Two Point Hospital: Off the Grid Funciones

From Hogsport to Blighton, from Flemington to Smogley, from here to remote corners of the Wanderoff County Park, everyone is talking about Mother Nature.

Tabitha Windsock, Two Point County’s every-present mayor, has put rivers and forests back on the map with her sudden concern for ‘green-issues’. She’s got morals, integrity and, above all else, a cloying desperation to stay in office.

That’s right, voter research has repeatedly suggested that the environment is the No. 1 issue on everyone’s mind, here in Two Point County, and Ms Windsock is more than willing to fall on the sword of extensive positive press by founding the Department of Green Things.

You’ll face new illnesses, some of them bizarre, even by your standards, and manage new gameplay mechanics on your route to eco-friendly success. We believe in you, and Tabitha does too (sort of).

Wanderoff County Park

In Wanderoff County Park, Holistix have been farming rare, natural ingredients for years. Once they heard that the Mayor was planning to trial her green initiative in the area, they decided to open a nature commune, and take advantage of the foot traffic. It's our job to care for the people attached to those feet. Our funding from Holistix will depend on how well we're scoring on their new scale...

Yes, the (less than) fine people at Holistix have developed something called a "Wellness Index", which uses a number of different criteria to measure the overall wellbeing of a community. They believe that they've found a correlation between high scores on the Wellness Index and a willingness to purchase their organic tat. We won't receive much for diagnosing and treating patients, so if we want to make money we'll need to score well on the Wellness Index by focusing on its six criteria: staff and patient happiness; attractiveness; hygiene; reputation; and cure rate.

Old Newpoint

Welcome to Old Newpoint, the original settlement in the current era of Two Point County. Though there is no way to know exactly what happened, a cataclysmic event brought an end to the prior civilisation in Two Point County. It was in Old Newpoint, then just Newpoint, that our foreparents founded life as we know it and began to build sheds, make wicker things, and establish our problems and traditions.

Many of those traditions are practiced in the area to this day, for some reason… Yes, strange traditions such as herbal medicine and horticulture. The residents practice a root-to-stem approach, you won’t find them munching on Cheesy Gubbins, so you’ll need to keep everyone fed and watered by growing your own fruit and vegetables, and collecting rainwater. But the botany doesn’t end there - no! - medicinal Herb Gardens need to be used to treat the region’s most herbaceous afflictions.

Get gardening.

Windsock City

Welcome to Windsock, the County’s first eco-city and its most expensive thing to be named after, and founded by, the same person. The city has taken over the news, provoking questions like: “How does this work?”, “Why haven’t we done it before?” and “Who paid for this?”. Say what you like about Tabitha, she really wants to get re-elected.

Windsock City doesn’t rely on the usual means of power. Instead, you’ll need to build green energy machines to stay switched-on and self-sufficient. Each of your green energy machines, whether it’s a wind turbine, solar panel or hydro-dam, will increase the power capacity of the hospital. The power that you generate can be used to open rooms in your hospital, or allocated to the Patient Flow and Staff Applicants systems, to influence transport in and out of the city.

Heading off the beaten path brings with it a range of new illnesses! Two Point Hospital: Off the Grid features 35 brand new illnesses, 9 of them visual with a range of new and exciting treatment rooms.

Visual illnesses like:

  • Harebrained

  • Root Snoot

  • Green Fingers

  • Ramshackled

  • Perforated Thoughts

And non-visual illnesses like:

  • Bodily Druids

  • Flappy Hamper

  • Tenderbox

… and more!

Bag yourself a delightful collection of new eco-friendly items for your hospitals, including a fetching rainwater collector, a door between dimensions and what can only be described as one of the best butter churners in videogames.

To be honest I am a little bored because of the same schematic DLC - new rooms, items and maps. DLCs for Two Point lack some new, interesting mechanics, which should be introduced to the game. I would love to see DLC which is even 2x expensive but has some new activities. Global pandemic? New upgrade options to the existing rooms which requires some form of collectable? Garbage disposal mechanic? New usable items for existing diagnostic rooms, which are required for specific illness? Ambulance and new staff type - paramedic? It’s fun to play the game again, because of new maps but after fourth DLC, which only presents us new illness type, something really new would be a welcome change.

I adore Two Point, but I'm afraid these DLCs are becoming really samey. For the money they are fine, maybe you'll get 8-10 hours play out of them. The addition of new diseases and rooms actually becomes quite a chore after a while. They are fun to watch the animation through once, but then it's just more of the same. The slightly new game modes (power consumption etc) were an interesting addition that can be built upon. There's still a load of quality of life issues that need looked at (for example with so many treatment rooms now, employing a diagnostic nurse becomes a game of unticking 15 boxes every time., Just put in an uncheck all button). The direction I hope the game takes now is a major overhaul expansion pack with a new campaign, rather than a dlc. I'd happily pay for it.

