  100% Worth the buy. This is what a video game should be. FUN. It isn't as polished as a triple A title but the soul and character that make a game great is there. It's a fantastic game to just blow off steam and have a cheap laugh here and there. It's a solid mix of Mario Odyssey and platformers of the N64 and PS2 Era. Think Spyro, Jak & Daxter, Conker, and Banjo. I would love to see bigger and better from this developer as well as an industry wide recognition that modern gaming has strayed too far from what makes an experience exceptional like this one. I hope I can encourage a purchase or two to support this studio.

  Oh wow- I almost forgot what it felt like to play something crafted with love and different with no compromises on the original vision. I love the setting of the game, it being in hell is perfect and the characters that you meet along the way are ridiculous and entertaining. I love the adult themed entertainment that I haven't seen a platformer since Conker's Bad Furr Day. I don't throw that comparison around willy nilly by the way. It's as refreshing as it is disgusting. The most important thing, platforming, is rock SOLID. Like, it's good, really, really good. It makes exploring the hub worlds and getting around extremely fun and easy to do once you quickly get the hang of it. There's also a lot to collect and unlock along the way in terms of abilities and outfits so while being fun to play it gives you a reason to explore. I applaud the developers for being fearless and making a game that feels like a game they always wanted to play as well as make. TDLR; If you like platforming collectathons and adult humor akin to Conker's Bad Fur Day, for $25 dollars, this is more than worth it's weight in gold.

  Beating the game and getting 90% of everything, I have to say it's a hit and miss experience. People who are already fans of platformers will probably enjoy Hell Pie quite a lot. It's unique setting, great/crude sense of humor, and an absolutely adorable protagonist have a lot of charm and will most likely be the reasons why you stick with it like me. Moreover the movement mechanics in the game are spot on and polished to a mirror's edge, the game absolutely nails the platforming of well... platforming. It's an absolute blast to be swinging around through the levels, collecting new outfits and seeing what new things come when you gather enough collectibles. Having said that, the game feels unfinished. There are many aspects of the game that feel rushed or like they have not been playtested, resulting in greatly lacking polish. I am mainly referring to: -lack of consistency (objects may appear in cutscenes, then disappear once the game shifts back to gameplay) -stuttering animations (there's seemingly little in between animations, the characters snap from one state to another) -carryable objects can easily become stuck in walls and become irretrievable, making you backtrack to start their carrying process over from the beginning -overall low quality of world 3 -npc dialogue being incredibly easy to miss (the range in which you can listen to npcs talk is very small, combined with the high speed you're usually moving at you will constantly skip dialogue boxes) -the abrupt ending, I won't spoil it, I'll just say it's incredibly short and disappointing In addition the game has two other major things that hold it back outside of lack of polish, that being repetitiveness and lack of challenge. Around world 3 the game becomes less and less fun the more you play it, as the way you deal with all your problems never changes apart from when the games gives you a gun, or when you unlock the final set of horns, both of which had great gameplay segments. As for the difficulty, it's a cakewalk (HA!), the game never poses any challenge making you at most repeat a segment once or twice. It is a real shame. All in all Hell Pie is a decent game, Nate being adorable, the movement mechanics being incredible and the humor making you smile all contribute to making it a good game. However all the shortcomings heavily detract from the experience and often made me groan with disappointment, lamenting that this beautiful little gem has an awful amount of blemishes. I really hope the devs will update the game and work out the kinks.

  REVIEW IN PROGRESS: I was looking forward to this after the demo. Possibly one of the my favorite releases this year. It's Conker's Bad Fur Day in essence, and wears influences and references on its sleeve, while providing a fantastic movement system, expansive level design, and a high level of creativity in its content. Movement system is polished and dynamic. You have a ton of options right out of the box, and some early upgrades within the first few hours make it possible to reach more places than you might have thought possible. Platforming is forgiving, but affords many possibilities when you max out your reach. There was even an instance where a level changed and it didn't seem possible to reach a collectible with missing platforms, but I managed to finesse my way up and nab it. Movement becomes intuitive within minutes, and I found myself really enjoying how tight it is. I found myself grinning while playing through levels with absurd story setups. There's a lot of great ideas packed into the first few hours at the very least. There have been a few bugs and QOL stuff I would expect to be fixed soon, like dialogue disappearing too quick or pink bits (collectible currency) getting stuck in the ground, but I also got shot WAY up into the sky after un-pausing/alt-tabbing back into the game. Not a big deal as it let me glide while falling to get past some piranhas. Overall, I would recommend to definitely buy this if you like 3d Mario tier move-set platforming with millennial toilet humor, or if you loved Conker, Banjo, or Crash. It's very creative from what I've seen so far.
