Epic Little War Game Funciones

Our latest and most epicist new war game from our BAFTA nominated turn-based strategy stable. Yep, "epicist" most definitely is a real word. Absolutely it is.

Command your troops, don't take any grief back, try to do more damage to your enemies than to yourself. That's all we ask trooper, all we ask.

FEATURES:

Single player campaign mode that introduces new concepts as you play - no boring tutorial campaigns.

Skirmish mode with up to six players - any combo of local friends or AI's on a wide range of maps for infinite replay.

Random map generator. The weird USP here being that it makes actually playable maps.

Online co-operative play. Team up with a friend over teh interwebs to beat a pair of AI's on various set piece challenges.

Online PVP. Mash your opponents, increase your rating, brag about it to everybody.

Turn-based. This is not a real-time game. You play in turns, so you have to win by being a better tactician, not by clicking faster than the other guy.

See you in there soldier, bag 'em and tag 'em.

Just finished the campaign, here is a little review of the game. Firstly, big thanks to Rubicon for creating this EPIC game (-_^). As a veteran of GLWG and GBWG with hundreds of hours of playing (both on Steam and mobile), I've still pretty much enjoyed this sequel, which I'd waited since 2014. Having said that, here are some suggestions that I hope Rubicon will consider implementing in the near future: 1. The campaign is a little too short: spoiler alert:
22
missions compared to 50 in GBWG. 2. Everytime a new turn begins, the screen goes back to HQ location, which is a little annoying. It would be great if the screen could go back to where the last action took place. 3. In Skirmish mode: I wish there were an option to choose which military branches each side can have. For example, we can assign Air Force to side 1, and Army to side 2. I believe this is a great way to maximize a player's strategy in using each branch's potential. 4. If possible, please add a super-long-range unit. I remember Rubicon did consider this idea, but somehow it got dropped. 5. Lastly, please increase Sniper's range to 4 or 5. That's all for now, hope we all enjoy the game :))

Why wasn't this game greenlit first in a beta? I just bought it and Online is broken and unplayable. I know there's nobody now for starters but I created one game and was booted from my own game and can't get back in. Online is unplayable right now so as it stands this game is complete garbage and should be in a beta. It's cost me $8.79 and you better fix the game by the time I try again. Also when changing your flag in the options screen....Changing flags? Ya right...It stays black all the time and there are no changes to you r crappy black flag no matter what you click! This is game is full beta garbage. Steam really should've put this crap on beta before releasing like that. I bought a game that doesn't work at all. It's so broken I can't do anything.

Epic Little War Game is a turn-based strategy war game. The player is in control of an army and tasked with building their own base as well as obliterating the enemy. There's a single player campaign, and the multiplayer features several factions that come with unique troops and upgrades. Good things: There are plenty of new troops, buildings and game mechanics to learn and experiment with. The campaign has both subtle and obvious humor in the dialogue which is fun to listen to. Troops now actually have a set numerical amount of HP unlike the previous games. Different factions to choose from in multiplayer offer a healthy variety of playstyles. Bad things: The combat is extremely rock-paper-scissors and there aren't a lot of truly strategic options to use in battle. The ability to build up your base takes a lot of strategy out, as you are allowed to use everything, whereas in previous games you had to work with what you were given. (This one may change if the game is updated) There's a couple of visual bugs that may or may not annoy you. The story for the campaign feels sloppy and last minute, especially when the series has had some good storytelling to its name. While the factions are good, they're extremely situational and choosing one over the other on a specific map can have a huge impact on the game. Overall, the game feels very experimental, like it should be in some kind of beta. It feels like the developers are trying out a bunch of new things to put into another game that will be much better as a whole. I'm not saying it's a bad game, I'm saying that there need to be a few more patches to improve some aspects. However, as much as i want to recommend this game, I can't. The previous game, Great Big War Game, is honestly a better experience in my opinion.

This review is for the single player campain only. I haven't played any multi-player. If you are interested in multi-player, I suggest you find reviews that address it. This version is the only one that has local multi-player and co-op modes which is a great feature if that's your thing. But if you are mostly interested in just the single player campaign, read on. Like its predecessors, this is a fun game. It doesn't take too much strategizing, and is a casual and entertaining title. There are a few missions that might take you a few times to win, but overall, the difficulty is just right if you have more fun winning than you do with a serious challenge. Difficulty cannot be adjusted which is disappointing for a third rendition of the original GLWG. All that said, this game feels like a step backwards from its predecessors. In GBWG, you had limited fuel and ammunition for your units and you needed to use the supply vehicles to resupply them. This added a nice bit of depth to a sucessful strategy. In ELWG, you have unlimited fuel and ammo. In GBWG, you had access to Jeeps, MLRS, the aforementioned supply trucks, and tank killers. All of those are missing from ELWG - at least for the single player campaign. The MLRS is available but for the enemy only. ELWG does provide some very interesting new units including a submarine. Rubicon boasts that they have 47 different units. Unfortunately, in the single player campaign at least, like the MLRS these units are available only to the enemy. There is nothing new for the single player unit-wise and as previosly mentioned, a lot of the units you used to have are no longer available. The engineers in GBWG have been replaced with builders. Like engineers, builders build things. But the enginner could also capture enemy oil wells and buildings. The builder cannot and is basically an engineer-lite. A new mechanic unit is available which is a welcome addition. The mechanic can fix damaged vehicles much like the medic can heal infantry units. I always enjoyed the sea battles. But the campaign provides only two (disclaimer: I think it's two - I didn't count while playing, but it's certainly not very many.) The game is short. It has
less than half
the number of levels that GBWG had. My final complaint is probably something that Rubicon likes. The "epic" factor. Some of the maps are very large, but the game can become a grind when playing these large maps. The number of units on the board becomes very large. It takes a long time to complete your turn and becomes difficult to remember which units you have already moved or attacked with and which units you haven't, so you find yourself clicking on each unit again to see if you have already moved them or not. Changing the unit color to something dark to indicate that they have no movement left would be a big help. Commanders: Attack of the Genos did this and it works very well. A separate indicator showing if a unit has attacked already would also be a nice feature, but doesn't exist. It is often difficult to see what is on the board when you have a large number air units hovering over ground units or when you are in an area full of terrain like trees. GBWG is a better offering in my opinion, and costs less too. If you don't already have GBWG, I suggest you get that one first. It's a better game with more units, provides a longer single player campaign, and costs less. Despite all of these complaints, the game is still fun, so I am giving it a reluctant thumbs up. 6.5/10.