This is a fun DLC to play even though it doesn't change gameplay that much... This is probably the easiest DLC. What I like compared to previous DLCs is the new unique illness room somewhat similar to the wards since many patients can be inside at the same time. There are 2 different items equivalent to the wards bed that can be placed inside. One is the Flower Bed which can be upgraded once (and only once) individually. The other one is the Vine Yard, it's smaller so theorically more can be can placed in the room. However, this item can't be upgraded so the cure chance will be lower. Once a patient has been treated in one of these plant "beds", the item becomes unavailable during several seconds/minutes. The Flower Bed takes much more time to become available again compared to the Vine Yard. Contrary to wards where having too many beds is pointless, in this room it's important to have a lot in order to always have at least one available when the others are on cooldown. What's different about this room too is that it's the only one where an employee with the skill Treatment IV or V is worth considering. First hospital This is an outdoor hospital and it's huge which is cool. Note that the whole hospital is available from the start, there is no plot to unlock. It's actually part of the challenge here since reducing the temperature and increasing the attractiveness in the whole hospital will require a lot of money (and effort). It's an interesting mission somewhat similar to the public hospital in the main game. Money obtained from patients is significantly lower than in other hospitals meaning that overall it will be more difficult to earn money. However, there is what is called the Wellness Index which basically increases when the hospital is doing good. Depending on the value of this index, part of the wages and energy bills are fully reimbursed each month. What's interesting is that once the Wellness Founding reaches and stays at 100% or more, there is no disadvantage to increase the salary of all employees to the max. It's even possible to recruit an army of employees since there is no reason to worry about their wages anymore (even though the downside there is the increase of the hospital level so I wouldn't recommend recruiting too many people :p). While it's nice to see something new, ultimately it doesn't really change that much how to play during this mission. It just makes the early game a bit more challenging. Second hospital It's a more classic hospital where the usual snack/drink machines can't be placed at all. Instead the new "self-sustaining" items can be used to take care of hunger/thirst. While they never require janitors, they can take a long time to automatically replenish depending on the item. The biggest downside is that during this mission it's not possible to rely on special effects like the happiness boost from the luxury drink/food machines. Otherwise it doesn't make a big difference, it's only a matter of placing more items if the patients are depleting them faster than they replenish... Third hospital This mission introduces a basic energy management system. Each built room requires 1 power unit to work. To get power, all that is needed is to buy solar panels, wind turbines or hydro dams that are on the map. Technically, it just means that you have to pay extra money to open rooms. The spare power units can be used to increase the number of patients arriving in the hospital. This is somewhat similar to the patient arrival rate in the sandbox mode. With enough power it's easy to reach the cap of 250 patients even in a level 15 hospital. Honestly, there is no reason to increase the patient flow or at least not too high except to increase difficulty... Even at 0, I always had more than enough patients to take care of. They probably shoud have drastically lowered the number of patients by default to make the power management system more useful. However, what I found interesting is that spare power units can also be allocated to staff applicants. It increases the rate at which potential staff members become available to hire. It's similar to a marketing campaign but it affects all jobs. I am very picky about who I hire so this is what made this mission more enjoyable to play. While there is no big gameplay changes, the 3 missions still feel unique compared to the rest of the game or the other DLCs. Even the second hospital that is more "classic" is interesting in a way because it's the first in the game that completely blocks some items already unlocked. The new ideas are interesting but it seems the devs are a bit reluctant to go a step further. Here is my DLCs ranking so far from the best to the worst : 1. Speedy Recovery 2. Pebberley Island, it also includes the "Ice Sculpture" which is the only DLC item I always use (in hot environment) 3. Bigfoot 4. Off the Grid 5. Culture Shock 6. A Stitch in Time 7. Close Encounters

Very short entertainment. Most uneven dlc so far, probably most boring also. Pebberly Island was more "off the grid" than this one. It hurts a bit your beloved game turns to cheap sh*t.

I'm very impressed with this DLC. It's my favourite because it adds the most features into the game. The experience of playing this DLC is quite different from the rest of the game, so you need to find different ways of structuring your hospital to rise to the challenge. The names of the new medical conditions are also much funnier than any others. This DLC is definitely worth the investment.

Two Point Hospital continues to innovate its already fun formula of running a hospital. This new expansion is a breath of fresh air to this amazing game. If you had enjoyed the original game and any of the various DLC packs that have already been released, then you will certainly enjoy this one. My favorite DLC pack by far and it comes cheap for the amount of content it offers!
