Get commandos 2: Men of courage instead. Ok, I am not saying that this game is terrible. I played many many hours of it in the past. But compared to Commandos 2, It's not what it could be. Where commandos 2. Had a smooth learning curve. Commandos 3, throws that over board and just throws you into the deep and straight after the tutorial. Lets compare commandos 2 to commandos 3 for a quick bit. the tutorial of commandos 2 was ok. First one was quite easy, but explaining the basics very well. Then the second one gave you the feeling of a real mission in a smaller setting. Still a little easier than the main missions, it gave a good learning experience of the game. Mainly because not everything was explained to you. commandos 3 tutorial was too simple. You began training a whole long missions learning the basic moves of some of the commandos, all in a way too linear fashion. Then the second tutorial should have been the smaller mission. And it is. But compared to the actual missions, this one is way too easy, and again every move you need to make is fed to you with a spoon. but okay, the main missions are quite hard. they aren't impossible. Just require a whole lot of messing things up. Missions. Hard, doable but okay. their settings differ nicely from eachother. Though the difference could be as good as it was in commandos 2. But what i disliked most, is the linear feeling most of the missions have. Do this, go to that do that again. It just doesn't feel like the past where you had open levels and you could do them in any way you liked. Story wise, they did nicely too. They actually managed to add in 3 stories in the game. one about a traitor, one for the D-day campain. And one about a weapon if i am not mistaken. Not the spectacular stories you would hope for, but it's there at least. Diversity in players is lacking though. I feel that I am mostly just using the same players mission after mission. While leaving some alone. they even cut out some players from the previous game. But why they only used the diver in 1 mission i can't understand. Then we have the gameplay. It's okay at best. As someone who is common with commandos 2 controls this is a whole difference. Because mainly it's the same game as C2. Just with some major ajustments. Some are good, some are bad. Control wise, It could have done better. A lot of the shortcut keys are gone. And I have the feeling to get a different weapon out I am clicking more than I did in previous installments. But that is just knitpicking. Of course there are mods to enable more shortcut keys. It does improve on some mechanics though. Weapon distribution and handling is improved. And the free moving camera indoors works great too. If yhey used these mechanics in Commandos 2, than that would have been a straight A game. But last thing I am saddened about. It doesn't work as well on modern pc's. Commandos 2 still works greatly on my PC. but commandos 3 needs so many changes to the game files to keep it working. It's just not worth it. But to make it short. commandos 3. It is a good game. but only if you are a long term fan of the series. but don't expect it to be as good as commandos 2. My reccomendation. Get commandos 2 if you haven't already. It's longer and has better gameplay. If you already got, and this game does turn up with 75% off. Then it's worth getting. Just so you can feel how it could be better. Otherwise, Just stay a long way away from it.

As a massive Commandos fan, I don't recommend it. In my opinion it's a step back from previous games. A lot of content got cut out, game is very short and linear, many missions depend on time and force you to play aggressively (even if you prefer the stealth approach). There are a few nice missions, but they seem more like Commandos 2 Bonus missions. After such an outstanding game like Commandos 2, I can't believe why they made something unappealing like this. Only for fans who just need to have a bit more of Commandos (and then probably play previous Commandos games again...). If you're new to Commandos - skip this game, get Commandos 2 instead, later play Commandos BEL and Commandos BtCoD. Driver (okie-dokie!) is missing :(

I'm just being a little picky here, it's a great game if you are VERY smart. I really suggest that you get this game when it's about 75% off, but not when it's full price. I'm new to the commandos series and I made a mistake with playing this one first. Here's a little poem I came up with which explains my experience with the game: I love the gameplay, I hate the controls... There's a lot of bullcrap, the Germans are trolls.

Does not play on modern era computers. Steam refused to give me a refund on this game as well, citing that it "was not eligible" for refund. Your welcome for the money Valve. Garbage. You need to have used this product for at least 5 minutes before posting a review for it (2 minutes on record). I can't even write a review cause the game doesn't work!!!! HAHAHA Seems Valve has thought of it all.

