  I remember those days when I used to play this on Citra ( 3DS emulator ) since I didnt own nintendo 3DS, those days were golden for me. Now I am just glad to see it on pc as well, I hope they bring every rune factory game on pc.

  For those who are unfamiliar with Rune Factory ( as I was before playing ) this game is most similar to those like Harvest Moon, Stardew Valley, and perhaps Animal Crossing as well. There are many great things, and a few bad things, that I'll be going over ; I don't typically review too many games, but I wanted to make one for this game since I feel as though it is severely under rated and not well known. I played on Normal mode for the record ---The Good--- - You have a variety of skills to level up throughout the game, so more useful than others, and some are quiet interesting. How many games do you know of where you can get stronger simply by walking, sleeping, eating, and taking a bath? - There are many festivals and events similar to Stardew Valley ; like throwing Turnips at each other instead of the atypical snowball. - WAY too many skills. Seriously, I only used a handful. But there is certainly an arsenal large enough for anyone to be able to make a play style that suits them. - While there isn't a lot of mainline voice acting, you might recognize certain voices ; for instance, members from Critical Role actually worked on this. - The people who reside in the town are quite varied on their personalities. You're going to like at least 1 character. - You can befriend monsters and have them work beside you on your farm, while also potentially providing crafting materials. - Of course, you can go out on dates with certain characters and even get married, have some kids. ( Dolce best girl. ) ---The Not so Good--- - You might want a controller to play this game on STEAM. - Graphically speaking it's not the best, but that doesn't necessarily matter. - The music and sound effects are fair. - The main story line can be a bit cliche at times. - You might occasionally get annoyed with getting stun locked by good combo's or multiple monsters cornering you. - Because of the grindy nature of the game, sometimes progression can be slow. ---The Side notes--- - Honestly, I thoroughly enjoyed the story for getting to know certain characters better than the main story. - While I just can't get invested enough to play the game to completion, Good luck to anyone who makes it ( Trust me, you'll understand what I mean if you try the game out. Still a great game though. ) I'm not the greatest at making reviews, but hopefully this does well enough to ensure that this is a good game to try in the genre that could use more attention. Should this review somehow inspire someone to try the game, and enjoy it, I would very much like a response in some shape or form, be it one of those steam awards, or some sort of thumbs up. --- Grimm

  First of all, give thanks to the Devs Marvelous Inc. for making the game possible and second XSEED games for porting it to PC. *Applause* The game is finally on PC, tried it and it plays well on keyboard controls though my hardware can't handle the high resolution, I can manage to run it 720p graphics in mostly 50-60 fps. Keypoints to lookout for : -Do not get put off since its the 4th because every Rune Factory has its own story and its own memorable cast. -The new features in RF4 Special is the Remastered graphics, Dual Audio, Newlywed mode, Another Episode DLC and Hell difficulty. -Game can be played as a boy/girl from the start which dictates which marriable candidates you can marry. -Earning money can be gained not only in farming but logging,fishing,looting monsters,RNG treasure boxes, etc. -NPC are memorable because of so many things to do to them like marrying them, inviting them to dungeons, local festivals rivalry, random town events(RNG), giving them love potions,etc. -Every skill has its own skill level - ex. eating, sleeping, bathing, farming, etc. -Monsters can be tamed and even ride on, some even help the farm like sprites in Harvest moon or Story of Seasons games. -Game does not end after finishing the story, you can still try to reach level 5000 or reach Year 25 and the game and characters might still be colorful since RNG town events is hard to trigger correctly. -Sadly as much as I like the dev, the price is higher than the normal, I recommend buying it during a sale to make the most of it. My Personal Opinion : Graphics - 9/10 (Seeing it in fullscreen makes me happy since the 3DS and the switch version.) Gameplay - 10/10 (The gameplay is better, after playing 1,2, and 3 you can tell that every main game they create the new feature will make the game better than the previous.) Story - 10/10 (There are tons of stories in here 3 main arcs, town events and even character request.) Sound - 9/10(Listening to the townsfolk for that greeting while they run in town puts a smile for the day.) Series - 10/10 (This is the final part of the native dragon story which focuses on the winds dragon Ventuswill, along with the story conclusion, we get cameos ex. Raven and Barrett and other stuff like from the watchtower we can see the home where RF 1,2 and 3 took place.) Overall rating - 10/10 (Hey, its MY favorite game series so I am biased at it. but my only words for this part is TRY IT and be sure to clear it to make the most of the experience in this since its a slice of life, RPG, and simulator in one game.) Is it worth it? - Yes! (Definitely recommended, you should try it! but the price is something not to laugh at but if you like Rune Factory then buy it without regrets. NO REGRETS!) Last note : Support the game to make them think this is not a dead series and many fans enjoy this series.

