficult to solve. -Mighty cliffhanger at the end and no sequel in sight. Conclusion: If you like the genre, get it on sale or at full price. It's well worth the money. And let's hope for a sequel at some point. Personal Score: 7.5/10

The game ends with a cliffhanger and the series is currently abandoned.

Good story but looks like it was abandoned so can't recommend it. The game is unfinished, and if sequel will never come out better avoid.

It's good, but only part of the story. Should be labeled "Part 1" because this isn't complete. It's an interesting enough narrative, and the gameplay works well for the genre it is made in. The absolutely essential part of the game is that it isn't complete with the other part of the game nowhere in sight. Avoid this until the sequel comes, if it does.

Game doesn't even tell a full story; it surprises you with the reveal that it's only PART 1 in a series that has been ABANDONED. You will never know how the story ends. Why bother?

Great setting, atmposphere and plot points. Voice acting top notch all the way as well as the artstyle. Until you feel cheated at the ending of course, with no sense of closure or feeling of a cliffhanger.

It is a bit sad to have to end up writing a "negative" review for this game. TL:DR : the game ends abruptly, there might be a second chapter, i guess? In its current condition the game is just not complete. Plot wise...this is the most odd part. Aside of the amount of backtracking (it looks like as if each single puzzles requires you to get back each single time), you can sort of enjoy the usual sort of adventure with no major twist on the gameplay. The story itself goes through a sort of apocalyptic "end of the world" theme: the entire world has been struck with an event (which is very generically described) and humanity is now plagued by a disease which renders ill people into dissolution, therefore making them the Dissolved. Your role sets a bit between trying to find out a cure and finding the truth about yourself, as you seem to be linked to it... Some of the puzzles are pretty much non-sense...that kind of breaks the immersion you can have, although aside of them the overall story deserves to be played, despite of the major issue with it: basically, the game ends abruptly, cutting the story short of any end at all. Visually, it is an outstanding looking game: the background images are drawn in a way that leaves little to imagination, it really shows how the concept was right there. And within its cruel and sharp desolation, it also has a sort of aesthetic value to itself... The voice acting is truly accurate, well executed and on spot: each voice feels fitting to the character it is talking for, and each of the characters are well thought of, well characterized and truly set apart from each other. On a sad note, the soundtrack sounds to me as if its not particularly (always) fitting to the atmosphere, and in particular the default volume balance (which is set to 100% for both the soundtrack and dialogues) makes it really overwhelming! I actually toned it down about to 70%. Anyhow, it feels a bit too exhaggerated most of the time, there are a couple of times when it truly feels fitting, but for the most part i felt like the rythm it uses is too fast in comparison to the scene its coupled with.

This game should be marked "Episode 1" I did not like finding out at the end that I paid for only half a game. Aside from this gripe, it is a good game.

Great adventure game, good story with kind of quirky graphics but technically it is solid,a few minor issues with the gameplay, a lot of the puzzles are not intuitive at all and also there are some screens where you really have to look to find the edge and a new area, the main reason why I am giving this a negative review is because it is part 1 of a story. When I buy an adventure game, I am expecting a full story unless it is labeled episode 1, and I usually avoid those games entirely, the developers should have marked this Episode 1,it is not the full story it ends on a cliffhanger. If they give the rest of the game to people who bought this or release dlc I will change this review but the whole point of most adventure type of games like this is to have an interactive story, I feel like this is only chapter 1 and we do not get a complete story.

TL;DR: An ok adventure ruined by poor writing and delirious ending. Dead Synchronicity starts with an interesting premise, but quickly ruins it with overextended and boring dialogues, bland characters and some bizzare puzzles. Even the world, which feels interesting to explore at first, eventually turns out to be just a few screens you are forced to travel back and forth for the second part of the game. But even given all of that I would still recommend the game if not for an absolutely stupid ending which feels like a very poor excuse to explain why the world is the way it is. And, of course, the game ends on a cliffhanger, but it's already been 3 years since the release and there's no word on a sequel. So no, keep away from this half-finished story.