I shall say it is very hard to believe it is a sequel of Commandos 2. In the previous game everything is done nearly to the perfect. 1, In Commandos 2, you have much more characters to play with, although not every single one of them is necessary, but it offers various way to complete the mission. In 3 a single mission only provides at most 3 character. Not to mention the neglected Diver (my favorite character in 2) only show up once by himself. Not to further mention that mission is so fa boring. 2, There is even a time limit for a mission, which is against the spirit of the stealth tactics games: patience. ( I think it is the mission where you control green beret to remove the obstacle for a train. That mission I literally shoot everyone. There is no need in hiding.) 3, There is a reward system in investigating every single drawer of each mission and unlocking the bonus missions in Commandos 2. Commandos 3 deletes it and even deletes all of the drawers. It is not a question of whether you should investigate a drawer. Now you simply can't. 4, Commandos 2's control is also friendly like Commandos 1. You could do a lot with a combination of keyboard and mouse, whereas in 3 their attempt in simplifying controls brings much more trouble in swiftly performing an action. I cannot quickly switch weapons with keyboard shortcuts if enemies are coming for me or I need to eliminate multiple of them at once. I once had trouble in finding the fist button and beat to death by a soldier worker who does not even use a firearm. 5, Commandos 3's map is significantly smaller than the maps in 2. There is only one goal per mission in commandos 3. There are no bonus goals. There is no summary of how well you completed mission. It feels the same by using rifles shooting everyone and using careful plans to eliminate without a trace. Game system does not reward anything great that you have done. 6, The mission goals are hard to find. On the small map there is no clear indication of what you should do to complete the goal. "Eliminate all the enemies" Sometimes I pass the mission without even eliminating all of them. "Destroy the tanks" do I destroy all of them or do I destroy some particular two of them? What I have mentioned are all existing features in Commandos 2 but absent in Commandos 3!! Unlike Commandos 2 is a revolutionary improve on a good system of Commandos 1, Commandos 3 cannot even copy some great things done by 2. In all, do not play this game unless you are a big fan of stealth tactics and cannot find anything else similar. (like me) I also sincerely wish that all of these game could have a better plot writer. All of them (Commandos and Shadow tactics) seem to be focusing on a traitor and you trying to eliminate him. This is not the only way you could introduce a genuine plot twist, right?

Commandos 3 is a very terrible game. It ruins the good reputation of Commandos series and the best experience of Commandos 2. This game has too much bug. I think it maybe not finished. Because the actual experience is very different from the introduction of game help. It looks like these developers have done with this game in a hurry, then they quickly release it without quality inspection. Cons: - No movies and bonus levels. - All missions are very hard. You can't change the difficulty of game. - You can't use mouse to scroll the map. - Although tutorial will tell you how to use some shortcuts, but most of them are wrong. - Some items have no shortcuts. Because you can't customize keys in this game, the only way is click them. But sometimes this way will lose the best chance in combat. - Most of items on the ground are too small to see. - Too many interesting items in the Commandos 2 are disappeared. - You can't search furniture to find items anymore. The only container you can search is box. But a lot of boxes in the game are empty. - Game doesn't tell you that you must use the gas mask first before you throw the gas weapon. - Game help says that every commando can drive the cars. But in fact you can't drive all cars in the game unless mission allows you to drive it. - If a commando is shot, his first-aid kit will disappear. So you can't heal him. - Game can't display the sound area of your commandos. - Game can't display the view area of soldiers who standing on the roof of train station. - Enemy field of view will be cancelled if you change to another commando. It's very annoying. - Some enemy soldiers will walk out of map view area. You can't do anything to them unless they walk back. - Russian soldiers speak German. German soldiers will speak English when Spy asking them to leave position. - All soldier uniforms are the same. The only difference between them is color. - Tiger and other tanks can be destroyed by a few small grenades just because they have HP in this game. - Developers use more cheaper Real-Time Rendering cutscenes instead of beautiful CG cutscenes. - The whole campaign story of Central Europe is a mess. I don't understand why Germans want to detonate the rail for stop their own train with so many German soldiers and officers on board.

I'm a great fan of the Commandos series, and on my opinion, Commandos 3 is the worst. Why? It doesn't feels like a Commandos game. It's most dedicated to the action: there is a lot of explosions, demolitions, huge groups of enemies, a lot of big and powerful weapons available on the stages to be used, and the explicit objective of kill all the enemies on some missions. Yes, you can choose different ways to play, but there isn't reasons, contexts or awards to play it stealthily. The D-Day mission is the best example of this, with a big battalion at your orders like a RTS, random deaths on the beach like Saving Private Ryan and big cannons shooting. Contrary to this, the Marine's mission is the only greatly enjoyable stealth stage. The trains mission, one of the best of the game, doesn't works on Windows 10. In addition, the control is a little bad and unconfortable, the texts and story worst and it has no sense (Why the nazis could explode the bridge of the train with their own troops? Why were the Commandos captured just under the Reichstag on Berlin? Why was the Green Beret, a high valued soldier on the first line of troops on the D-Day?), and there is a lot of funny glitches and unfunctional objects on the maps. The 3D is bad, doesn't works. But... is still a enjoyable game only for true, true fans of the series. Some action missions are very well designed, the graphics are the best of the series, the music is excelent. But is a little repetitive. the code is careless, like an unfinished game. PD: I'll wait Commandos: Strike Force on Steam.

Simply put, the worst Commandos game in the series. - Graphics are locked at 800 x 600. A step backwards from Commandos 2 - Too many timed missions. Commandos is all about planning and playing at your own pace. - Too many sudden events triggered for no apparent reasons, often ruining a level especially if one saved at the wrong time. - Sizes of maps are too small; number of which is too few.

To be honest it's not as good as the others in the series, however this is still a decent strategy game and I still enjoyed it.