  First of all i just wanna say THANK YOU to XSEED and Marvelous for FINALLY bringing the Rune Factory game to PC/Steam, can we also get Rune Factory 5 on Steam next please? This will be my 3rd time buying Rune Factory 4 and i can't wait to see what amazing mods people come up with. If you new to the series or liked games like Stardew Valley or Harvest Moon/Story of Season this is a must buy game for you, Rune Factory 4 is by FAR the best Rune Factory game in the series (Rune Factory 3 is still my favorite Rune Factory game though) If you enjoy dungeon crawling, beating up monster, boss battles, crafting, and dating sim you will love this game. It takes the best of the Harvest Moon games (farming, marriage, befriending villagers etc) but makes it much more streamlined. • The farming is much quicker. Put simply, Rune Factory isn't about farming, but making good use of your farm can effectively trivialise the rest of the game. So if you're into RPG's, you can just ignore the farm and focus on combat and crafting armour and weapons. • If you're not really into RPG's, you can focus on farming instead, which will slowly level the rest of your skills as well (there's a chance to get random skill ups when you harvest something). Eventually you'll become powerful enough to beat anything, just by farming. • You can take your favorite villager and bring them to battle with you, which is always fun to have your girlfriend/wife battle along side you. (The dungeons are actually designed to be bring someone with you, monster or character. Not that it is really hard to solo. • There is also a LOT to do, even at the very beginning. Between saving up Prince Points to upgrade the town/house/farm, befriending monsters to fight with you, farming, leveling up, crafting, request box quests, befriending people and raising the love interest of the chosen character...you will have a LOT to do in a single day and rarely feel like you want to just skip to the next day so your crops will grow. • There is also 3 main story arcs. So when you see the credits roll for the first time the game is far from over.

  Definitely happy this was finally brought to PC, if you loved similar games on Steam like "My Time at Portia", "Story of Seasons, "Stardew Valley", "Sun Haven", "Kitaria Fables", "Verdant Skies" or "Kynseed". Then this game is definitely for you. If you love the game upvote the comments who mention Rune Factory 5 so that can also be put up on Steam this coming March of 2022. It would also be nice for a Rune Factory Collection brought to Steam as well... showing the previous five games before four. Show your support to the series and give X-Seed notice.

  Echoing the other article that reviews this game, you can say that this game is a mishmash of a lot of game, and it works. If you desire for it, you can get to level 50000. The second nonsensical level cap after disgaea's level (well... disgaea goes to 9999, but you reincarnate again and again to maximize reincarnation bonus). You can capture almost all monster in this game and you have the barn space to do so. skill level goes to 999. Relationship level goes to 999, and there's always a way to cheese that. The crafting is rather intricate that people make guides just for crafting. There is a lot of items with hidden effects, and gifting crafting material gives similar bonus for your monster. So you can make your monster actually immune to everything, give all status effects, heal themselves through attacking. The farming is... deeper than harvest moon/story of seasons. but after a certain point, I feel fatigue from trying to maximize the soil, maximize the seed, maximize everything. It's just that it's not something relaxing when you try to pursue maximization. If I want to relax, I don't want to farm at this game. The relationship is like harvest moon too. it's your usual fare of dating sims. The combat... you have variability between each weapon. if you just want high dps, go for dual wield, if you want to maximize magic, go for staff, if you want slow but high damage, go for those 2H sword/axe. each one has its pros and cons. Overall, I enjoy it so much.
