  [h1] The Blessed Sequel [/h1] Well folks, the wait is over. After one agonizing year of anticipation and excitement, and getting 100% completion (It was a difficult challenge, much like my favorite game, [i]Dark Souls II: Scholar of the First Sin edition[/i]!), I can safely say that [i]Trap Genesis[/i], the thrilling conclusion to the great trap trilogy, soared far beyond my expectations and into that weird trap-heaven dimension. This is not a visual novel, it is a once-in-a-lifetime experience that will stay in my mind years after its completion, one I will look back on fondly and say to my five tomgirl wives; “Remember that time Hinowa cloned himself and they both sucked Masato’s-” You get the picture. Before I sing this game's praises for 15 paragraphs, I would like to mention that, while I played this game with the “special patch” enabled, I can’t seem to recall any post-post credits scene [spoiler]after the festival with the other traps[/spoiler]. I can distinctly remember the final “scene” in [i]Trap Legend[/i], so either there wasn’t a post-post credits scene, or it was something so horrible, disgusting, and depraved that my brain removed all memories involving its imagery (I think it’s the former). The lack of a final sendoff was disappointing, but it didn’t hinder the overall experience. Anyways, onto the review. [h1]The Story[/h1] If [i]Trap Legend[/i]'s story was a masterpiece, then I don’t know what to call [i]Trap Genesis[/i]. The story improves every aspect even further than its predecessor. The writing, characters, and overall “plot” left my legs shaking and left hand aching from its pure unadulterated brilliance. Every single line of dialogue had purpose and meaning, somehow even more gritty and realistic than the previous game. Every time the festival was mentioned, I found myself filled with an innate sense of dread, hoping that the main antagonist wouldn’t cause mass death on the day that has been built up since [i]Trap Shrine[/i]. The story's darker tone and higher stakes can only be comparable to [i]Star Wars: Episode III - Revenge of The Sith[/i], perfectly portraying the tragic downfall of our beloved main character, Masato, as he completes his transformation into a misguided yet confident lover of traps. As for the other characters, we aren’t given any new faces [spoiler]until the end[/spoiler], but the main harem we know and love gets some excellent development, the highlight being Hinowa. In an extremely well-executed twist that was foreshadowed in one scene prior, it turns out that Hinowa was the true antagonist of the series, changing the dynamic of the harem forever. As [i]the[/i] agent of chaos, Hinowa is constantly keeping the cast - and reader - on edge with his unpredictable behavior. One moment he could be plotting to destroy the shrine and ruin the festival, the next he could be taking it from behind. One particular scene which stood out to me was when Hinowa stopped time and said “It’s useless to resist”. It was a really intense and original scene that left me quaking in my Lightning McQueen(tm) crocs, and exactly the kind of quality you’d expect from this series. While a threatening force for most of the story, Hinowa is a surprisingly tragic and misunderstood character, similar to the likes of Gustavo Fring from [i]Breaking Bad[/i], Tyler Durdin from [i]Fight Club[/i], and Willem Dafoe from [i]Spider-Man[/i]. The ending to his arc left me feeling satisfied, among other things. As for the other characters, both Mishiro and Subaru get new “outfits” that really highlight their physique, and Yui and Tamaki turn into children again. [i]Trap Legend[/i] introduced the concept of trap politics, and further developed the trap deities. [i]Trap Genesis[/i] makes the bold decision to have the story revolve around the possibility of trap pregnancy, with the ultimate goal being the complete eradication of women to usher in a new age of darkness. The story took directions that were extremely unpredictable, and, like all classic literature, wrapped up nicely with no loose ends or cliffhangers. Congratulations! [h1]The Writing[/h1] NTR-Anon once again blesses us with the greatest grammatically correct visual novel of all time. The jokes are hilarious, the pacing of the dialogue is just right, and every character speaks in a believable way. Several memorable terms make their return, as well as some new ones ("femgirl" was a word I didn't know existed until now), making this the complete trap experience. Like the previous installments, the constant referencing towards the main characters being siblings is prevalent whenever Mishiro, Subaru, or Hinowa are on screen (yes, even during the more “passionate” scenes). The tailjob scene had me on the edge of my seat with its raw intensity and realism, and was absolutely essential to the plot. Everything about the writing kept me immersed in the role of the main character whose name I can't remember. I can really see myself in him, which is the sign of a quality novel. [i]Attack on Titan[/i] has nothing on the pure amount of foreshadowing and satisfying reveals contained in this series. I got the impression that every line of dialogue was important, every use of the word “kok milk” intentional. Phenomenal work, NTR-Anon. Keep it up! [h1]The Music[/h1] Unfortunately, I kept the music off for most of the runtime. From what I could tell, they haven’t added any new tracks, except for the end credits theme, which bangs quite hard. I opted for my own choice of music during the “scenes”, including (but not limited to) “Orphan of Kos”, “Lady Maria of the Astral Clocktower”, and “Ludwig the Holy Blade” from [i]Bloodborne[/i]. “BFG Division” from [i]DOOM[/i] (2016) also fits during these moments, but [i]Bloodborne[/i]'s soundtrack gives the “scenes” a completely different (and story-accurate) tone, so it’s far more preferable. [h1]Conclusion[/h1] The conclusion to the trap saga goes beyond the role of a masterpiece, and I enjoyed every minute of it. Its characters were second-to-none, the plot was engaging, and the writing was masterful. I would highly recommend it, and everyone should experience it at least once. I don’t know what the future holds for this franchise (maybe a prequel or spinoff trilogy?), but whatever they decide to make next will be a day one purchase from me, as long as it involves traps. In closing, I give this game 55 kok milks/10. Thanks for making me want to gouge my eyes out a third time, guys!
