  Really torn to have to give anything from SCS a thumbs down; I have bought pretty much everything they release (other than some paint packs) the day it is released and in general, it is solid content. This one really feels like it was rushed to complete and/or really lacked pre-release testing. I will look to update this if/when these issues are fixed but the bottom line for right now is hold off unless you can tolerate the gaps while still paying full price. The bad short list: - New cities are unoptimized - there are stutters & FPS drops down to mid 40's on a i9-9820X/RTX 2080Ti rig - Tons of errors in the gamelog - I have played for a short period of time and have 2 pages of warnings/errors - Floating/sinking vehicles everywhere - in the 4 different cities I have driven through so far the vast majority of scenery vehicles, whether parked on the street or in driveways have either at least 1 wheel hovering or 1 wheel sunk in the map surface The good short list: - Some areas are really gorgeous - the 55/95 run from Boise to Grangeville is just stunning

  Superb expansion and full credit to SCS for getting this out so promptly and in such a polished state in what is some very difficult circumstances for many smaller developers globally. Although Idaho is similar in size to Utah, this DLC is vastly improved in terms of design, new assets, road layout variety and overall enjoyment. Despite only having 11 new cities, each one feels different and highly detailed. Many of Utah's cities felt like barren wastelands or linear side roads in what was a rather bland and uninspired expansion. This one is way better and hopefully a new standard going forward. This is an absolute must buy for all owners of ATS and it's sure to add many more hours of content for you to enjoy. It'll certainly keep you busy until Colorado hopefully later this year.

  Idaho adds a beautifully crafted state to American Truck Simulator with 11 cities separated by a very varied landscape. From plains in the southern part of the state to mountains and forested areas in the north, Idaho has a lot to offer. New to this state, and unique to it so far, are viewpoints: special areas where you can stop your truck to have a fly-over cutscene play out showing some of the surrounding area that you would otherwise not be able to see. While driving near Coeur d'Alene I also found an unmarked highway curling over a mountain, and there are other unmarked roads nearby. It looks like Idaho is SCS's most detailed state yet, and I really look forward to discovering even more of it. Definitely recommended, even if you only have the base game. In fact, if you were to get just one DLC, currently I would recommend it be Idaho.

  As a Boise resident, it is extremely amusing to see exactly what was taken out and which parts were adhered to: -Ontario to the Treasure Valley takes literally 3 minutes instead of 3 hours, but it's not like you're missing out on much scenery there unless you like sagebrush and dirt. -Meridian, Eagle, and Nampa are now apparently the same city with the feed store as it's centerpiece. -Capitol Blvd (one of the most recognizable streets in all of downtown) is almost completely missing, including the split at the Capitol building. -I loved that the Grove hotel (er, sorry, the Pine Hotel) was included. However, The Grove Plaza, instead of having a giant fountain and cool walkways is now just a hot dog stand in the middle of some bricks. That was really funny to see. -The entirety of the Bench/Hillcrest area is gone, as well as about 15 miles of the surrounding area. -While it's really cool to see a reference to Roaring Waters, Wahooz (or Boondocks if you're old like me) is missing from next door, which is odd since the two are practically on top of one another. -Some of the surrounding foliage are waaaaaay too green at times. As much as I love my hometown, the grasses around here are like 99.99999% cheat-grass, so it's yellow as hell. However, the detail everywhere else is STELLAR, really impressive seeing all of the gorgeous areas of Idaho I drive daily recreated in fantastic detail. I especially loved seeing references to areas that I thought were just local things, like the BSU field actually being blue despite no way to see it from the road, or the Jump Building (renamed the Drop, haha), or Bodo being so well modeled right down to the design of the parking garage. My favourite one was probably the Linder Farms corn field, which in the fall gets turned into a giant corn maze and in this DLC has a message from the developers etched into it. The highway and interstate ramps and exits are absolutely spot on, as are the environmental details like the sage and rocks of lower Idaho, and the sprawling pines of Coeur d'Alene and Lewiston. No matter what weird uncanny valley feelings I was getting from the idiosyncrasies, I always knew exactly where I was and felt like I was home. Wonderful job, SCS, keep on truckin! (EDIT In response to a couple comments: Yeah, I admit I totally got my timing wrong on the Ontario/Boise travel time. It's still funny to see it directly next to Meridian like it is in the game. I stand by the comment that there is absolutely nothing interesting you're missing out on that's cut.)

  SCS Software raised the bar once again, as expected. They've truly dominated the art of shrinking a state to a small scale while keeping its main characteristics and also populating it with an absurd amount of detail. Every city looks unique, with specific landmarks, signage, architecture, vegetation, etc. And that also goes for all the roads and its respective surroundings, which range from spectacularly rendered mountainous terrain with rivers and lots of trees to massive farmlands. It never feels like you are driving in the same environment over and over again. It varies greatly from area to area and it adds up a lot to the immersion factor. It seemed as if they only could go so far due to engine limitations, but they've proven people wrong. Idaho is a masterpiece and I can't wait to see how far they are gonna push it next time (Colorado). Performance is rock solid, fully maxed out (1920x1080, 60fps, 400% scaling). Smooth as heck! PS: You can save up to 30% with the PNW pack (if you already own everything else, of course). Quite a deal!
